Has anyone had a long term relationship with this aspect between yourself and another? Or do you know of any famous ones? I'd like to hear about this synastry aspect occuring when the male's Sun squares the female's Moon, and your experiences. Thanks!

Well that's interesting. I could see us in an LTR together. ..even though we've never met. lol

But you are also a Cappy and other aspects might play into making that work out too.....like our conjunct Moons... my Venus in your first...

I was married to someone whose sun squared my moon. It 'worked'. I guess lol.
It was sun/moon square double whammy actually.

We need Dark Dreamer or someone like that. She seemed to have a fair amount of celebrity charts memorized. Although, I'm not sure how much she looked into successful couples. Hopefully someone will come up with an answer for you.

If not, I guess you'll have to wing it. I personally think you should start with whether you have compatible senses of humor.

I am a female and my boyfriend's Sun squares my Moon. Actually his Merc. too.
Our Moons are both in the same sign and he has the square in his natal.

Only sometimes he misunderstands me and gets defensive. We are able to step back and make sure meanings are clear.
He'll say, "What are you saying" and I have to say it a different way so its a clear picture.
I'd say that the Merc. square is a little more of a problem overall.

Sun/Moon square is very difficult. Its very difficult to relate and feel comfort most of the time. Always feel like you have to explain yourself. Acceptance has never felt easy with this one.

I think in this case it was difficult because there was so much other stuff in the synastry going on.... sometimes it's hard to isolate aspects and look at them separately because I believe that energies/aspects do work simultaneously.
How do I know that it's my Moon square your sun which is causing the problem?
Maybe it's my Mercury square your Moon.
Or your Mars oppose my Saturn.
Or whatever.
So I guess then we need to make the definition more sparse and isolate each planet and assign it sole responsibility for one thing, which sometimes feels off to me, like listening to a single instrument during a huge symphony...

But all in all I would say that that the Moon person suffers a little more emotionally since the Moon is associated with that, and it feels that the Sun is insensitive to its needs somehow. And of course whatever signs the square is happening in would further define it.

For me, it was my Aries Moon squaring my Cappy ex's Sun.... my desire to experience new things and expand, and take chances felt stifled by his sense of 'responsibility' (read: his job, which he hated, but yet wouldn't leave)... But you know what? His Saturn also square my Sun, so it would be a little like that too. There was definitely a squelching of self-expression, and a lack of tact/care when it came to considering my feelings (moon).
He was on the other side of it too, but it was by a wide degree in synastry. His Gemini moon to my Virgo sun was annoying because he never seemed interested really KNOWING about anything, just acquiring enough tidbits (in a very stereotypically glib Gemini Moon-like way) about whatever.... if it was about news and what was going on in the world, he wouldn't go and read himself what was happening. Well, maybe he'd read half a paragraph, mention it, and then I would expound on the facts of the story (which I had read in further detail) and he would kind of glaze over
It bothered me because what goes on in the world is important to me.

So.... anyway.... hope that helps a little.

It's interesting how themes are often repeated.

Writesomething, I agree! That is how I experience the sun sq moon aspect for the past 8 years lol! We have the double whammy too.

------------------
Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚
Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚
Cancer Venus 29˚ (Mutual reception with Moon)
And yes, i'm a guy!

Yes, AG, it is interesting how these themes are repeated.

And it's also interesting because I think the tense aspects actually keep people together. I'm not saying they're all easy, or snoozy/happy... but look at GG. 8 Years!
I was in mine for 5!
Do you think a trine or sextile is going to be dynamic enough to make things last? I'd say NO, but I also think it depends on what the person wants.
And I think it's like a challenge of tightrope-talking in a way... and it makes you aware. But maybe some people like that. I know I don't mind it... as long as the issues addressed by the tense aspects are DEALT with, then the challenge is a healthy one. You may not ever 'solve' the square, but if you work together then you can probably gain a level of respect and hopefully some kind of objective understanding of the 'other' human being that you are dealing with.

I also think squares indicate fascination as well. I think Moon/Sun squares are magnetic and the natures are so different so there's a kind of fascination. It reminds me of how many Aries/Capricorn couples I know of... SO MANY. Their suns square and I know it's not the same thing, but by god it's interesting how often I see that kind of thing.

I agree! It really depends also on each person's natal and what they're looking for in a relationship. People seeking a challenge, sparks, excitement, and tension might enjoy squares in synastry a lot in a relationship where both people are interested.

In my own experience, tight squares in synastry have often increased our desire to break through the squares/barriers and really understand each other and connect in those areas. Like my friend I have the Sun-Merc square DW with--we both feel this intense urgency to communicate with each other past the block. Although, in all the relationships I'm thinking of, there were of course aspects other than the squares, some very nice and binding or harmonious.

Oh man, I just remembered another relationship with a DW of Moon/Sun... my ex from when I was 22 or 23. I think he was the love of my life in a way... we were 'together' for a year, broke up (it was so painful on both ends), but then we stayed in touch and kept kind of getting back together for something like 5 years. I remember his Saturn was also square my Venus...ouchy.
But yeah... we were young and always hurting each other, but there was all this intense, oddly tender love between us, like we knew how to make each other feel the most loved and in turn also knew exactly how to wound each other.

yes i am MVM

although i have surrendered to the fact that i would rather be understood than endure a square sun/moon relationship.
It's tiring for me to always have to make such an effort on something that should just naturally flow

Thanks guys. You all brought up some great points and experiences I can definitely relate to. I agree that it's not great to isolate aspects too.

MVM,

Hey

I am a female but I always end up with guys whose moon square or oppose my Sun. I don't get it!!! lol .. I usually don't find this out til after I have gotten to know them. Every. single. person. i have been with has had their moon square/oppose my sun.

The longest relationship i have been in was with a sun square moon. But my sun/moon mp and venus/mars mp are also in that sign too, so that may have something to do with it.

ETA: I usually have intense relationships so I dont know if this is due to moon square/oppose sun, but usually deep emotion. Never have light-hearted relationships (though most of my friendships are light-hearted) and I also have ASC square my sun and ASC square venus, mars and saturn. So I am full of squares myself (and oppositions eg venus opp saturn and mars opp sun and all of these are close, so also venus opp mars and saturn opp sun) so that could have something to do with it? I wish I found a guy with moon trine sun/venus it would make my love life a lot easier I presume! :P or even better.. same moon sign as me as that only semi-sextiles, and quincunxes my personal planets and trines my ASC
