I'm asking because I have no Sun to Moon aspects with my guy... well, moon trine moon at like 9 degrees... but since he is Scorp, that is sextile Libra and his Virgo moon is sextile Libra etc. but not within 10 degrees. I assume it still adds the general understanding though the connection is not felt with any intensity. Linda seems to consider sign trines etc so it must have some validity. What is everyone's opinion and/or research and/or personal experience with this?

If it was a square or opposition I might give it more validity and in terms of a wide orb, but not for a trine and definitely not for a sextile. Of course you're both going to have emotional understanding and sensitivity toward each other, however Scorpio can ultimately dive much, much deeper into the ocean than Cancer can. It shouldn't be a problem as long as Cancer knows that Scorpio will eventually surface...one day.IP: Logged |

Hi Geo, did you mean Libra? Yes, I was thinking that the meaning behind the sextile would give more understanding just by the nature of the signs. Like I get along with Virgo and Scorp as a rule more than Cancer my square.IP: Logged |

IMO sign to sign is valid but if there are no tight orbs then it wouldn't be felt as much/intensely. But moon trine moon whatever the orb degree will certainly help as the natures of both of those moon signs mesh together better/there is more understanding. I have a great book on moon/moon compatibility (actually its on a whole heap of random astrology stuff but very cool! One of my first astro books XD) but unfortunately found a lot of the info on the net already lol so not sure whether they were the original authors or whether ppl have stolen it and published it online. Either way it seems valid to me. As well as Venus/Mars signs, Venus/Venus etc. Just not as intense. So this is good if you have a Venus square Venus for example! Differences are felt but are easier to deal with. Just what I think anyway IP: Logged |

Thank you very much! I am approaching this with beginner's mind to fill any blanks that have been left in my astrological education. Some of it is similar to things I have read but forgotten to some extent and some just makes sense. I love the input and it is very helpful!IP: Logged |

These signs are not sextile. They're semi-sextile, and more closely related to a square aspect. Sextiles are two signs away from one another, so Leo and Sag are the signs that sextile Libra. They are masculine like Libra, so there's an affinity. Scorpio and Virgo are feminine (like your squares), so there's supposed to be less affinity. All of that said, people do often go for the sign that they are before or after. Gwen Stefani and her husband (I can't remember his name right now for some reason) are Libra and Scorpio. IP: Logged |

Out of sign aspects are less evident. The wider the orb, the less evident an aspect is.Therefore, if an aspect is out of sign and wide, then it's much less evident. Also, conjunctions, oppositions and squares are stronger, whereas trines and sextiles are weaker in effect coz they are more harmonious. IP: Logged |

hmmm... yes, I always enjoy relationships with Scorp and Virgo. Maybe the slight friction is the reason, like Comica said... IP: Logged |

I posted in Lara's thread about the signs to either side of yours. To me, it seems like it's easy to understand why the signs before and after you are the way they are. Also, a lot of people have planets in at least one of the signs next to their sun sign. I have three planets in Sag, so I get them to a degree even if their fundamental nature is a bit different than mine. Also, I don't think that lack of Sun/Moon aspects is necessarily a deal breaker. Yeah, I wouldn't hunt too much for sun/moon aspects if they are not obvious. I think another reason that signs next to each other have an affinity is because the Sun/Merc/Venus are never too far away from each other, so many people with their Sun in one sign likely have their Merc or Venus in the signs before or after. What do you guys think about houses? Say a person has a Cancer Sun, and another person has a Sag Moon, but the Cancer Sun is in the 9th house. Would there still be an affinity by house? IP: Logged |

I think so too AG. I have my sun/moon in my guys 9th house and he's a Gemini sun. My Aries stellium is in my 3rd house in my chart, natural house of Gemini. IP: Logged |

I don't know where I read this, but it's been in my head for a while now! --The sign after yours displays characteristics that you lack, hence why it can be nice being with a semi-sextile sign as you fill in each others gaps (this is just generally speaking of course)Eg Aries - fast, quick thinkers, quick to temper, impulsive Taurus - slow and plodding, slow to anger, thinks topics through one at a time, practical Gemini - flitter about, multi-taskers, intelligent, attention-seeking Cancer - nurturing, homely, worriers, self-protective etc etc And it makes more sense that personal planets like Merc/Venus will quite often be found in the semi-sextile signs too perhaps smoothing over any potential friction the differences can make. Linda talks about how each sign after yours has lessons for you to learn/lessons to teach you and each sign before yours has lessons for you to teach/lessons to learn from you. So I think it is significant too, in the grand scheme of things I suppose. I just kind of wondered what other astrological research out there says and if they disagree with that philosophy or have things to expand it... when we all chat about it new things come to light for me.
