do you think this would mean that a person is confronting all their inner obstacles and fears, etc? would it make a person be especially cautious? and if so, would it be a good time to make big changes because they are more cautious and serious, or not?

the conjunction is exact.

thanks katatonic! so it seems as though saturn rewarded you because of your willingness to take its prompting into seriousness seriously!

This progression can be very hard. Vincent van Gogh killed himself during this progression.

yikes. with all my saturn natally the one thing i never have to think of is progressed sun conjunct.

for you the OP, think of the aspects your natal sun and saturn are receiving and their positions, etc. this will highlight the areas that need your focus right now.

you can glean insight if you track down when transiting saturn has been conj your natal sun ~ what issues came into play?

it's a good idea in general to track your transits and progressions; the natal themes do repeat, the same ideas are at play but they have different consequences depending on what level you're operating on. and like above you can liken any sun/saturn dynamic no matter if its your natal or transit or progressed -- and if you track em for a bit and are in tune with yourself it's pretty easy to determine the likely outcome.. speaking personally anyway.

oooh, true true, lonake. with so much to consider and keep track of in astrology i sometimes forget stuff like that.

this isn't for me, but my loverman. he's also having that stellium of chiron, neptune and jupiter squaring his natal saturn by transit.

he's heavy on the caution as it is, i mean to an EXTREME, and has been pretty much all his life. he's 23 with the wisdom of a (very wise) 60 year old. i mean, seriously seriously has his head screwed on right. i wonder how this progression will affect him because of this. whether it'll help him transcend some of the stagnance and sense of restriction (he's earned it!!), or if it'll make him feel even more suffocated due to his need to buckle his shizzle down even tighter. he's got the greatest integrity of anyone i've ever known, so i think and hope it's the former. i've only known him four years, and only really well for the last 3/4 or a year but i'll try to track down his transits and see if i glean anything there.

natally saturn conjuncts his mercury pretty tightly, and there is some other action i'll look into too. thanks!!

so i guess his saturn is in taurus or scorpio? and natally it's conj mercury - wow that is one grounded and cemented thought process!

jupiter sq transit can expand on that, as in amplify, neptune can cloud his thinking.

either way the progressed sun will bring natal saturn mercury issues to the fore to where he can't ignore them, can't act as if its unconscious anymore, you know the kind of person who accepts their thoughts, their thinking process automatically and doesnt question them (most people are like this anyway -- it takes a lot of work to be able to change how your mind works and processes information) - that kind of thinking will be very hard if not impossible for him right now.

if he were ever going to make changes to his thought process, i mean being given a time where he can consciously and easily comprehend what is behind his, what you call stagnancy, this is going to be the time.

the sun by progression conj a natal planet illuminates but that's about the only thing i can say that's a concrete fact. it's pretty much up to him but like i said it will be difficult to ignore.

gosh makes me wish my sun would progress to conj something! it's the last planet on my bowl chart - the rest of you are so lucky

haha, awesome lonake! yeah even his AC dwad is his saturn degree. heheh. it's in scorpio. he also has a lot going on in scorpio (sun/pluto exaclty conjunct, SN, mercury and saturn) in the 2nd. so he's a fixed lad indeed. so am i, though it's predominantly aquarian and taurean.

man, everything you said makes so much sense. his caution and discipline has afforded him so much wisdom but he acknowledges feeling completely stifled by it too. he's definitely beginning the implementation of changes and taking some risks.

with his pluto sun exact conjunction the resistance to changing his thinking is deep (also saturn/merc), but his mind is also deeply probing and though it seems he is stubborn, he tends to be frequently ruminating and making gradual changes. we have very different ways of thinking, but tend to basically believe the same things or perceive things similarly, so i think maybe me being in his life so closely the last year is part of this progression.. he also has an AMAZINGLY astute awareness that is just so sharp and on the money, but yet secretive in that scorpio way, so i don't wanna mess with it too much! he just gets stuff and/or doesn't say stuff till he does.

much to think about! thanks for giving me a better sense of what he is experiencing internally and how the process is unfolding. it makes a lot of sense to me!

Hiya,

I am going through transiting Saturn CONJ natal sun right now, and I can tell you that caution is not a factor at the moment. I am feeling the urge to make huge changes and reevaluating everything. Everything is on the table. I want to refocus, get serious about things I wasn't serious about before, etc. However, I am also feeling very confident and self-assured about these choices and feel a sense of "destiny" so to speak that I am on the right path, if that makes sense. I feel that when I trust my instincts, I am making good decisions.

I have yet to go through my first Saturn return though, so that may also be a consideration.

Hope that helps.

grant lewi said that saturn transitting conj sun was one of the times when you really come into your own, and get the recognition you have worked for, too, though he was very cautionary about certain timing aspects, ie if it comes when you're too young to reap the benefit it can be wasted...and next time round you may be too OLD to get the benefit, though i don't think old is as young as it used to be - if you can catch that drift!!

aww. thanks lonake

star of venus, ooh, that's great! it kinda seems like it can go either way, depending on whether you resist saturn's wisdom (which is the dark side of saturn itself; resistance or fear) or work with it. beautiful example! thanks and keep it up!!
