to those who haven't seen something like this before - correlations with the alphabet:

* Here's something basic:
-------------------------
A - Mars
B, I, P, L - Venus
C, E, X - Mercury (a Gemini characteristic)
R - Mercury (an extremely active Mercury)
D, M, O - Moon
F, W - Sun
G, N - Mercury (a Virgo characteristic)
H, S, Y - Saturn
J, Q, U - Jupiter
K - Pluto
T, Z - Neptune
V - Uranus

* And something for compatibility (the above and this were pulled from diff sources so they may contradict)
--------------------------------------------
"A" LIST
First names beginning with
A, C, E, F, J, L, P, Q, U, V, W, or X
enjoy emotional harmony with each other.

The "A" list above contains letters which vibrate to the air and fire signs. (A = Aries, C, E and X = Gemini, F and W = Leo, P and L = Libra, J, Q and U = Sagittarius, and V = Aquarius.)

"B" LIST
These first letters of first names also harmonize with each other:
B, G, H, I, K, M, N, O, S, T, Y and Z.

The "B" list contains earth and water influences. (B and I = Taurus, M and O = Cancer, G and N = Virgo, K = Scorpio, H, S, and Y = Capricorn, and T and Z = Pisces.)

But first initials in the "A" list do not harmonize with first initials in the "B" list.

Astute readers will notice the omission of two letters: D and R. These two letters serve a dual role. In some ways, D and R form a bridge between the two groups:

D = Cancer AND Aquarius,
while R = Aries AND Virgo.

(These are really approximations. Actually, R = Aries and a precise, nervous, quick Mercury influence, which as a kind of shorthand I call "Virgo." And D reflects both Cancer and Aquarius - it is kind-hearted like Aquarius, nurturing like Cancer, but stubborn and "off the beam" like Aquarius. All the sun sign labels are also a bit of an approximation, as H, for example, could refer to Saturn rather than Capricorn, but the influence is very similar.)

Harmonious Pairings:

Fire Group
A (R) = F / W
A (R) F W = J / Q / U

Earth Group
B I = G / N / (R)
B I G N (R) = S / H / Y

Air Group
C E X = L / P
C E X L P = V (D)

Water Group
M O (D) = K
M O (D) K = T / Z

Difficult Relationships

A.(R) = M.O.(D).S.H.Y
B I = F / W / V / (D)
C E X = G / N / T / Z
M O (D) = A / (R) / P / L
F W = B / I / K
G N = C / E / X / J / Q / U
H S Y = A (R) P L
J.Q.U=G.N.T.Z
K=F.W.V.(D)
L.P=M.O.(D).S.H.Y
T.Z= C.E.X.J.Q.U
V=B.I.K.

Attracts, Sparks, Challenges:

A.(R)=L.P
B.I=K
C.E.X=J.Q.U
F.W=V.(D)
G.N.(R)=T.Z
H.S.Y=M.O.(D)

--------------------------------------------

so what do you think, at least with the first letter of your name?

mine is R which correlates strongly to merc, and it is angular in my chart.

you can take into account
-dominant houses (many planets in H8 correlating to Pluto, thus "K")
-stelliums (the sign's ruling planet correlating to the letter, again scorpio stellium to "K")
-angular planets (angular pluto to "K")
-anything that would be strong in the chart if viewed for regular natal interpretation (chart ruler, sun, moon, asc, or anything else you place importance on)

or you can do the whole name and see what you come up with -- i have a strong Z in my family name which relates to neptune for instance and it so happens that Pisces hosts the chart ruler for myself, my child, one of my parents, and is also hosting personal planets (2 suns, 2 moons, and one Venus) for the 3 of us.

more info, this one's from Cosmitec,
quote:
Also, the Hebrew alphabet contains 22 letters vibrating to one of the 22 numbers, as follows:
a = 1 (Mercury)
b = 2 (Virgo)
c = 11 (Neptune)
d = 4 (Scorpio)
e = 5 (Jupiter)
f = 17 (Gemini)
g = 3 (Libra)
h = 8 (Capricorn)
i = 10 (Uranus)
j = 10 (Uranus)
k = 11 (Neptune)
l = 12 (Pisces)
m = 13 (Aries)
n = 14 (Taurus)
o = 16 (Mars)
p = 17 (Gemini)
q = 19 (Leo)
r = 20 (Moon)
s = 21 (Sun)
t = 22 (Pluto)
u = 6 (Venus)
v = 6 (Venus)
w = 6 (Venus)
x = 15 (Saturn)
y = 10 (Uranus)
z = 7 (Sagittarius)

In the English language the following letter combinations (double letters) vibrate to the following numbers:

ch = 8 (Capricorn)
ph = 17 (Gemini)
sh = 18 (Cancer)
th = 9 (Aquarius)
ts = 18 (Cancer)
tz = 18 (Cancer)

The principle is that if the final number of your full name corresponds with a benefic and powerful planet in your natal chart, your name is a prosperous one.

If the final number of your full name corresponds with a malefic and powerful planet in your natal chart, your name will take on the negative influences from that planet, bringing unlucky events and challenges in your love life. In that case you would do well changing your (first or full) name so that the final number of your total name corresponds with a harmonious planet in your horoscope.

If you want to know if a planet is harmonious and powerful in your chart, we recommend using the Cosmodynes (discussed on our Compatibility scores page ) or any other scoring system that takes into account the planetary position in house, sign and aspect (e.g. the Lilly rating system, though this system does not list the modern planets beyond Saturn).

How to proceed?

add all the letters of your full name (first, middle and last name as you are known)
remember: some double letters like the English "th" vibrate to a specific number; the th vibrates to 9, not to 22 for the 't' and 8 for the 'h'!)

break down the total number to a final number which can never exceed 22

Example: Liv Ullmann

Liv = 12 + 10 + 6 = 28
Ullmann = 6 + 12 + 12 + 13 + 1 + 14 + 14 = 72

Liv Ullmann = 28 + 72 = 100 = 1

Liv Ullmann vibrates to number 1 which corresponds with Mercury.

If Mercury is a harmonious planet in Liv's natal chart, then Liv's name is a prosperous one. If Mercury is a malefic in the natal chart, Liv's name will take on the negative influences from Mercury, bringing unlucky events. Liv would do well changing the first or, eventually, full name so that the final number corresponds with a harmonious planet in the natal chart.

This way, by searching for another appropriate (first) name, you are able to bring about the positive and harmonious energies from your name, enhancing your love life.

Women, also figure out what your single number is when you take on your husband's name!

If the combination of his name is more prosperous than your maiden name, use it, otherwise keep your maiden name!!

Anyway, don't use your married name when it corresponds with an unlucky planet in your natal chart.

Hey Lonake interesting post

My first name starts with J
J = Jupiter

Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius.

Sagittarius in my chart is the sign my chart ruler (Uranus) is in!

Hebrew: J = Uranus - my chart ruler!

My name = 6 (Venus)

Venus opposes my Saturn exact. Venus is in natural sign of Taurus. Venus also loosely opposes my Mars (9 deg) and trines Jupiter exact.

How do you tell if a planet is a malefic or benefic in your chart? Is it due to the aspects the planet makes?

This is interesting, but I don't see a connection between this and my own name.

My first name starts with a V, which vibrates to Uranus energies. I guess the only connection I can correlate with this is that Uranus is located in my first house and in Sagittarius.

hi ms candeh,

here's a link i found for you http://horoscopicastrologyblog.com/2007/06/28/benefic-and-melefic-planets-in-astrology/

you know i hate benefics and malefics in general the terms, it seems so fated and dour, but, malefics tend to be mars (lesser malefic), saturn (greater malefic), benefics jupiter (greater) and venus (lesser), the other luminaries, planets im uncertain, these 4 i believe were the first if im not mistaken, but this is going wayyyy back. i can guarantee that getting a reading today you're not going to hear either of these terms used very often, if at all, since the fatalistic aspect is sort of a throwback but some still look at em.

but if youre going that route you have to get very deep into it, which takes lot of time, since a "malefic" can also be exalted by sign and can also be exalted two fold if its in its degree of exaltation as well - like the "supreme" exaltation of saturn is known to be 21 degrees of libra, see very specific, so would you still see this as being malefic? and they tend not to look to favorably on retrogrades, etc. you can really get in deep with this considering a planet being in detriment, fall, etc. depends on what kind of astrology you like to use, i suppose. /rant

Similar to the Chaldean alphabet that I use. Difference being the planetary rulerships.
