Saturn seems to be getting so much attention these days, and yet Jupiter can cheat Saturn death grip. I think the big fellow deserves a thread of his own.

Sure, he's been hanging around Neptune and Chiron all retrograde lately, but really now, he's grand enough to show 'em all up when it comes down to it.

I'll admit I haven't studied Jupiter as much as I should -- I mean he is trine my Sun and Mercury and sextile my 9th house Moon. It's just too easy to take him for granted!

What I find most interesting about this planet is that Jupiter is the bridge between the self and others. Mars on in refer to ourselves, how we operate in the most personal way. Saturn plunges us into the realization of responsibility, the knowledge that we must pull our own weight if we are to get anywhere in a world where others exist and have needs, too. Jupiter however, first exposes us to this world by showing us its fruits, how when we expand beyond ourselves good things can happen. His placement is what kind of fruit first drew us to extend ourselves, and what the universe extends back in return.

So what does Jupiter mean to you? Where is he in your chart? Are he and his current buds Neptune and Chiron making important transits?

Lets give Jupiter some love.

Well, Sag's love Jupiter, that just comes natural. My jupiter is in Leo, so everything seems to be a good fit there.

Jupiter is making me dreamy lately. I'm in a very swoony mood!

saturn is wiser than jupiter, but jupiter is effing awesome. saturn is also about reward, but the kind of reward that comes from focus and discipline. jupter can be too gung ho and foolish.

my chart ruler is jupiter and my rising is the midpoint of my neptune and venus (both conjunct). i've been tremendously naive in love and have thusly fallen on my face several times, and HARD. jupiter made me lack the wise caution of saturn in these situations, especially as it involved neptune and venus. however my optimism is unfailing, still, and as i'm maturing i'm learning to discern between healthy optimism and foolishness.

definitely love the bridge between self and others, and i think you totally hit the nail on the head when you said:

"Jupiter however, first exposes us to this world by showing us its fruits, how when we expand beyond ourselves good things can happen. His placement is what kind of fruit first drew us to extend ourselves, and what the universe extends back in return."

go jupiter!

IMHO the only way to fall in love is hard, otherwise why do it at all.

Everything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Jupiter people do have a little trouble with moderation, but eh, so what? Someone has to do it.

If Jupiter makes you a bit unruly and hard to tame, consider yourself lucky....alot of folks who can't come out of their shells find this admirable. And so do I.
So I agree, Jupiter rocks!!!!!!

See we're only talking about jupiter and it already seems festive, ya gotta love that!

ahaha, so true gypsee!

unless you're entirely goggle eyed with someone who is really really bad for you and you keep on pushin through with that super duper optimism.

but as for eveything else, bang on. jupiter's optimism cannot be squelched and this is proof of that! haha.

heheh. right after i wrote that, the song that goes 'celebrate good times. come on!' came into my head. only in my head it was HARD times instead of good times.

how's that for optimism?

I disagree that Jupiter gets no love. Jupiter gets more love than all of the other planets because it is the original reward. Jupiter is Santa Claus, the Oscar, Disney World. I think that's why you may have dropped in on the forum when Saturn was getting a little love around here. It rarely happens. I LOOOOOOVE Jupiter, don't get me wrong, I have an over abundance of Jupiter in my chart so sometimes I have to remind myself not to totally hate Saturn.

As I'm writing this, I'm watching the Ted Kennedy motorcade going to Arlington Cemetary and watching all of these tributes is teaching me more about Saturn and Jupiter. When those two get together in a chart it's all about making a point and politics.

Ted appeared more Jupiterian in his later years and we're hearing so much about his optimism which can partially be attributed to his Jupiter trine Uranus, but I reacted to someone here merely saying "ouch" about his Saturn placement being in Capricorn at the 29th degree in the first house. At most of the tributes I've heard, we learned about his persistance, his determination, his ability to never quit. That's Saturn. Yes, ouch exists, but that's not all that Saturn offers. Saturn offered him mega-responsibility and he rose to the challenge. He became the father figure to Bobby's 9 children and Jack's 2 children in addition to his own 3 children. And to hear them talk about how he was there for them for every birthday, wedding, baptism, etc. is amazing. He became a true patriarch.

OK, back to Jupiter. I love gifts and presents. I even like chubby men Guess what my 7th house is. LOOOOOL!!!! Yup, chubby chaser here.

OK, they're at Arlington, gotta go.

lol, I do agree. I'm not saying that Jupiter gets no love. I just like balance. To me, Jupiter gives you the winning lottery ticket, and Saturn gives you the discipline to invest it wisely. At least, at their most productive. No guarantees of course.

I think Jupiter is underrated in synastry.

People post their "soul mate" blah blah blah bs on here all the time (often in conjunction with miserable relationships that are not actually happening in real life, or a third party is involved, or whatever), and it's always all Sun-Venus conjunction this [like I had exact with my ex] and Mars-Venus that.

You know what? F--k Venus!! Give me a guy whose Jupiter is all over my chart and vice-versa ANY DAY...a vibe of adventure, buoyant fun, and, especially, a naturally friendly attitude toward each other.

I was definitely one of the sad Saturn discussers recently, but I do have a strong Jupiter too and thank god, because its the only thing that could get me through me Saturnine-issues with a laugh. I'm a Sag, with 3 other planets there and Jupiter in my 1st house. I have a good sense of humor and never really take myself too seriously. Although I end up with my foot in my mouth in 75% of conversations I have luckily, thanks to Jupiter, I can laugh that off as well.

I have to admit that I sometimes ignore grand Jupiter. I'm not sure why, perhaps because I have Sagittarius Rising with a detriment Jupiter in Gemini.

Jupiter in Gemini lacks the expansive qualities that are so associated with Jupiter, so I personally feel less "expansive" than most Sagittarius Risers. Plus Jupiter is in my 6th house, adding even more mercurial energies! My Pisces moon is also square my Jupiter in the 6th and I was definitely much more heavier than I am now. I indulged in sweets to minimize stress, now I've realized alcohol is my newest indulgence, there seems to be no neutrality in my actions, I'm not sure if it has to do with a lack of Earth in my chart or what, but things tend to go one way or another.

forsure, lucia!

jupiter in synastry is phenomenal. it is so fun and forgiving and expansive and giddy. it's a very 'clean' energy for lack of a better word. other synastry involving venus, mars and pluto, the stuff that's so attracting, is often so intense because it's about us working out our 'stuff', but that same stuff is also just as easily exacerbated. whereas jupiter is just so darn kindly.

we have composite moon conjunct composite jupiter exactly. there is abundant emotional warmth, encouragement and forgiveness between us. this sits exactly on my natal chiron, so it is especially healing for me. his jupiter also conjuncts my stellium of sun, mercury in mars, and there is a lot of inspiration and warmth and benevolence there as well. interestingly our jupiters are in opposition of 6 degs and it is like we are constantly learning new ways of seeing the world through one another and it is a very encouraging energy, despite being at times confusing. like a teeter totter of kindliness. it's interesting! it's definitely an energy that evokes TRUST.
