weird little nugget of a question, but could you look at an applying aspect in synastry as the person's planet which is applying is actually making the energetic approach in the situation (meaning, is drawn to and has something to learn from the other)? and conversely, that the person making a separating aspect has energetically given itself already (fruit's ripened), and is now walking away in a sense to let the other person assimilate the lesson? i'm talking on a minute/unconscious scale though, since the aspect is still the aspect and there's still interaction, of course. hope this made sense. i still need more coffee. I haven't studied applying/separating aspects. I'd be interested to hear more.IP: Logged |

Hey woah I have come to my own conclusion about this lol .. I think that the applying is a stronger energy than the separating as the separating aspect has already been there done that ... but that's not to discount it. I also (in my mind) subconciously think that the energies aren't as intense with a separating aspect. Not hugely different and of course the energy is still there, if you know what I mean. Putting it in other words.. I feel happier to see a separating square than an applying square aspect. I prefer seeing an applying trine than a separating trine. It makes the energies easier to work with. JM2c IP: Logged |

I've studied this quite a bit and I didn't find any evidence that an applying aspect was any stronger than a seperating. If anything the seperating aspects tend to carry more knowledge and awarness with them.IP: Logged |

Hey I wondered the same thing also. I'm currently searching for the same info. With the guy I'm dating we have massive separating aspects between each other...to name a few Sun conjunct Moon, Sun conjunct Venus, Moon conjunct Venus. I hope it holds the same weight. All in Scorpio too so its still intense.IP: Logged |

it's trickyif a younger person's planets are in aspect to your chart, it's possible that you can feel the experiences of the transits that you had at the time of that person's birth. it's possible that the younger person's applying aspects to your chart could be stronly felt and you can be reminded of the past when you had those aspects to you chart as transits. while his/her separating aspects to your chart might not be strong....especially if they are wider orbed aspects. So basically applying aspects in synastry are more felt than separating ones? IP: Logged |

I am not surebut I think that it's possible that the younger person can make a person psychologically relive certain things that happen during the transits that they had at the time the younger person was born. if a person experienced a profound trauma like getting shot when transiting Pluto was in an applying close square to a person's Moon with transiting Mars in in an applying close opposition to the person's Sun, maybe they can psychologically relive that trauma when he/she interact with a person born on the day that they experienced that event.
