I'm concerned about someone I really care about who happens to be a Leo Sun. He is a great person but there is something that is inhibiting him from being happy and satisfied with himself. I remember when I first did his chart I noticed that his Leo Sun is Square his Scorpio Moon in the 4th house. I wasn't really aware of how this aspect was reflected in his personality till very recently. He truly feels like he is a under achiever even though he goes to a very prestigious university and is a very intelligent and charming person. He also has father issues, in that his father is very hard on him and basically emphasizes the role of authoritarian and dismisses his creative and unconventional side.

Here is his chart:

My remedy has been to tell him what a great person he is and how much I admire him all together, basically I've been trying to really boost his self esteem. This seems like a temporary remedy and I need some advice on how to overall help him reverse this trend of self hatred.

Hi Vertiver,

Your friend is experiencing Saturn transiting through his 2nd House of self worth. It is moving toward a square with his Natal Saturn-Uranus conjunction. Since Saturn rules his 6th House of the workplace and work in general; Saturn rules the father so his father is strongly on his mind and Uranus rules his 7th House of partnerships but the 7th House is also about public presentation.

As transiting Saturn moves closer to squaring the natal Saturn-Uranus conjunction, he may be feeling more pressure to work, but won't acknowledge his own efforts. At his age, people still take their parents opinion as gospel and it looks like his father has been very tyrannical in his life.

It also looks as if there will be some kind of a break up when transiting Saturn reaches Uranus, if he's in a relationship right now. If it's not a relationship, it's a break from something or someone. He'll be moving on to something new but he needs to make a decision. All of the difficulties he's dealing with now and will deal with in the recent future will come down to this decision he's going to make about something new in his life.

From what I can see, his father is his wound in his life. Venus conjunct Chiron, Venus rules his MC which is the father. Mars exactly squaring his Venus, there is strong aggression from his father, probably very strong anger with Mars in Aries.

I would not stop reminding him of how worthy he is, he really needs to know it, especially when he's not quite believing it. But you also have to know that this is a strong developmental point in his life. The only way through it is for HIM to move through it and get to the other side.

Good luck to him.

Geo, your advice is appreciated!

We seem to both be going through T. Saturn squaring our natal Saturn/Uranus conjunction, since I'm only 3 weeks older than him. It is interesting that you brought this transit up, because I had totally overlooked it!

I read somewhere that this transit happens for most people when they are around their early twenties and the natal Saturn/ Uranus conjunction that is being squared is also retrograde, so all this self - loathing he is experiencing is internal.

Luckily he is the kind of person that listens to what you tell them.

In general I think I need to express myself more to the people I really care about, especially with him. And I think he is receptive enough to realize that I don't think he is a lost cause. Do have any insight on his Moon placement and aspects?

i think leo's are very critical of themselves in general. they can forgive others, but not always themselves. i have always been harder on myself than anyone else would ever be. getting past it..

Yeah, I agree, Leo like any Sun sign can self loath themselves. But there is something more obvious about Leo, when they hate themselves, all the light seeps into a black hole. And I can back this up since I'm a Leo Sun as well but unlike this person that this post is dedicated too, I don't have Leo Ascendant nor a fixed water moon.
