DD's thread reminded me how ditsy I can be. For starters, I never get jokes like "what's the difference between a...?" type of jokes. I never get cookie cutter jokes that state the obvious, and they seldom make me laugh when explained. I do get convoluted ones that are drenched in double entendre though! It's like I can't think in normal and simple terms, or I over-think things... Or I am a ditz...

Is this one of Mercury in 12th's dirty works?

Or Mercury conj Saturn (5)

Mercury in Virgo 12th conjunct my ASC.
I'm the same way.
That type of humor just doesn't do much for me.
Last night this Libra guy I was talking to basically told me to throw him a bone in that department. xD
I find irony hilarious, and I tend to crack up at very inappropriate times.
I also have difficulty processing some very obvious details which causes me to come off quite air-headed.

I know it's how Mercury/Saturn works for me (the square).
Have you ever watched The Golden Girls? Do you know Betty White's character and how naive/ditzy she can be? That's me sometimes.

Anicia, MVM~ I'm glad I am not alone. It is the oddest thing though because I bet that you guys, just like I believe myself to be, are highly intelligent... except with Knock Knock jokes, or with things that are right in our faces!

MVM~ I do remember Betty White's character. Teheh

DT~ but I am so serious about this. LOL... I've asked myself this question before, but not astrologically, because I swear... There are times that I can't believe myself.

I think I'm a fairly intelligent person. In particular I'm really great with details and pressure. I can get massive amounts of work done well in very short periods of time.

If not Mercury in the 12th...
I also have Venus/Mars in Virgo conjunct ASC/Trine Uranus
Pluto in the third square Jupiter and my 6th house Moon
Saturn opposes my Sun
Maybe it has something to do with a planet

being in fall or hindered in some way?

For example I'm an 11th house Leo Sun. My Mercury is in a Virgo 12th house. Venus is in Virgo in my first house. Uranus is in my 5th.

I can be very ditzy. If you knew me in person, you would see that. I was known for being ditzy when I was in the navy. I was viewed as stupid lots of times there.
The spaciness, absentminedness, being easily confused/disoriented,slow to pick up things at first, being clumsy/a klutz and disorganized/messy,not paying attention to detail (really got me into trouble in Navy bootcamp) as well as my being perceived by stepfather as not having any common sense are all connected to each other.
That fits with my ADHD and Dyspraxia.

the indicators for those things imho:
my Neptune in 3rd is part of a t-square (conjunct Jupiter, oppose retrograde Saturn, square Moon)
Mercury parallel Neptune (Mercury conjunct Neptune in declination longitud equivalent chart)
Mercury conjunct Sun/Neptune midpoint

maybe Pallas oppose Neptune can be an indicator too.

Because of my experiences, I prefer not to use words like ditzy as well as words that imply low intelligence. I don't like it done to me,and so I don't think that I should do it to others.

Hmmm...

DT~My Mercury is in Libra.

Then my Sun is in Virgo, in 11th.
Then...
My Venus is also in fall in Virgo...

I just had a thought. Maybe the solution to this thing is staring at us right in the face, but due to our little problem... we can't see it. It's probably something so simple it's one word.

Leaving us saying, "Oh yeah..." and laughing uncomfortably because it was obvious!

Someone who doesn't have this problem needs to enlighten us!! And... Anicia, a detriment planet could be right, but my only obviously detriment planet is Venus in fall. Mercury is afflicted and thus Malefic through house placement (12th) and even there, since it rules it's own house who knows... and my 11th house Sun also (which I never knew was afflicted by house placement), which rules its own house too...

who knows actually?

Egh.

Raymond~ I understand, and I didn't mean to offend at all. It was insensitive of me.

I have:

Sun square Neptune (4)
Pallas in 12th conj AC in Scorpio

Hmmm...

"Raymond~ I understand, and I didn't mean to offend at all. It was insensitive of me. "

hey...there is no need to apologize! You were't being insensitive at all.

I was just explaining how I can relate to being very ditzy myself. I can relate.

my ditziness can take the cake.
hahahahaha

DepTaurus,

thanks......but what I said, a person really would have to see how I am in person to truly knowing me. I truly can be very ditzy or goofy.

I wonder if hard Mercury-Sedna aspects could also indicate issues with being ditzy and similar things. Maybe hard Sedna aspects involving personal planets, angles could too.

Sedna is transneptunian dwarf planet candidate that's named after the Inuit Seagoddess, and so it seems like it can be a Neptunian-like archetypal energy. The object moves much slower and has the greatest average distance of any object in our our solar system. With an aphelion of over 900 Astronomical units, no object in our solar system comes even close to that distance. It's by far, the most outer, distant, and coldest of all the objects in our solar system. In other words, it's "Way Out There" Sedna could make Neptune look logical and rational. Sedna is more otherworldly and remote to the point that it can seem overly detached. With it's extremely elliptical orbit,it can be quite the nonconformist. Very bizarre in its natural.

Albert Einstein had Mercury conjunct Sedna with 17 minutes of arc. He was known to be a stereotypically absentminded professor. He was often very forgetful about every day items. He would focus so intently on physics that he was unaware of his surroundings. The whole absentminded professor thing was probably based on him. Some believed that he had ADHD,Dyslexia,or Higher Functioning Autism too, but I don't like people posthumously diagnosed has having a certain neuro-divergence though.

I have Sun oppose Sedna with 44 minutes of arc in Right Ascension.
I also have Mercury oppose Saturn/Sedna midpoint and Sedna oppose Mercury/Uranus midpoint with 16 and 17 minutes respectively. That's from my 11th harmonic isosceles trapezoid of Mercury,Saturn,Uranus, and Sedna.

Ditzy....hmmm, my middle name. I always get jokes, and wordy type stuff, but I DO the dumbest things, and I have no idea why?

ex. Last night I was showing my son something on his laptop, we were sitting on my bed. There was a smallish ashtray in the way, so I picked it up and set it on top on a sideways pillow. And then actually watched, as if in slow motion (and in complete shock) as it slid down the pillow and spilled all over my clean comforter.
My son looked at me with his little scropio self, and cooly said, "Mom? what would make you think you could put an ash tray on a SLOPE and it wouldn't spill?"
AND, I don't know what would make me think that???? I guess it is non-thinking, or that I am thinking so far ahead, like I was thinking about what we were looking up on the laptop, not the ashtray. ???

I do these weird balance-y things all the time. Like to reach something tall, I would stack a chair on top of a book on top of a ball. YOu know? That is just an exaggeration, but you get my drift.

I constantly find my keys in the fridge, my glasses in... everywhere, but my head.
UGG, it is frustrating!!!!

O, Unmoved, I SO get you!

With my Pisces Sun and my Aqua (x3 planets, including Merc) stellium, forming 3 very close t-squares, alot of astrololgers have described me as "intellectual."

Pisces Sun keeps me quite ditzy!!! As does my Bull moon, which is a huge part of my t-squares!

(or maybe tis the blond hi-lites!!!)

I think this whole thing adds to how eccentric I am. Is that the case with you guys?

Well...

quote:
adjective, -si⋅er, -si⋅est. Slang.
flighty and easily confused; mildly or harmlessly eccentric.

I don't know about flighty, but I guess I can seem that way, although it is usually due to being uninterested in what's being said than actually being "flighty"... as sort of dismissive, e.g. "Oh yeah, that's nice."

tsk tsk tsk

hell yeah.....with strong transneptunian energy,Neptunian energy, and Uranus energy, I am definitely eccentric. I have been referred to as weird in my teens. When I was in special education, I was very eccentric in my behavior like many other special education children. A lot of those kids' behaviors rubbed off on me too,and that really concerned my parents. I guess that's the impressionable, empathetic part of me.

I do have an Aspergers way about me. Aspergers Syndrome,a mild form of Autistm is one of the neurodivergent conditions that have overlap with Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and ADHD that I have. The hallmark of Aspergers Syndrome is problems understanding emotional/social cues which is a problem that I don't have.

Exhibiting nonconformist behavior and thinking is very natural to me. It is so natural that I didn't pay it any mind when I was growing up. Astrology helped me understand it though.

my strong Saturnian energy manifests into my being conscientious and caring too much how people think and feel about me as well as wanting to fit in and be normal in society.
In the navy, I had no choice but to conform and try to be normal which didn't really work for me at all. The military is all uniformity, conformity, and fitting in with others. It's about being part of a unit with no emphasis on being an individual. They teach that in bootcamp. It's like brainwashing. It didn't work on me though, and it doesn't work on many others too.

I was diagnosed as having schizotypal personality disorder when I was in my last year in the navy after I got into New Age,metaphysical stuff and was open about it.

schizotypal personality disorder is a diagnosis has to do with being eccentric, peculiar with issues with being a loner and some belief in metaphysical things.

What Is Schizotypal Personality Disorder?

Schizotypal personality disorder is one of a group of conditions called eccentric personality disorders. People with these disorders often appear odd or peculiar. They may display unusual thinking patterns, behaviors, or appearances.

People with schizotypal personality disorder may have odd beliefs or superstitions. These individuals are unable to form close relationships and tend to distort reality. In this respect, schizotypal personality disorder can seem like a mild form of schizophrenia -- a serious brain disorder that distorts the way a person thinks, acts, expresses emotions, perceives reality, and relates to others. In rare cases, people with schizotypal personality disorder can eventually develop schizophrenia.
What Are the Symptoms of Schizotypal Personality Disorder?

People with schizotypal personality disorder display a combination of odd behavior, speech patterns, thoughts, and perceptions. Other people often describe these individuals as strange or eccentric. Additional traits of people with this disorder include the following:

Â

* Dressing, speaking or acting in an odd or peculiar way
* Being suspicious and paranoid
* Being uncomfortable or anxious in social situations due to their distrust of others
* Having few friends and being extremely uncomfortable with intimacy
* Tending to misinterpret reality or to have distorted perceptions (for example, mistaking noises for voices)
* Having odd beliefs or magical thinking (for example, being overly superstitious or thinking of themselves as psychic)
* Being preoccupied with fantasy and daydreaming
* Tending to be stiff and awkward when relating to others
* Coming across as emotionally distant, aloof, or cold

i tend to have laugh's at inappropriate times. i love dirty jokes. dumb jokes. practical jokes. fart jokes...(i know at my age.??.)

i love to "get" people that don't "get" stuff right away.

I had my son's girlfriend believing one saturday morning that i worked part time as a garage sale inspector and was going to have shut some down if they didn't have good stuff..she believed me for quite awhile...i think that kind of thing is hilarious.

Glacus...

I grew up on a dairy farm...

And I have to apologize, as I often do here, that I am more of an "elemental astrologer" I really am quite inspired by the basic elements...

So, I witnessed these cows, for many, many years, just being in the moment, then a fly bugs them, they swish their tails, then a truck drives by and they raise their heads and look, then go back to grazing, then something with a bit more magnitued crosses their field of vision and they freak out, almost as if to say "what the hell? where did you come from...." while all-the-while things were crossing their paths, they just chose not to bother..

So cowy!

So, me, but my Aquarian-Coloured, Pisces soul has alot to do with my detachment, and my Bull Moon just does not care alot of times.

I have had alot of Bull Sun friends in life and I could and do use "ditzy" to describe them....but it is, I think, just from an energetically frame of reference of WAY layed-backness..

Sorry, I am out there today....

Swimming...

shrugs

the thing that puzzled me about Taurus being ditzy is that it's a sign associated with being earthy,practical,no-nonsense,stability,security

I think the ditzy stuff is reflected by something else in the chart like hard Neptune aspects or hard Sedna aspects.

Good food for thought!

Maybe my (self) percieved Taurean/(Pisces)-ditzyness is merely my way-out-thereness way of looking at my earth (and others) energies from an already "altered" point of view..

Hmmm

will have to ponder!

Moon in Taurus is nice to have imho.
I like the earthiness, grounding, practical, stable, secure nature of it. very sensual too.

it really depends on other things. There was a guy that had Moon in Taurus, and he was anything but stable. He beat up women. He had a close opposition of Moon in Taurus and Venus in Scorpio. He also had Sun in Libra exactly quincunx his Moon. He had Pluto conjunct/oppose the Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis.

The only real legitimate Earth in my chart is a Virgo Ascendant, but transneptunian dwarf planet,Haumea in Virgo is 2'12 degrees conjunct it. Haumea modifies the Virgo Ascendant into being more otherworldly, peculiar than other Virgo Ascendants.

I have Juno in Virgo in 1st,and I do prefer more grounded, practical type of partners.

Sedna has been in Taurus for many years. It was in Taurus in 1971 when I was born. It was retrograde in 2'06 Taurus. It's still in Taurus. It's currently retrograde in 21'54 Taurus.

Many people with Taurus planets will have their Taurus planets conjunct Sedna within 3 degrees. I use no more than 3 degree orbs for transneptunian objects.
