Do parents and children always have Saturn aspects?

Since parent/child is one of the most fundamental of all teacher/student relationships what happens when there are no Saturn aspects between parent and child?

Does this mean the relationship is not going to be a long lasting one? Or that maybe they don't have much to learn/teach one another? Does Saturn work as glue in parent/child relationships like it does in romantic synastry?

Both of my parents' Saturns square my Sun.

My friend Bret has a child and his Saturn squares her Mars and Saturn.

I don't think that if there is a lack of Saturn aspects alone can lead to a breakdown of a parent/child relationship.

my saturn squares my daughter's uranus/jupiter conjunction (in her 4th house) and trines her venus - and hers squares my asc/dsc axis. the orbs are less than 3*.

my saturn opposed my mom's venus, and hers is conj my dsc. my father's sat/pluto exact conjunction trines my moon and conj my uranus, while my sat squares his merc...

My saturn does not aspect my daughters personal planets at all. And her saturn is sextile my moon, and conjunct my asc. I'm wondering what the dynamic will be since it's her saturn aspecting my personal planet and axis. Will she be the teacher?

Can I ask how the saturn aspects play out between everyone and their parents/children?

the asc conj saturn is common for parents and their children, noting a time in the parent's life when responsibility (saturn) became a focus (transiting the asc). saturn transiting h5, as child's saturn in parent's h5, would seem to be common as well.

with my daughter, synastry:
-my saturn trine sun, ascendant, forming a grand trine, square mercury, inconjunct venus, trine neptune
-her saturn conj asc, opposite mercury, square jupiter, trine uranus

with my mother:
-her saturn trine jupiter
-my saturn square mercury, inconjunct venus

and my father:
-his saturn conj nn, square mars, square saturn
-my saturn square asc, square saturn, square mars, conj chiron, inconjunct venus

gemgemgem,

i think she'll add structure to your life, as being around her will always remind you of that past saturn conj asc you were having in the midst of the pregnancy and/or labor/her early childhood. i don't think she'll teach so much in words as her -presence- will continually remind you to keep yourself on track. this is one instance where it seems to really feel that someone is a permanent transit, even though that phrase is thrown around a lot in synastry it's hard to not notice when it's saturn, of all of them, conj the asc.

will be interesting what happens when saturn again comes to conj your asc at the same time she experiences her saturn return. that looks to be a time of serious re-evaluation of your relationship. or maybe this has already occured.

Oh heck yeah

My Saturn is in the sign of my mothers Sun
and vice versa.

My daughters have their Saturn conjunct my Ascendant (both are in the 12th house)
There is definately role-reversal here.

My Saturn is conjunct my Son's Ascendant
(and Rules his Asc.)

If you don't find Saturn aspects in the parent, child relationship, I'd start looking at the angles.
This is way to Karmic of a relationship for there to be nothing.

Lonake, I couldn't have described it better myself! Yes, she adds structure to my life, like a ton of bricks and cement add structure to a house. She's also added an air of seriousness to me as well that I never had before. I used to be the airhead, flighty irresponsible one that no one could depend on. She's given this old tree some roots.

I find it so interesting that many parents have their children's saturn conjunct their Asc. She was born shortly after my 28th birthday, around the time of my saturn return too.

Lalalinda, my daughter teaches me something new everyday just by being who she is! Sometimes at night if I hear a scary noise, I run to her bed and end up sleeping next to her, instead of the other way around! I would definitely call that role reversal!

Thank you for your posts!

Hey Gem -

I don't think your one-sided Saturn aspects necessarily mean that she will be your teacher. It could mean that the experience of being a mother is a grounding experience for you, one where you're constantly becoming more Saturnized.

Perhaps she doesn't need Saturn lessons from a parent, and you will be teaching her other things in life. Maybe if it's your Jupiter aspecting her planets, she needs you to teach her about hope and freedom.

I think all the planets can teach us and enrich our lives, they just have different parts of life to teach us about.

Saturn synastry in my family - I checked and my parents had/have Saturn aspects with all of their children, usually mutual.

edit: I should've read the whole thread before responding. I apologize for being redundant.

Thanks Jane! I actually have a ton of Moon aspects to her personal planets. She's an Aqua Mooner in the 12th house, so hopefully I can inspire her to be more expressive and open with her feelings. I've read 12th house mooners tend to be more the quiet, reserved type.

I was worried that with very little saturn aspects from me to her, that there would be no glue or lessons for me to teach her. But you are right, lessons don't all have to be saturn lessons. I throw all my personal planets in her 4th house, I think I read somewhere that could be karmic too.

I have a double whammy Sun/Saturn with my little guy: my Sun is sextile his Saturn, and my Saturn is square his Sun.

His Saturn is also in my 5th house, conjunct my NN. My Saturn is in his 12th house.

Other interesting parent/child aspects:

*My Moon in his 7th house, my Sun in his 11th house, his Uranus conjunct my Ascendant (now THAT is appropriate--unplanned pregnancy!)

All my family member's Saturns conjuncts
my moon in 1st.
Love them dearly, but its a dead zone emotionally.

My Saturn :
Squares my mother's sun, trines her moon and venus, squares her mercury, uranus and chiron.

Her saturn squares my mercury, conjuncts my AC, quincunxes my NN.

My Saturn trines my father's venus, quincunxes his mars.

His saturn squares my sun, conjuncts my moon,
trines my venus and mars.

Anyone want to swap aspects?

Judging by this thread, I'd say Saturn most certainly shows up quite often in parent/child synastries.

I never really thought about this so I checked and my mom's saturn opposes my moon while my dad's conjuncts it. Crazy! Explains a lot too...Anyway to answer your question- Was looking at my father and his mother's chart- her Saturn makes no aspect to his or vice versa. My father actually really set his own path and sought "parental" figures elsewhere, so I guess the lack of Saturnal aspects reflects that.

My Son has his Sun squared by my Saturn and opposed by his mom's Saturn. Avg 2 degree orb.
My daughter has her Saturn trined by my Mars and her Moon conjuncts her mom's Saturn.

It is very rare to NOT see Saturn aspects between parents and children.

Oh yeah

My Sun in Scorpio quincunx retrograde Saturn in Gemini forms a yod with my mom's retrograde Mars in Capricorn. all aspects under 1 degree.

My Sun is in her 5th house
My Saturn is in her 12th house
Her Mars is in her 7th house

whole sign house rulership: Mars rules her 5th and 10th house house and Saturn rules her 7th and 8th houses

She has her 5th/10th house ruler Mars in Capricorn sextile her 7th/8th house ruler Saturn in Scorpio in 5th.

I've just looked at this for the first time with my mom. We have lots of saturn contacts, but the one that stands out is her saturn conjuncts my pluto, and my saturn conjuncts her pluto!

I take it back. My Saturn is conjunct my youngest son's Vertex and opposite his DNA. That's not nothing I suppose.
