I was thinking the other day of certain aspects in synastry and/or natal charts, and the first one which struck me the most vividly was Venus square Saturn in association with the heart-wrenching movie, 'The Remains of the Day'. Anyone seen it? A tale of constipated love. Really sad but lovely. And frustrating ... but seems to really capture the essence IMO of how Venus/Saturn square can play out in a natal chart or in synastry.

I was trying to think of some other aspect/movie connections, and then thought 'Monster's Ball' would also be another example of how Pluto/Venus in hard aspect might play out. Dark, scary, intense, and yet redemptive as well in the deep intimacy it generates.

Can you guys think of some other examples for aspects and how they might play out in the form of movies? I find the storyline and visual contexts helpful sometimes with understanding

Great topic! Hope people will have good ideas--unfortunately, my only aspect that's playing out Neptune-conjunct-No-Sleep.

I loved that film ("The Remains of the Day")... I have composite Venus square Saturn with someone very dear to me, and there are certainly similarities.

Edited: We also have composite Sun conjunct Neptune. Such pain and frustration for YEARS.

I saw The Remains of the Day when it first came out many years, on a romantic date with someone I was interested in. Let's just say it was not a good pick.

I really love this topic MVM. I haven't thought it through yet, (I'm still constipated on my same aspect as 'The Remains of The Day' people, lol.) But the first movie that popped into my head, was 'Serendipity' what on earth aspect would make you fall in love at first sight, but be so...suspicious? careful? umm, superstitious that you would chuck it all away to see if it will play out through fate and destiny????

Gypsee, I think Neptune adds romance as well as paranoia LOL. Saturn would chuck it out or get all cold about it. But then Saturn is glue-y too, so hmm....

I never saw Serendipity though (I know, I really should)... so I have no idea.

Darn it, I wanna play MVM's game, but I stink at this stuff...gonna try anyway and take one for the team.

K, what about (in honor of Mr. Swayze) the movie Ghost. So here we have a soul mate connection for sure. Some smiley Sun/Venus stuff I would dare say...Yet Swayze's character cannot verbalize his love for Molly, played by Demi Moore. Maybe something in his own chart or maybe a fear from a past life connection, via Saturn/Neptune? But in order to pass onto the next life Swayze HAS to let Molly know that he loved her. Atonement, Saturn aspects for sure. Also, with the theme of the movie being the beyond, or paranormal, I would venture to say they had Uranus aspects to one another as well.

How'd I do for a novice and all???

I don't know

He was murdered and he feared Molly was in danger, especially when the dude that murdered him was in his apartment. He tracked him down, and it turned out that his friend was behind it all. I think that had a lot to do about his not being able to move on into the light.

The Whoopi Goldberg as the medium had to help him communicate with Molly.

btw...I think Pluto is the planet that is connected to paranoia. Paranoia has to do with being suspicious and its often connected to trust issues.
Neptune seems more to do with anxiety and phobias....especially with connected to Saturn.

fact: cerebellar vestibular dysfunction aka vestibular disorder, inner ear problems cause phobias and anxiety disorders.

Saturn is the planet that rules the ears too.

woah city - Strangely there are LARS type people in the world. I've met him.

When Dreams may Come with Robin Williams. The scene where he decends into Hell to find his wife sitting in a Hell version of their house. Totally 12th house - probably Sun in 12th.

Amelie very Piscean.

The Painted Veil - Saturn Conjunct Venus.

Anyone seen it?

He is of serious demeanour, she marries him for status and security. So her family will stop moaning about her not being married, really, and he's a doctor. Always sounds good.

She's not in love with him though. She gets bored, and has an affair with someone who proves to be using her for amusement.

Now Saturn kicks in with the constructive part of the conjunction. Though he mentions the word divorce, her husband does genuinely love her, and will not take betrayal lying down (as it were). He takes her away with him working into a remote part of the country (China). In time they bond together in an enduring way where she comes to love and respect him, but tragically, this is Hollywood, and he dies before the birth of their child. It may well not be his biological child, but we still have the Saturn/Venus motif here - her love for him endures when we see her again a few years later, devoted to the child bearing his name, and walking past her ex-lover (possibly the child's biological father) in the street after a polite hello only.

I saw it, Blue Moon! I love Edward Norton too - he was amazing in that movie (in all movies, admittedly...such a wonderful actor)
Part of me was really upset because I knew he would die (figured it out), and I was left really ticked off about it.
Almost as ticked off as The Remains of the Day.... so yeah. I can see the Venus/Saturn there for sure!

Gypsee, I love that you used Ghost as an example

I was thinking of the movie "The Reader"..

Don't know or it's because I'm too focussed on Eros right now but I would say:
Eros in aspect to Eros? (conj./opp.)

Eros contacts to Eros in themselves make little comment either way on the duration of the relationship.

so, as it does not care for the longterm commitments and this lovers-union has nothing at all of consciously looking into the future (nor the past) .. just experiencing...yes, later on there will be looked back but as eros/eros stands for NEVER FORGET/transformation on a deeper level..

have to think more about this one..

If anyone has a better thought?

See you guys can do this stuff so well.

Somebody do 'Cold Mountain'!

Glaucus, funny you should mention that, my brother had inner ear problems as a child, but they've labeled him shcizophrenic because of his paranoia, well, that and other episodes.
And it is true that Swayze had to save Molly and avenge his death, but he also had to say "I love You" to Molly in actual words, because he only said "ditto", all the time, and he did not want to leave without her knowing that he truly did love her.
