Lynda Hill's Newsletter - Emerging From the Mine to Flying in Formation: October's Aries Full Moon

I met a hundred men going to Delhi and every one is my brother. Indian Saying

There is a destiny that makes us brothers,
No one goes his way alone;
All that we send into the lives of others,
Comes back into our own.
Edwin Markham

In isolation I ruthlessly plow the deep silences, seeking my opportunities like a miner seeking veins of treasures. In what shallow glimmering space shall I find what glimmering glory? Jamaica Kincaid

Underground issues from one relationship or context invariably fuel our fires in another. Harriet Lerner

Don't refuse to go on an occasional wild goose chase. That's what wild geese are made for. Henry S. Haskins

October's full Moon promises to be a very interesting one. Falling on Sunday October 4, this Moon has very interesting mixed messages for our consideration (consider is an interesting word, it means literally "to observe the stars".) The full Moon degree is Aries 12: A Flock of Wild Geese:
This is a beautifully inspiring image of brotherhood and Aquarian ideals. Watching 'Geese' fly can inspire feelings of group cohesion and the beauty of natural rhythms. The 'Flock' shows the need to join with others in a journey or quest. Remember to take your cue from the 'Wild Geese' – when they fly in formation, they take turns in leading the way. Likewise, when one gets tired or sick, another takes the lead. Whilst this is a Symbol of working together with others, be wary of losing your sense of individuality. There may be a feeling of wanting to leave behind previous life constraints; to spread your wings and seek freedom from difficulties. However, there's a need to take note of "seasonal" variations that are happening around you. Obviously there is a time to "fly" and a time to relax and recover. You can't always be on the go; you must look after your needs for nourishment and sleep. 'Geese' are known for forming lifelong partnerships, so marriage or partnership may indeed be a consideration. However, it can sometimes be hard to "ground" relationships. This Symbol is very much about brotherhood, respect and getting along with others. Setting out with those of like mind can lead to an expanded view of life or indeed a whole new adventure. Having said that, taking off on tangents with others whilst you could be making more permanent and loyal commitments to the long term can really test relationships. Remember to be aware of your responsibilities, to both yourself and others in the group. Know that there is support out there for you; just ask.

Keywords:Aquarian ideals of brotherhood. Attunement to planetary rhythms. Spirit liberated from matter. Wanting to take off by one's self, but not being able to. Focused group activity and support. Group mentality, action and agreement. Intuition and telepathy. Choreography. Camaraderie. "Honking" to egg each other on. Flying in the slipstream. Responses to seasonal changes. Migrating at the right times. Traveling. Herds, Gangs. Broods. Flying in formation.

The Karmic Condition (the degree before) this full Moon is Aries 10: A Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms to Traditional Images. This speaks of new dimensions breaking through old thought patterns and behavior, being ahead of one's time, ideas out of the past for the future, rewriting the book. Many will want to, or have to, rewrite many of the rules, aspirations, dreams, illusions and signatures of their lives.

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun is Libra 12: Miners Are Emerging From a Deep Coal Mine. This is such a diametrically opposing Symbol from the Geese with their purity, whiteness and affinity for snow. The 'Miners' often have blackened or darkened faces and clothes; no slipstream for them, their domain is deep within, confined, often dangerous, going places that few dare to go. The Geese fly above in wonderful formation, acting as a community, although the Coal Miners do this as well - they have to support and look out for one another. They've been working hard, and now the siren has sounded and their shift is finished. Coming back to the surface, they can take a deep breath and feel themselves infused with fresh energy. Even if the Sun is going down at the end of the day, it and fresh air can bring a new awareness and wonder at being alive. The 'Miners' are free for now and finished with the day's work.

You may feel you've been operating in the dark, or in some kind of underworld. When we've been submerged in work, deep issues or confined spaces for a long time, we often end up feeling suppressed and worn-out. Thoughts and emotions can be clouded with doubt and fear making them difficult to plumb or discover. You may even feel you have been in some kind of hell; perhaps you've had to go into the depths in the search for something. A feeling of breathlessness can erupt, especially if you are unable to understand what's happening. Take a deep breath and learn to relax. Delving deeply can bring messages from the subconscious that reveal surprising things. However, it is often not enough to merely find the message; there's also a need to bring any realizations into the clear light of day so that you, and others, can benefit from this passage and learn to breathe more freely. Imagine coming back to the surface, taking a deep breath and feeling yourself infused with the energy of fresh air and sunshine. Look carefully at situations, it may take time for your eyes to adjust to the new light. Even if you need to go back within, into the 'Deep Coal Mine' in the near future, having faith and the acceptance of being able to operate and see in "the dark" will assist you with any problems you may encounter. If you are 'Emerging' with others, this can lead to a 'Deep' sense of camaraderie, as people realize that they’ve been through the same straights and have come out okay.

Keywords: Release from arduous labor. Stopping work. Coming into the light. Deep subconscious healing. Hypnotherapy. Going into dark places. Claustrophobia. Memories from the past or out of nowhere. Things dark and "gothic". Lung and breathing problems. Persephone emerging. The labyrinth of the mind. The mind flooding. Tunnel vision. Caves. Mines. Digging for answers. Relief and time off. Ghost stories. Being the "canary" in the mine. Work.

The Caution: Gloomy outlooks. Not seeing potentials. Emerging with a "blackened face". Difficulty breathing. Earning a living being a life and death situation. Working hard for small rewards. Emotional loops. Things hard to escape. Fear of confinement or capture.

The Karmic Condition of the Sun is Libra 11: A Professor Peering Over His Glasses At His Students. This speaks of lenses of perception, judging others, seeing that others get the message versus seeing a clear image of their humanity, observing others and seeing your reflection, giving advice, teachers, professors, the ability to 'read others'.

This full Moon is fascinating in the light of the juxtaposition of the Geese and the Coal Miners. Further to subterranean issues coming to the surface is Venus, the ruler of the Sun in Libra on Virgo 17: A Volcanic Eruption Bringing Dust Clouds, Flowing Lava, Earth Rumblings. This can bring up torrents of thought or emotion, anger that needs expression, eruptions that are quickly overcome, aftershocks, waiting for the dust to settle, cathartic release, volcanoes, earthquakes, earth tremors, rumblings, earth changes, tantrums, choking air, overreactions. Venus has to be dredging up some things on this degree and it may be hard to contain the energy. If you, or someone close to you, has been holding things inside, building up tension or not acknowledging feelings, things can come tearing out in a rush without much thought or reflection.

Venus is quincunx (150 degree aspect - like an itch that's hard to scratch) Jupiter at Aquarius 18: A Man Unmasked At A Masquerade. This can have things revealed about people and it can prove to be quite difficult to keep up one's facade or charade or false front. Motives are often revealed with no chance of concealment.

There's a very strong Finger of Fate aspect on this full Moon. It's between Mercury, Mars and Neptune. Things said, realized, accomplished, accepted, come up for finalization but it feels like it's through a greased lens or a fog. The theme is very much about relationships, people being squeezed in and the issue of living in harmony or together with others - and relationships seem to be quite stressed like a taut rubber band.

Mercury's message is one of love, purity, sharing and dependent and co dependent relationships. The Symbol is Virgo 24: Mary and Her White Lamb. This degree can speak of simple childlike innocence or pure escapism, naiveté, the Mary and Jesus story, dependence, kindness, friendship, the bond between animals and humans, believing in the essential goodness of others, the urge to prove something, obsessions, compulsions, not wanting to exist without the other. Read about the nursery rhyme here.

Mars brings in a very interesting dimension to all this. The Sabian Symbol is Cancer 24: A Woman and Two Men (or A Man and Two Women) Cast Away on a Small Island. This speaks of people trying to get along, and relationship triangles of all kinds, too many people in a relationship (or none), having to accommodate the needs and wishes of many, claustrophobia, isolation, love affairs, step families, sexual infidelity, misleading relationships, being shut out, not being able to choose, having to choose as a result of people's actions.

Neptune is on a telling degree at Aquarius 24: A Man Turning His Back on His Passions Teaches Deep Wisdom From His Experience. As Neptune is transiting retrograde over this degree, it appears that something you may have faced, or, perhaps, turned your back on, may come up for revision for another try or face off. With Neptune involved, of course it's hard to tell which way you're facing. With Mars on the relationship triangle Symbol, there's bound to be a lot going on.

One thing is certain, lessons are learnt on this full Moon. This is a very dynamic full Moon. There's more to say, but then there always is!
