I live in China where table tennis and basketball are king. To a slightly lesser extent, football and badminton.
Since I have started playing both B-ball and table tennis, many Chinese have praised me for my skills. But the Chinese in general are to damn nice.
I loved basketball from the ages of 16-19, but have had a bit of a hiatus as of late. For three years or more. I am 24 and I am playing again. From 16-19, I was a pure shooter. My friends knew me as the guy who could calmly knock down a three point shot. Sometimes I would catch fire like the video game NBA Jam, and a center running arms stretched could not stop me.
Funny thing is, now, with my current friends, I am a center, not a shooting guard! And I have struggled with that position. I am lanky, at 186 cm, but not center material, even at a small western university. I only about 78/79 kg! Maybe in Beijing I could keep my shooting guard position, but not here! But I have started to become used to my role and am learning quickly.
My Chinese friends say I am clever on the ping pong table and learn quick. I actually really like the game. Although I f---ing hate math with a strong passion, it is a game of angles, and angles work for me in this game. I love it when the ball strikes the edge (or corner) of the table. The very edge. And I have a knack for hitting the ball (save sexual innuendos for another post) on the edge of the table so it is impossible for even a great PP player to get it.
My eyes are going to **** , and they are sensitive to sunlight, but I am starting to knock down those threes again despite the obstacles.
I like to be active I find. I mean, I need to get in that habit though. I can easily get out of that habit, which is a habit in itself. But once I am in the habit (damn I said that word to much) it is addicting.
If I could I would play ping pong for two hours than run around the courts shooting hoops for an hour more, it would be a perfect day. Than I can cuddle with an equally active sweet heart and have a few beers while we watch some great tv shows/movies. Wake up and hike and do the two great sports.
Badminton is fun too. I had a friend who would play badminton with me, and it was fun to just dive and make all sorts of crazy strikes to make the birdie fly over the net.
My ex and I played paddle, and we would see how many times we could hit it back and forth without the ball hitting the ground. She was great, our record was in the 100s. She was a leo rising, which matched with my moon perhaps. great girl, she was up for anything!
I love football and watch all the time, but can not play for sh!t. I would love to try being the goalie though, but the net seems to large!
Ultimate frisbee was awesome. In HS, sorry to not be humble, but I was that kid that came from nowhere and made that "nasty" grab. The other students were amazed at some of my grabs. But outside of gym I was very reserved. So I guess it is my time to brag, I was pretty damn good at UF and made some incredible catches.
I think my future gf needs to strike that fine balance between being totally up for any kind of active stuff and still enough of as girl with strong emotions...hmm. There is a girl I find attractive not for her looks, but how versatile she is at many sports while still being girly away from sports. pLus an upbeat, bouncy (without being f---ing annoying) personality). Love a girl with gestures, facial expressions, etc.
