If Aries is in my 5th house and my boyfriend's Sun is in Aries, does that automatically mean that his Sun is in my 5th house?
...
Similarly, if Virgo is in his 8th house and my Sun is in Virgo, does that mean my Sun is in his 8th house?

Or do the degrees have anything to do with it all? If so, how many degrees does it have to be for it to count? Thanx for your time

Yes, it typically means that unless your house cusps aren't completely inclusive, ie, your 5th house ends at 16* virgo and his sun is 18* virgo. And vice versa with beginning house cusps.

it really depends on the house system being used. There are over 30 house systems. Most people use Placidus and Koch house systems which are two of the many unneven house systems.

there is also the equal house system. The houses are determined by the degree of the Ascendant. If the Ascendant is in 13 Virgo, then all the other cusps are 13 degrees successively.

the oldest house system is the whole sign house system. It's when a zodiac sign is the whole house for all houses in the chart. It depends on the placement of the Ascendant. If a person's Ascendant is in 13 Virgo, then his 1st house is 0'00 Virgo, then all the other cusps are 0'00. I think that's where people actually got the cusp idea in regards to when a planet is about to leave a sign to enter a sign. They are unwittingly using a whole sign house concept.

I have been a Placidus house system user for the longest, and I have recently switched to the Whole Sign house system. I won't get into my reasons why because I can turn it into essay.

My answer to you is "Yes", If Aries is your whole 5th house, I'd count your bf's Sun in Aries as being in the 5th house because his Sun is in the sign that is your 5th house.

my answer would be "Yes, If Virgo is his whole 8th house, I'd count your Sun in Virgo as being in the 8th house because your Sun is in the sign that is his 8th house.

There are no intercepted signs in the equal sign and whole sign house systems. These tend to be more of an issue in the high latitudes, especially the polar regions.

I don't live in high altitudes and I have intercepted houses. I think they are very important, as are the cusps of the houses.

BUT when someone DOES live in high altitudes, it does become a problem using this house system.

Honestly I think anything in Astrology can be made to be important, especially if it dismisses a possible discrepancy.

I think that it it can applies to so many things that can be up to serious debate in Astrology.

I never saw anything special about the intercepted signs. My mom had Sun in intercepted Gemini in her 12th house in the koch, placidus house systems. Her Sun worked like a Gemini with it being in 12th house, especially with it trining Neptune.

She had Sagittarius intercepted in her 6th house.

in whole sign house system and equal sign house system, her 6th house ruler (Jupiter) is in her 1st house conjunct her Ascendant. That reflects the strong health theme in her life.

my exgf has Sun,Mercury, and Mars in intercepted Aries in 1st house as well as Pluto in intercepted Libra in 7th house. She seemed to express her Aries okay. There was restrictiveness with Moon conjunct Saturn any way.

in whole sign house system, her Moon conjunct Saturn moves into the 9th house with Pluto in 8th conjunct it. in the qaudrant house systems, her Moon-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio and Pluto in Libra are in 7th house.

in whole sign house, her Sun,Mercury,Mars are in Aries in 2nd house. the emphasis on security, self worth...not just money and possessions.
