Hello IqHunk,
I am an amateur learning the basics of astrology. I am using the chart of my Indian friend to study aspects of synastry.Lucia told me in another thread that you are very knowledgeable about synastry charts. I am posting the synastry chart of her and this guy. Could you please take a look and advice me if they have a future together?
She is going through a very tough time and I want to help her find some solace.
Thank you very much.

She's on the outside, isn't she? I ask because she is the IC person and he's the AC. It's a bad combo.

Hi diana,
You are right, she is on the outside. Why is that AC-IC combo bad?

Hi Lonake,
why is this fourth-first house overlay bad?

I don't know yet, but it is. This is the 4th chart I've seen with it in a month where it is bad. Something about those angles connecting is bad. Maybe IC is too deep for AC, which is more detached and superficial.

Hi diana,
The fourth house is the house for home, so if the first house which represents self falls in the partner's fourth house, would it not mean that the 1st house person feels at home with the other person?
Pardon my ignorance, I readily admit that I could be completely wrong.

You would think so, but it seems there's also something else going on, because these relationships aren't working out, except for one.

Hi Diana,
Thanks for the insight. What else seems to be irrevocably wrong with this synastry and what are the positives that they even crossed paths, not once but again and again?

From first look, this does not look too encouraging.

Ascendants in Signs that square each other need plenty of other harmonious aspects.
Also, Sun conj Neptune with the above Ascendant situation creates more confusion that dreamy romance.
Saturns do not look too well aspected either.

I have to make the full charts to get a very accurate picture. There are some aspects in creating attraction, like Moons in opposing signs and Mars-Venus opposition.

Hi Iq,
thanks for the prompt response. Correct me if I am wrong, but one Asc is in Pisces and the other is Gemini, they are trine to each other rather than square. Gemini is the 4th sign from Pisces, right?

hi, Pisces and Gemini are signs in square with each other. Although in this case, the ACs are not in square by degrees, which would be less conflicting.

Hi Comica,
Thanks for the response. I can never figure out the calculation for the squares, trines. What do these charts tell you?

On the bright side, there are some nice house overlays for romantic attraction and comfort -- both people have several planets in the other person's 7th house of partnership/marriage, so they probably viewed each other as the "ideal partner" when they first met.

His moon in her 4th house/conjunct the IC creates deep comfort and a private bond; they probably had a strong emotional connection. Ditto for her moon in his 8th (deep, intense feelings). BUT, both of their moons are difficultly aspected, with his moon tightly squaring her Pluto (OUCH! Manipulation, power struggles, exploiting each other's emotions, possibly even emotional blackmail.) And her moon squares his Jupiter, encouraging emotional excess and high/low mood swings instead of rationality.

The biggest binding factor is the alignment of his nodal axis (with Pluto on his south node) with her AC/DC axis. This is extremely powerful and it activates his Pluto qualities, which are deeply embedded in his psyche from past lives.

Not only that, but her Venus and Mercury are square his Pluto -- and those are the only major aspects either planet makes. So much intensity, so much pain, so much obsession.

In fact, looking at these charts, they probably both bring out each other's Scorpionic tendencies... lots of intense emotions, maybe suffocating each other and then lashing out vengefully. Not a whole lot of stability, but they keep coming back together because of the attraction produced by the 7th house overlays. Along with that Mars/Venus opposition -- lots of chemistry.

The other problem area is her sun in his 6th and his Venus in her 6th. Sometimes this creates an unbalanced relationship where one (or both) people are feeling like they're doing all the work, are in a subordinate or uncomfortably dominant position -- basically lopsided power instead of equality.

It really does not look like a healthy relationship from a synastry standpoint. But, I strongly believe anything can work out if both people are willing, mature, and self-aware...

Is she dating him yet or are they just friends?

Hi Origami_Salami,
thanks a ton for the thorough analysis. They are not dating, she broke up with him 3 months back, but she is still in love with him.
She is basically someone who is open about her emotions. Her Pisces Asc makes her a very sensitive person who gets hurt easily but she hides it well.
The main reason for their breakup was that he was uncommunicative, which surprises me since their Mercuries are so well aspected. She felt that he was unwilling to meet her halfway, any mention of any heavy talk and he would turn tail and shut her out. They had been talking on and off for 9 months and she wanted to know where they were headed and he was stonewalling her.
I dont know if they would ever come together again and I cant seem to make her see reason to stop obsessing over him.
Will their progressed chart give any clue?

Hey Origami,
Just a thought. He is having Saturn passing over a lot of his planets in the next 2 years. Do you think that will make him stop and consider his behaviour? will it make him a bit more mature, a bit more open and not so afraid of his feelings and of others' feelings for him?
Saturn went over his Pluto, but I don't know if it made him any mature. He is unhappy with his job, but he refuses to share his problems with her.
Maybe it is a guy thing, who knows.

Hey Iq,
Should I look at progressed charts to see if anything would develop in this relationship?

Transits to the Progressed Charts will definitely give clues.

Sorry this may seem very stupid a Qs, but I have been trying to get a progressed chart from astro. It shows up ok with the natal, when I use the time given to recreate a basic chart for comparing transits the Asc seems to be all wrong. What am I doing wrong? Could someone help me please?
Iq, how relevant are the transits to progressed chart?
Thanks everybody for your inputs

Hi Lara,
What is your take on the synastry chart? As Origami pointed out there are good and difficult aspects in the synastry charts. Do you think the bad aspects outweigh the good?
I love happy endings to love stories. So am hoping this one will end with them walking off hand in hand, into the sunset.

Hey Leapinglemur,
I guess being in the same sign itself is bad. Maybe a close conjunction is not needed. That is what I gather from Diana's observations.

Hi IQ,
Sorry to be a bother.I would really appreciate your insight on the synastry, the strengths and weaknesses of the two charts together.
Would you please help me?
Thanks a lot.
