I've started to notice the Aqua "clear-eyes." The look is akin to someone who just came off a tanning bed with the skin around the eyes lighter than the rest of the face.

With that said, I won't play the
"please only say nice things about my sign, game." I am wary of Aquarius energy. Whenever I see it in a chart, I go on guard. A person can get burned only so many times before they realize that fire is hot...regardless of the miracles it works in the kitchen.

I thought Halloween (Dress up to scare the ghosts away) was of Spanish origins. Hmmm..

Oops, my apologies. I edited out my post, because I got a little political (just mentioning another broad generalization that's bugged me in the past), and didn't want things to get hairy. I've never heard that about the Spanish history, and scaring away the ghosts; only the Day of the Dead/El Día de los Muertos celebration in Mexico (which, according to this, as something the Spaniards tried to eradicate, when they arrived).

in england nov 5 is guy fawkes. bonfires, fireworks and street parties abound. halloween is recognized but trick-or-treating was nonexistent in our neighbourhood till i started a little group with my daughter. nobody was prepared to treat so they pulled a lot of silly prank tricks and had a great time doing it!!
and how's that for off-topic!?

I didn't think about going off-topic, but I also don't think that PeaceAngel would mind. I'm going to throw away all personal responsibility, and blame it on my scattered Gemini Moon.

I mostly grew up in England, and trick-or-treating was frowned upon then, as well. A friend of mine just posted on Facebook that she enjoyed her first trick-or-treating in 35 years. I also loved the fireworks on November 5th, but didn't like the throwing of the guy on the bonfire.

This thing about astrology and generalisations has been brought up before, but I think some people don't realize they are doing it. It doesnt seem that too many posters are trying to be purposely annoying. After some time, you know which threads to open and which ones not to bother with.

It used to be the threads picking on Moon in Gemini, that bugged me the most. I thought it was going a bit far when there was a thread to list your three top favourite moon signs, and a few people decided to go from the best to the worst (in their opinions) - Gemini was at the bottom of the list almost every time. it wasn't as though it made me cry, it just seemed unnecessary. It's one of the most bashed moons around here, and it gets old, so I stopped reading them (for the most part). The same goes for Venus in Gemini, Aries Sun, etc... both of which I have. Myself and others have spoken of our own experiences - the way we live - only to have our posts be discounted. I may as well just throw my chart out here and have you all tell me who I am.

Lucia - I do see your point, though. I like Sagittarius energy, quite a bit, and I tend to recognize it in my mother, my father (his ascendant), and others (Jane and GypseeWind remind me of my mother, through their posts here. If you check out your generalizations thread, I noted how my mother sounds like lioneyes' mum, and GypseeWind).

Lucia,

"Based on the premises of most Western astrological practices, the dynamic should be the same regardless of its frequency. If your Venus squares the Pluto of everyone in your class, then you have that dynamic in each of those relationships"

Yes, but especially if we look at relationship-astrology, we want to find the connections that are UNIQUE for this union. Not those that are present with everyone born within 2 years.

What makes the chemistry or the other one so unique, that we pick HIM, love HIM, want to have a relationship with HIM, instead of his friend at school?

Having said that, of course we are also affected by Pluto of a whole generation.

Interestingly, shouldn`t the dynamic for the Pluto-person feel more unique about the other person than the other way round, as Venus moves a lot more quickly than Pluto?

BM,

I very much agree with your post.

And it is Samhain. At least I have always "celebrated" it as Samhain.

Actually, I think that many things in astrology are consistent, it's just everything is linked with each other that everything ends up affecting each other.

For example, Venus square Pluto - this aspect's energy will always be symbolically consistent (Venus' energy being in conflict with Pluto's energy), it's just it depends on the rest of the details (like how relevant Pluto is in the Pluto person's chart, etc.) to see how relevant this aspects becomes or how it would really manifest in the synastry.
So that if A has her Venus square B and B's generation's Pluto, then some might like her or even get obsessed with her, while others might feel uncomfortable with her, yet Venus square Pluto would always mean that her Venus' energy/manifestation is in conflict with B and his generation's Pluto ideals, no matter how each react about it.

I really dislike the stereotype that Capricorns are materialistic, money and work driven, serious, frigid, and cold. Maybe it's my Sag moon & mercury, and my watery asc, venus, and mars placements that make me feel like this Capricorn generalization doesn't fit me.

I do exhibit characteristics of a 'typical Capricorn' but not to the extreme most astrologers make us out to be.

I do, however, have a sister whose ASC, Sun, and Mercury are all in Capricorn and she's the stereotypical bossy, domineering, ambitious, materialistic Cappy..thank the gods she has Sag moon to lighten her up

I never got Capricorn in general. The two closest Caps to me are very very impractical and dreamy, almost Piscean, but neither have Pisces in their charts. Neptune is in Capricorn for my generation, but Neptune isn't close enough to their Suns to count as a conjunction (although one has Neptune in his first house).

Thank you, and can I say how much I enjoyed your explantion of aspects and lunar cycles. It reminded me how I needed to look outside the window every now and then.

BM,

I am glad that you could draw something positively out of this. It is one of the things that made most sense to me, and yes, reminded me, too, to not forget t hat there is a real, physical sky out there, and not only numbers and lines on a piece of paper, or a computer screen.

well speaking of generalising, i have never had one single person think i was a leo on first meet. or even well into acquaintanceship if they hadn't asked earlier, while my aries daughter is incredibly leonine...so much as i identify with my sun, it is not as obvious as other placements in my chart.

solar astrology is a great place to start, and it is the foundation on which the rest stands.

but by definition one has to generalize to use astrology at all. it is all about archetypes and combinations of relationships. a trine is a trine and very different from a square...

Same here. I've never had anyone guess my Sun sign either. Most people guess Libra, which is my opposite and Descendant sign. I identify a lot with my Moon. I've read before that in some astro interpretations, women identify more with their Moon signs, and men with their signs.

I guess part of the thing about astro interpretations is there's so many branches of beliefs.

Interesting, I relate much more to my Sun. My Sun feels like "me", my Moon like an unfortunate psychological problem I wish I could overcome.

i love em both! and identify with both. but most people think i'm aquarian, my asc. and i do identify with that too...but especially since i wear my hair shorter lately, very few guess leo looking at me. and i have a stellium in leo including my sun...!

i would say that most of the sun sign generalizations do ring of truth. but we are all different mixes of the energies in our charts.
