So then, where does stereotyping come from? And is there any truth to them? quote: ...Aquarians treat their friends like family and can be very sweet...
Perhaps I'm not qualified to comment on Aquas, but...I know an Aqua-Libra with Venus in Pisces, she loves her husband with TLC, as a wife I'd rate her A++, but outside of that relationship...fierce in an un-fun way. One of my co-workers is an Aqua-Virgo, his BFF is a Virgo-Scorpio. Outside of that relationship... IP: Logged |

Nine, I'm curious as to where Aquarius falls in your chart, it could explain why you have problems with them.IP: Logged |

I don't think I've met any Aquarian influenced that were typically cold. The secretary I work with has a pretty sound relationship with her husband, there's not much that's detached about it. Though I guess 'detached' is really up to personal interpretation. IP: Logged |

There would be no astrology without them. In a lot of cases I really think you have to check with multiple sources in order to get a good feel for the intricacies of each sign...and it may not be in the context of a Sun sign description. For instance, I don't know that I've ever seen a Sun sign description of Gemini that reveals the amount of subtlety they're prone to. And do you contemplate that every Earth sign ruler also rules (or has ruled) an Air sign? What is the significance of that? There's just so many ways to look at, and incorporate astrology. So my answer is, yes, there is some truth to them, but probably not every little bit of truth. IP: Logged |

My son has 5 planets in Aquarius and he's incredibly emotional. I can see the detachment in him mentally, where he can step back and process something from a very detached perspective, but emotionally, he's a real softy, cries at the smallest slight, especially if he perceives some kind of unjust againt people. When I was learning the basics of astrology when I was in my teens, that Aquarians are great humanitarians is one of the first things I learnt. It does irk me when I read that Aquarius is uncaring and cold. Hardly. IP: Logged |

Libran's can't make a decision. That really irks me.I always know the right decision to make regarding my life choices, however.... put me in front of a McDonald's menu board & watch me agonize over what to eat for 20 damn minutes. In the end I get fed up with myself & order the same thing I had last time. IP: Logged |

I don't like a lot of what is said about Aries and Scorpios (being an Aries with a Scorpio boyfriend). Sure, there are traits that can be enhanced by sun signs but when someone says something in a thread like "She's an opinionated ***** ? Must be an Aries!" it's sort of annoying.People seem to just really enjoy focusing on the negative. IP: Logged |

For some reason I've spent a lot of time recently thinking about the Air sign detachment. I think all the Air signs are detached; not just Aquarians. I think they hate the detachment. I get the sense that they feel detached, and that drives them to try really hard to connect with people, and that's how they end up ultimately being so charming.IP: Logged |

I know several very un-lazy Tauruses, although I do think each of the fixed signs is lazy in our own ways.(One of my Scorpio friends honestly picks his girlfriends based on the neighborhood they live in and how conveniently-located it is. I (Leo) am lazy about chores. My hardest-working Taurus friend gets lazy about talking--she's always wanting to sit around quietly--drives her fire friends nuts! Not that these are representative of all fixed folk.) IP: Logged |

That Libras are superficial and we can't make up are minds about what we want..that view of us has always made me mad, because different Libras do have different qualities to them depending on other things in chart and in upbringing. For instance I am a Libra with alot of Cancer influence, home is important to me.IP: Logged |

Aquarius falls in my natal 6th house & solar 9th house. Born on the 9th, Mars is one of my ruling planets, Mercury is the other. I have Mars opposed Uranus. I believe this is the cause of all the drama. IP: Logged |

Lucia23, I'm not lazy either by all means, but I find it a chore to talk sometimes...I would be working really hard and not find the need the say anything...It's kind of an issue at work because I'm supposed to be chit chatty with the customers. But normally I like to be quiet and relax which makes me come off as serious and lacking enthusiasm. Another stereotype, that Taureans are mentally and physically Slow...Untrue! IP: Logged |

Interesting. quote: ...So my answer is, yes, there is some truth to them, but probably not every little bit of truth.
I wonder if the stereotypical behavior comes out when Sun Signs are out of their element, ie in a relationship/situation that's past it's expiration date. IP: Logged |

Interesting idea! I've noticed that people (by people, I mean me, LOL) tend to act like bad stereotypes/parodies of our Ascendents in new situations or challenging situations that might make us shy and nervous. IP: Logged |

Let's see... The ones that jump to mind are: Taurus: That they are stubborn. I've known some surprisingly easy-going Tauruses. Virgo: That we dislike everything and everyone because we have discriminating tastes. Actually, I DO have certain tastes in movies, books, people, etc. and I think that you would agree that everyone else does too. I am fully aware that it is MY OPINION. The rest of the signs are allowed to have their opinions, why can't I have mine without being jumped all over as picky or discriminating? And actually, on that note, I am not judgmental either. Unfortunately, I have known Virgos who are and I can understand why we get that rap, but I can assure you that not all of us want to hate and/or exclude the rest of the world. Scorpio: That they want to control and manipulate everyone else. Actually, it's been my experience that they have incredibly good SELF-CONTROL. They know when to hold themselves back from a situation. Sagittarius: That they are total commitment-phobes (especially the men). I've had too many Sadge friends who were completely loyal to their partners and *gasp* even got MARRIED! Aquarius: That they are unfeeling. All of my Aqua friends are actually really very sensitive and prone to overanalyzing statements that others have made about them. IP: Logged |

I don't particularly think so. I don't know how many people gain an interest in astrology via their Sun sign, but that's how it happened for me. I read something about Capricorns, and I related to most of it. If we were only stereotypically our Sun signs in awkward situations, I don't know that I'd recognize myself in it so easily. That all Virgos are these super neat, super critical, tidy, perfectionist, detail-oriented, anal, stick in the mud, uptight, punctual people who suck in bed LOL. I think MVM and I share our disgust for these types of Virgo stereotypes--they are wrong, wrong, WRONG!Every Virgo has a discriminating eye about something, but they aren't all Martha Stewart clones. One Virgo could be little Suzy homemaker that believes there's a place for everything and everything in it's place and another could be a tattoo artist with sleeves from head to toe that will make sure the holes in your ear are spaced perfectly, but other than that, they could be different as night and day. I, for one, am hardly ever on time, have to force myself to clean, and love to let my hair down. Yet despite the piles of clothes on my bedroom floor and my skanky bathroom counter with makeup all over the place...both my bookshelves and spice cabinets have a system. You might not understand the system, but there is a system! I am a Virgo through and through. We're also deeply passionate people. Just picky about who we get passionate with. IP: Logged |

It bugs me to read that all cancers like to cry, and their dream is to be a housewive and raise 1000 babies (well something like that anyway.). I don't like to cry and I certainly don't like kids. I've also been lucky enough to travel a lot and was away from home years without seeing most my family and guess what? I didn't miss them or cry over not seeing them (by the way I have a great relationship with my family). I still manage to travel and I'm not planning to stop doing that anytime soon.
