Weekly Weather November 9, 2009

Apologies for the last posting. Been one of those months.

For those of you who had trouble finding last week's column with the Full Moon column posted on Monday, click on SUNDAY for the WEEKLY WEATHER OR the Drop down boxes for WEEKLY WEATHER or Scroll down to click on the link that takes you to the week you want.

We are going to have the same situation NEXT week too as the NEW MOON column will be posted on Monday.

Both columns are always up, and up forever, so make sure to dig around a bit to find them. Last week's was one of my better ones so I hope you found it! Neptune's station hid it!

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein

What a stressful yet transformative and powerful week we have ahead of us! Saturn builds, builds, builds, and builds in tension all week to have his first of three closing squares with Pluto, both smidges off of the world axis next weekend. Expect your world to rock and roll!

Sun and Mercury are finding out all sorts of secrets this week as they square the Gang of Three and trine Uranus. On some level, Sun and Mercury will be “Shocked! Shocked!” while on another level, “I knew it! I knew it!”

Make sure to listen to that little voice inside of you that whispers in your ear. The wise voice. Not the critical voice. Your soul’s voice. It’ll be having LOTS to say this week.

Mercury also shifts into Sagittarius so he gets rather chatty and communicative once that happens on Sunday. Until then, he builds a bit of a head of steam about all the matters, secrets and stuff he is finding out.

Uranus’ sextile to the North Node of Destiny says it is all to move you forward towards your future. So listen and pay attention to what you find out. Take it in. Process it. Don’t act on it. Just process and think about it.

Saturn and Pluto are in the process of reconstructing your psychological life via (possibly) physical changes and definitely through emotional integration of your story, life, and information changes. This is the first pass, their first square to each other, so the story won’t necessarily integrate right now. No worries. You have until late August to figure out what you want to do about the information you receive this week.

As for what the story is about ~ well Pluto is profound transformation through triangles, sex, death, birth and three parts. Saturn is quite literally the structure of your life, your own personal authority, your authorities (boss, father, mother, or government) and what you amount to. Two things will impact upon you and shift your life, starting now. And it will run until next August ~ at least ~ if not longer. The Pluto part can comprised of two people, a person and a thing, or two things. Watch for the triangle components and the structure energy that shifts this week. Might even be seismic in nature. Once Pluto and Saturn meet, on some level, you can never go back to what was before. You are permanently altered and forever changed.

Think back to Fall 1982, 1994 and 2001 to see how the story taking place in your life now ties back to those times and relates to the currently contemplated changes proposed for the future structure of your life.

In my case, major changes combined with profound emotions to create the most important and fundamental changes in various structures in my life. In both 1982 and 1994, I lost major and structural people in my life which created room for NEW structures and people to come in, take root and grow. In 1982, Saturn and Pluto were both in late Libra. They were at the conjunction, or beginning of the current cycle. In 1994, Saturn in was Aquarius with Pluto in Scorpio, making an opening square of facing choices combined with a crisis of change. I LEFT structures in 2001, to pursue building a NEW structure for myself, during the opposition when Saturn was in Gemini and Pluto was in Sagittarius. Separating aspects often encourage that kind of leaving change.

Now, I am consciously creating a new set of structures as the Saturn/ Pluto square approaches and starts to change my life again. This time Saturn is in Libra square to Pluto in Capricorn between 1:42 and 4:20. Their current cycle finishes when they catch up to each other in January of 2020 at 22:46 Capricorn.

Saturn and Pluto bring profound shifts as they touch planets in our natal charts. When they dance with each other, the shifts are even more profound. Mark your calendar for the weeks of January 31, 2010 and August 21, 2010 to see what part two and three of this cycle brings. Part one starts this week ~ you‘ll be working with this story for the bulk of the year ahead and quite possibly into and through the rest of your life.

A few weeks ago, I used the imagery of A Boy named Sue, Johnny Cash’s famous song about a Father and Son relationship as a metaphor for the son's, or Sue’s, struggle for understanding. Saturn and Pluto want us to achieve the potential for psychological wholeness inherent in each of us. We all have to come to psychological wholeness and integration around our own authority. We get to do it now!

Let’s review the archetypal story Saturn / Pluto story, as told by Johnny Cash, in the lyrics of his song, “A Boy Named Sue.”

Well my daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue."

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!
Now you’re gonna die!!"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son-of-a-***** that named you "Sue.'"

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!

Saturn is originally our external authority. He’s the rules guy. He‘s in charge of the struggles that we must each make to achieve wholeness and become who we are. Jung calls it individuating. We call it “Growing Up” Chicks have to peck their way out of the egg. Butterflies have to wriggle and work their way out of the cocoon. Life has its struggles and stresses. We don’t just leap up and shout “TA-DA!” with out a bit of a plan and a whole heck of a lot of practice. We have to work and build up the skills, talents and competencies in our lives. We have to work for and with our Saturn.

Look at Dad’s words again:

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

Can you imagine your Saturn saying that to you? Think of the struggles you’ve had with your Saturn over the course of your life. The fears you’ve faced and conquered. The changes that Saturn brought to you to help you get to where you are now in your life. And notice the drive, motivation and focus that your Saturn creates each and every day in your being as he whispers in your ear to face your fear.

And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,

Your job in the week ahead is to notice the information that comes to you, bidden or unbidden. Think back to 1982, 1994, and 2001. Look at the triangle before you that is requesting you change, evolve and individuate! Forward. Not easy but you are totally, completely, and perfectly right where you are supposed to be. No fear. Just give yourself permission to move toward what your dream is. Now is the time!

Monday, Moon in Leo is passionate and full of fun. Emotions argue with the dream today. Last week, when you talked to your soul as Neptune stationed (or dreamed or cried or slept a lot or were simply exhausted or struggled with disillusionment), you were focusing on the future vision of what could or would be. Today, emotions pop a bit as the Moon opposes the Gang of Three. Sure, it all looks good on paper but how the heck are you going to get it done? Step by tiny step. All things begin with the idea, the dream, the focus on moving forward towards what you want in your life. So if the dream isn’t as polished as you’d hoped it might be, that is okay. You get to shine it up, take off the tarnish and give it a good serious rubbing to make it gleam again. Today you need to polish your internal silver! Venus has a sextile to Pluto offering her considered advice ~ silver is silver. It IS valuable! It IS WORTH some thing. While you might not like the current format, it is worth polishing your dream a bit. Sun on the North Node says to look at your Dreams upon awakening. There is a clue in them ~ pay particular attention to the dark fellow or the energy around giving your ego what it wants. You have to support that dream of yours.

Tuesday has a Virgo Moon with lovely closing aspects. Great day to get papers and such out into the world. Or to appeal previous rulings or decisions. Expect news or paperwork to arrive carrying information or news. Sun’s square to Jupiter is expansive and full of good news, even if you aren’t 100% sure what to do with it. Mercury’s Scorpionic square to Chiron advises you to look back at your life and see what you see. See how the wounds of your past have brought you to the place you are now. See how the healing you’ve done in your life about those same wounds is part of the process and value of your life. As Dad said to Sue,

The gravel in your guts and the spit in your eye is noticed today. Honor it. Partner with it. Appreciate it. Mercury’s union with Neptune encourages you to speak to the higher vision of what can be. Do your Saturn today. Do your Pluto too. Evolve to the next vision of what you can be. Evolve to the vision of what you WANT to be. Listen to your soul’s whisper.

Wednesday’s dream upon awakening is solid and strong. Mercury’s trine to Uranus asks you to take the approach that might not be the “normal” one or the “usual” one. But as I opened the column with Einstein’s words: We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Come up with a new way to solve the problem! You can do it! Pluto and Saturn are sitting right there, ready, willing and able to help. Mercury’s cleverness combines with the Node to bring you words when you least expect them. Or information when you least expect it. Mercury’s square to Neptune encourages you to push the dream a bit. Speak to the dream’s soul. Speak to the higher vision or version of what can and should be. Ask that dream to emerge. You can also find out difficult information today. Difficult information that makes you take a step back. Take the step back and think about what you want to do here. What is your vision for your future? Moon in Virgo has great aspects for speaking to the higher vision, pushing papers and hopes out into the world and going for what you’ve worked so hard for.

Thursday Morning has a void moon, and then Moon moves into Libra for the next two days at 12:22 pm EST. Libra Moon is about partnership. Venus in Scorpio wants you to partner with your higher vision. Great day for partnerships around money or negotiating for what your vision and dream are. Venus is quite clear what she wants and how she wants to proceed. Venus is in charge of Saturn and Pluto these days. They all answer to her powers of fascination, seduction, desire and loves. What do you love? How can you have more of it? Moon starts a new cycle with Saturn today to push you forward. Her square to Pluto brings up tough choices. Ask for time to consider what you want to do. Listen to your soul’s whisper in your ear. Is this YOUR dream? Or is it a dream you were told you were supposed to have? Great closing aspects for pushing for YOUR dream!

Friday Saturn’s square to Pluto continues to build energy. Moon aspects Mars and Jupiter encouraging them forward. Chiron joins with Pallas so pay attention to your strategy upon awakening. Don’t operate or make choices based on your negative wound. Give your spirit space to wonder how to do it. Ask yourself “Hmmm, I wonder how I could have this? How can I move towards it? The emotions are strong and passionate today and the rest of the weekend. Watch for out of control anger eruptions. Venus is sesquiquadrates to Juno so partnerships and relationships are not 100% what they seem. Pay attention. Watch to see what you see. Mercury and the Sun have both been trying to show you things. See what you see. Yes the wound is big. But the healing of the wound is even bigger. Go for the healing. Head your soul toward the bigger picture of what you deeply want in your life.

Saturn’s day find you waking from a very busy and quite overwhelming night of dreams. We find Libra Moon void all day while the rest of the planets are busy, active and quite preoccupied. Partner with the Dream you have for your future. This is a terrific day to bustle about and take care of all sorts of mundane activities that give you time to think about it what you want. Closet cleaning. Silver polishing. Plan, prep, day dream or vision think. The get things organized fairy visits in the evening as Moon goes into Scorpio and Sun Trines Uranus. AH HA! A break through! A break out! A NOW I GET IT! Moment arrives. The void moon today allows the energy of the Scorpio planets to do their best work.

Sunday we find Saturn squaring Pluto in the dark of the Scorpio Moon. How are you a boy named Sue? How are you the father that abandons his child yet prepares him, through the abandonment, for the life he has to face? Can you see how your life story combines, conspires and is in cahoots with helping you get to where you are now? This can be either an incredibly difficult or extremely terrific day. Or it can swing from one side to the other, rather willy nilly. Again, it was a rocking night of dreams so upon awakening note them. Watch for Saturn (the dark guy, the somber person, the authority ) and Pluto (the triangle, the impetus to change, the sense of transformation). Note how they reflect the story going on in your life. Isn’t astrology amazing? Sun’s square to Neptune wants you to revision that dream of yours. Do the psychological integration that is needed so you can move forward to your best life. Mercury enters Sagittarius so make sure to write it down, journal it, tell you best friend or shout what you figured out from the roof top! Uranus’ sextile to the Nodes gives us a boost into the new life. JUMP! It is going to be fine. GO FOR IT! You are going to try and you are going to win. Saturn and Pluto have your back.

Jill Asks: What does it mean when you say I'm having a Venus return, or a Saturn return etc. What does that actually mean that happens for that individual?

Anne Answers: Great question Jill. Every planet has returns. It means when the planet returns to the place it was when you were born or in the case of a country or city or business, where the planet was when the entity was "born" by an official act.

Every month you have a lunar return when the Moon returns to the sign and degree it was when you were born. You have 13 of them in a year ~ which describes the emotions and lunar functions for the year. It is also a great way to see what month someone will become pregnant.

Every year we have a solar return. It is where the phrase many happy returns comes from (translate that to may you have a long life that is happy).

Venus returns talk about love, money or desires. I have my Venus return this week and it looks GOOD! Mercury is siblings, communications, cars etc. Mars has a two year Mars return while Jupiter has a 12 year Jupiter return so those are very manageable ones to watch and track.

We look at each of the planets to see when they return to the place they were when you were born. Obviously, we as humans don't live to see some returns ~ Neptune at 168 years and Pluto at 248 years. But we, hopefully, WILL be around to see and experience the USA's Pluto return when Pluto gets to 27 Capricorn 32 in 2022.

When Saturn gets to 1 Libra 03 and 14 Libra 48, we will experience the USA having Saturn on our midheaven as well as our 9th Saturn return respectively.

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed the health care bill with a public option, as Saturn arrived at our midheaven degree of 1 Libra 03. Saturn will go over that point two more times as he retrogrades back into Virgo in the Spring.

Astrologers can cast a chart for the moment of the return and tell a great deal about the planetary period ahead.

Mundane: The House of Representatives passed their part of the Health Care reform bill as Saturn reached the top of the natal chart for the USA, July 4, 1776, 5:10 pm, Philadelphia, PA. Saturn will go back and forth over the Apex three times. Of course, Saturn is square to Pluto so it won’t be easy to continue the rest of the journey without struggle and a slap down or two with Pluto. Pluto is square to Saturn from the Second House of what is of value to us.

Ask yourself if you would like Medicare at age 10, 20, 30 or 40 instead of at age 65?

You could still buy supplemental insurance, but the bulk and balance of your health care costs are covered. Seems like a bit of a no-brainer to me.

But then, I believe the collective should be offered public education, public clean water, public transportation, public good roads, public judicial system that puts crooks in jail, public police to call in an emergency, public firemen to call when my apartment is on fire, public sanitation people to pick up my garbage, public libraries to borrow a book, public mail delivered to my mail box and all the other public agencies that protect me from bad builders, evil doers, terrorists, crooked people, unscrupulous bankers and the Bernie Maddoffs of the world.

I am perfectly willing to pay taxes for those things. My tax dollars at work!

And, when things get taken to the private sector, I've noticed the price seems to go WAY UP! My electric bill. My cable bill. My phone bill. All have taken HUGE leaps in price since they were “privatized” and taken out of the protection of government oversight.

Why is one of our MOST important rights ~ health ~ and the resultant happiness good health brings us resting in the hands of people who profit off of our collective illnesses? Why can they deny us coverage? Charge us exorbitant rates? Put a dollar amount cap on life time spending? Say we have a pre-existing condition that means we can’t get insurance? Prohibit us from going to the Doctor of our choice? Deny us treatment modalities that may work?

Would you agree to that with your right to drive your car? You’ve driven too much so some company tells you that you can’t drive any more?

Your house had a fire in the kitchen so the fire department let you know that they aren’t going to send the fire trucks if you have another fire?

You’ve been robbed so the police will no longer protect you or respond when you dial 9-11?

You can’t have your garbage picked up because that sanitation man is not on your plan?

You can’t get your mail because you received a package from UPS the other day.

Why do we permit this insanity with our health care?

So, again, the question, Would you like to be on Medicare now? Or would you rather wait until you are 65?
