I'm going with straight sun signs here because I'm tired, but feel free to add what you chose. How do you notice people give and accept gifts? How do you? What can you generalize about this? Do you have any funny stories to share about holiday gifts?

*The worst, and I mean worst, horrible person I had to buy for was my deceased Step Mother in law, a lovely Libra woman whom everyone adored. She was just terrible about receiving and she knew it!!!
No matter what you gave her, she would just pop out with something negative, it was so weird!!! I had a throw especially made for her, with all the grandchildrens names and and angel on it. I mean, it was costly! She looked it over and said, "well, it would of been nicer in cranberry than hunter green."

One Christmas day, she threw my poor father in law out of the house because ONE, just one of her gifts was a kitchen gadget, and she said that was insulting. She said gifts should be something indulgent that you would not buy for yourself.
*And it had to be name brand or she wouldn't wear it.

My leo daughter is a gem, anything frilly, pink, girly and glittery and she's a happy camper.

My Pisces daughter likes anything she can color or color with, paint, etc. She also loves nostalgia gifts; scrapbooks, pic frames, etc.

Their Cappy dad wants electronics and electronics only.

These are a few, I'll give you guys a turn.

*as for us sag's, we love books, especially big color table art books or books about ancient civilizations and such. Philosophy and poetry books, how to books. UMMM, We like the gift of experience to, like a certificate to go get something done or to do something. Lessons, classes, things of that nature. I like to get trinkets of the religious sort, I have a good size collection of Buddhas, and crosses. But I wouldn't say every sag would like that.

Lol, Gypsee, i have just bought a BOOK the size of a large coffee table as a gift. It's called The Universe and has the most amazing double page photos of Solar System, planets and Galaxies in explosions of colours. Unfortunately it was the last book in the shop, or i would've bought one for myself as well! I adore books, the best gift for me, but i haven't anything in Sag apart from NN

No, for a young Cap. Hope it'll be appreciated. My Cancer daughter is the best presents buyer ever, she just knows intuitively what to get for totally different people. Are you giving anything to your moody SOB?

At the moment I was thinking a hexx would be in order, but, naaaah. I am like Belgz too in a way, and I think handmade gifts are a big yay in my book. So considering the distance factor, and my finances, I'm in the process of writing a poem for/to/about him. If I spend a lil less time on the net, I should have it done by xmas.

HI DEPPY, my lil sweets. I TOO can be sent into ecstacy with office supplies. Yeah, sweaters are ok, not my style, but sometimes necessary, however, give me a lovely pen which glides instead of merely writes, a brand new journal, some extra notebooks for jotting down things not important enough to grace the pages of my sacred journals, and I am yours.

You are right it is a writer thing. Doncha love the smell of paper, and the promise of the brand new unmarred journal... ahhh, let's meet at Office Depot and have a holly jolly, what do you say?

MissKIss;
You are a Virgo/Sun yes? Like my Mom. Funny how this works, she gives The Best Gift Ever, but is the hardest to buy for. The only thing I've ever given her that she has actually kept, is jewelry, no costume or fakes, it's gotta be the real deal. That she likes. (leo rising) Other than that the clothes are not the quality in which she would prefer, she despises sentimental type gifts. Pics are ok, but no gushy stuff.
Practical gifts dont work either.
No certificates for manicures, tanning or such. She has no interest. Or restaurant gift cards, I can never choose the one she likes. She loves to read, but reads so much and such different subject matter from time to time, I've a hard time keeping up with her, so I suppose a book store certficate would be in order.

*deppy, I love getting movies and cds too. This may also be a "writer" thing because those gifts truly inspire creativity.

But then I'll feel guilty and wait for you outside, we can go get an ice cream cone. My treat.

I am a Pisces Sun, Scorpio Asc and I totally love gifts that show emotion. I could love a drawing on a napkin, which I would know was hoenst and true more than a thousand dollars gift, that I would know it meant nothing to the person who gave it to me.
The true intentions and feeling matter. It's all that simple

For exampe, when i graduaed high school, I was given a watch, which I didn;t like at all. However it was a gift from my beloved relatives, so not only I wore it from the very first minute, but at the end I didn'w want to take it off my wrist

I got my aquarius guy a book (on a topic he likes), an anime dvd (he loves anime) and a cd that he wanted. the relationship is pretty new so i didn't want to get crazy lol but i paid attention to things he likes (a lot of which i like as well) and got him things that he would actually like, use and that showed that i pay attention to his interests and things that make him happy.

I am an aquarius as well and i like anything that is sentimental - like a picture of a great night with my friends in a frame or a book on a subject i enjoy. my best friend gave me an ipod for my birthday last year (can't live without my music) and that was one of the most thoughtful presents because i love music - anything that comes from the heart and is thoughtful- no matter how big or small - is what matters most (i also have venus and mars in pisces).

Also, hands on stuff is fun - like build your own planetarium or make your own candles kit but i do prefer the sentimental stuff.

my aries father likes technology and track suits(lol) and my virgo mother likes anything pretty and girly (a scarf or a pretty pottery), suprisingly nothing practical but more aesthetically pleasing.

since I've just moved away and am cutting out of my own income, which, as I as of yet am not employed, equals savings, I'm only giving a few people presents. Only people I can give anything that will be appreciated, while in the past it's been junk to everyone.

I got my mother, a 30degree capricorn, with a pisces ascendant and a sagittarius moon a book by my favourite author, that she's read many titles from aswell, second hand from me. This one is Hogfather. The author is Terry Pratchett. Hogfather sets christmas, so it's suiting.

I got my father, a pisces, with an aries ascendant, and a virgo moon another book, this time "The Gum Thief" by Douglas Coupland. I was strolling through an indigo store as I often do, and was thinking how i disregard a large amount of books, since I'm obsessed with a small few authors, so I let myself get grabbed by a cover, checked it out, and was surprised to find I thouhgt it would be good. So I bought it, and later decided I'd give it to my dad as a christmas present. I think it would probably be a good read for my dad's exgirlfriend aswell, and was torn between who to give it to, but upon realizing that i wasnt going to be able to afford presents for everyone, I figured my father was of more prior worth. He'll probably lend it to her eventually anyway.

I got my sister, an aries, with a sagittarius rising, and a moon I don't remember yet another book. But this time it's Dragon Magic, an expansion for the Dungeons and Dragons pen and paper game she's been engrossed in since, like, 2005 or something.

For one of my best friends (I've got two, this Leo and an Aquarius ^.^), a as just aforementioned Leo, with a 30degree Gemini ascendant, and a Taurus moon a Yugioh structure deck. He plays it with friends every little whie, as it was his adolescent uhh like thing, obsession I guess. Anyway he's devized a deck out of cards he's had from other sources to mimic this deck I've bought him, and it's better than any other deck he has, but he refuses to play it stubbornly, and says he wants to wait until he has the structure deck. So I got it.

while buying both the DnD book and the yugioh deck, I thought I'd buy a magic deck and give it to either a sagittarius friend or an aries friend (these two, the leo, and my sister, are the DnD group. fiery, eh?). I bought it and opened it just to see what it was like because I was curious, as it was really old, and I've usually played with more modern cards. as it turned out it really sucked when tossed up against more modern cards, and I told the sagittarius about it, having in my mind to maybe make a custom deck out of cards I've accummulated and give it to him instead if he'd prefer, but he said he'd rather not recieve anything at all, because he plays only proxies now, as his playing group has established it's only fair to have equel access among players. I gave it to the Aries :P

Upon enquiring to my sister about what books she's read by Terry Pratchett (our mutually favourite author), and having recieved the response "I want to know what not to get you" when she asked why I wanted to know, she was surprised I was getting her anything at all. She felt obligated to get me something in return, and concluded it would be a set of fancy dice. I have yet to be surprised by the fanciness. She's currently visiting a friend in Maine, while we live in Ontario, so it's not like she's poor and I'm squeezing anything out of her. I don't really need dice, but it would be cool to have more.

Wow, CA, I never noticed your placements before, wow! Wanna get married?? J/K I'm about 100 years too old for you, that an I gotta take Deppy to the office depot and buy him ice cream.

I'm glad most of you Pisces peeps agreed on the personal is best theory. That is what I ended up giving the "moody SOB" (Lord, now he's been christened, no going back to just Pisces dude) Anyway, I wrote it this afternoon, the poem that is. And it flew out quite smoothly, mostly because I'de been storing up the words and images in my head for weeks anyway.
So we exchanged the little stickers and cards and dumb stuff on myspace. And, I said, wait, I have something else...

So, I sent the poem. And there was like ENDLESS silence. I would suppose he was collecting himself. Finally he came around and wanted to know if I wrote it, um, duh! Then he wanted to know if it was about him, double duh! But I'm pretty sure he liked it very much.

Anyway, go to bed or Santa won't come! You know you can't wait to open up your Chia pets and new socks!! Merry Christmas.
