Mercury is stationary direct in 5'33 Capricorn, and so it conjuncts Pluto in 3'48 Capricorn.
This indicate a time of getting below the surface,investigating,and revealing secrets as well as transformation,elimination,letting go of old stuff to make way for the new.

Mercury stationary direct on the day of the solar eclipse is very significant by itself.

The Solar Eclipse-Venus conjunction is square the Geocentric South Chiron Node in 26'20 Aries.
