I thought the (negative) aspects of my sign Cancer were a wee bit exaggerated....actually, I still kinda do. I'm very independent...none of this smothering business, I don't wear my emotions on my sleeves, I spend money like water, I don't care for motherhood or creating the perfect family, my anger is very direct (mars in aries), and I don't roll with large clicks outside of work (the clannish thing). I knew alot of other cancers who were pretty much the same way--->> average everyday people who don't show the extremes of this sign, again, explaining why I totally scoff at every single interpretation of this sign (Everyone else's sign just seems a little less crazy and a little more believable). But beginning last October, I began working some shifts in the Nursery with someone who's is a first decan Cancer. OMG, I have never soooo smothered by someone's very presence. She's like a hawk, watching my every move.....**** , she even watches me when I'm charting things and I REALLY HATE IT when people watch me while Im writing. Then whenever I might be close to her...she acts like I'm the one not giving her space. Its like: lady, I wasn't even thinking about you. She waits for me to make a mistake.... just to tell me I've done something wrong. There's numerous other things like the little social hierarchy her and her clique keep up in the Nursery....its like being back in highschool. I just think its the weirdest thing, because she's like the embodiment of every bad Cancerian trait that I thought (maybe still think) was exaggerated....but I didn't come here for any advice on her. I'm really just curious about anyone else's experiences in meeting their shadow. O__o IP: Logged |

Shadow as in dark side of the sun sign? Cruelty would be the trait I would put down for Gemini, the mental kind. Mind games, having fun playing people, watching them squirm. Yes, I knew a Gem person like that - Sun/ASC/Mercury/Venus. Clever, entertaining, amusing, witty, but a mutual friend described him as 'mental sadist' and I don't think she was too far out. Example, ooh, long time ago, but threw grenades into conversations, put people in uncomfortable social situations to see how what would happen, like a mental experiment. That kind of thing. hahaha Benedict..you are my personal hero!! I'm a cancer sun/mars/mercury with a libra moon and Aries asc and the way you describe yourself sounds exactly how i describe myself..Im in the 1st decan (like your irratating co-worker) on the 27th but because im in that 1st wk where the sun changes signs, my Sun & mars are actually on the cusp, in Gemini's house so I take on more those characteristics i guess as they're the ones that make me different to cancerians like your co-worker. An airy fairy libra moon and an earthy taurus venus balances out all that water, i guess.. My brother, who's 4yrs younger than me is in the 2nd decan of cancer 6 days after my birthday, he's Cancer sun&moon and when there are stressful transits happening, he takes on the shadow of his sign..he's moody, gives off a real "F**K OFF!" vibe, hides out in his room, too scary to approach, when he's sick he's the biggest lil' b*tch ever..its like i got all the boy qualities and he got all the girl ones IP: Logged |

Yes, the dark side....and it can be any placement you want. 
Yes, mental cruelty would be a very apt discription of the darkside of gemini....and I'm not just saying that because I have a venus in gemini and alot of mercury in general....haha. Although I would have to say its quite creepy when you figure out that some people do it for kicks....sorry about that sketchball!gemini.

Diablo, Thanks! I totally feel you: I have sun/mercury/juno/chiron/DC in cancer (I'm 3rd Decan but I have moon in virgo and venus in gemini that probably keeps the more emotional aspect of myself under control(though I would still consider myself moody). I also know an aries mars can make any watersign more direct than most. I honestly cannot what my co-worker's problem is....she's the reason I'm glad I only work in the Nursery once every 1-2 weeks. whew! Oooooo, yout poor brother's got sun AND moon in cancer? He must have alot to deal with inside being a double cancer. :-\ Whats odd is I can honestly remember the two times I was a real Queen B for alot of the time, and that was when saturn hit my sun and my moon. Yeah, he's so introverted that its really hard to make him come out of his double strength shell cos his armour is thicker than metal. But he's got Gemini mercury, Leo venus & mars which brings him right out when he's out partying, he loooooves to party, loves his mates, is the funniest guy that's just the coolest to hang out with the fire in his chart spices him right up so he's not a depressive double cancer who's depressive mood just sits on everything like a heavy blanket...he's just a lot more introspective and reflective and the biggest homebody i've ever seen. An absolute sweetheart. Wow, i've worked with cancers like that before and i remember just cringing on the inside thinking, "no wonder everyone thinks we're the biggest and most unbrilliant sooks/wet blankets of the zodiac"..they really do give the sign a bad, dorky name IP: Logged |

I thought the dark side was the negative qualities of the opposing sign, like aqua would be arrogance, taurus would be rage, leo would be independence, scorp would be stubborness...?I'm aqua sun and I guess my shadow, in the sense of the expression of the negative qualities of my sun, would be excentricity, rebellion, willfulness. but my mercury, afflicted, ruler of 12th, conjunct south node and in pisces is square uranus which could explain the willfulness, also my mars semisquare my moon, the ruler of my asc. Oh, is it the negative qualities of the opposite sign? My bad....in this thread I mean the negative traits of your own placement.  Honestly, I've never seen the Aqua rebelliousness as a dark thing (mars square uranus...haha).... only when it becomes peverse. O__o

Yeah, I can definitely see some of myself in your brother: it kind of depends on my mood whether I want to be introspective and in my own world (at home) on a Friday night, or if I want to go out and party. Its almost like having a split personality. hahaha And if I'm in a bad mood, I usually keep to myself...but thats so I don't infect everyone else with it. *___* And you've worked with someone like that before? yeppp ive worked with many women with many different placements and planets, comes with working as an exotic dancer lol..saw lotsa shadows in that time..Im the same, im more out of the house than he is..like, im always out and about, home is just a base where i go to refuel, sleep, hide away from the world when im in one of THOSE moods and no matter where i am, no matter how smashed i am or how far away i am..i have to make it home some how..i HATE and CANT sleep at another person's house IP: Logged |

I work on a Pediatrics/Maternity/Neo-Natal floor of a Hospital so its much of the same for me (lots of females...haha).
I don't mind staying over someone's house, but I'm always relieved (?) to go home for some reason.
