I'm curious (as always) . The general interpretation for South Node used on the boards is that it relates to past lives. I'm wondering how people who don't believe in past lives interpret this placement - or if they use it or acknowledge it at all?

well

I believe in pastlives,

but if I were to explain the south node to a person that doesn't believe in pastlives, I'd say that the south node has to do with what a person has a natural inclination, instinct for. what comes to him/her naturally

btw...all objects have nodes. they are just the the intersection of orbital paths between 2 objects. I am a regular user of the planetary nodes (both geocentric and heliocentric),and those are what I am including in new astrological system that I am developing.

another thing

uranian astrologers and their offshoot, cosmobiologists don't view the lunar nodes like astrologers do. They view the lunar nodes as meetings, connections, associations that have nothing to do with pastlives or somebody's instinctive traits.

and Vedic Astrologers refer to the South Lunar Node as Ketu, and see it as the planet of moksha, liberation, detachment, and metaphysical, psychic stuff. It also has been associated with loss. They say that it has a Mars influence too.

I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on the eclipse conjuncting the south node. My south node is at 29 degrees capricorn late in my 6th house, which I think will be affected by the eclipse. Has anybody ever experienced this before?

I just found something on solar eclipse conjunct natal south node...

Self-centered tendencies surface during the period these aspects are effective. They reveal egotistical attitudes associated with the natal south node which have created handicaps in the past and presently conflict with positive experiential potentials described by the natal north node. The self-awareness fostered by these aspects contributes to the capacity to develop selfless attributes that promote personal growth and reinforce constructive solar eclipse activity. Events that manifest under this configuration stem from selfish action which the individual perpetrates or action of which he or she is the victim. (Eclipse Interpretation Manual by Rose Lineman)

Hmm.. in my 6th house. Could have something to do with an issue I am having at work with one of my co-workers who has been behaving in an abhorrently selfish and manipulative way towards me and it's turned into an ugly tension filled situation. Perhaps with mercury going direct I may find out what is really behind it all and can resolve it in my own mind at least and move on. That would be nice.

I guess we shall see...

I agree with Glaucus` interpretation.

Another thought I had was, that it could even relate to the past in this current incarnation, maybe even reaching back to childhood.

Thanks for the replies. Just in my own behaviour I can see the what comes naturally/instinct interpretation fits with me, but I'm really interested in the Uranian Astrology perspective.

Sn is very interesting to look at.

i believe in past lifes, but if i look at my SN placement without thinking in reincarnation..

i have SN cj Neptune in my 3rdH in sag.

i feel identified with Glaucus interpretation.

i feel confortable and it is natural for me to be attatched to things i know,to my close environment, family and siblings.im very attatched to them and if stay more than 2 weeks away from it...i feel totally unhappy.

i have jup and uranus there so i guess that implies some lucky/expansion in the themes of the 3rd and explains my inclination for it.

neptune there makes me think about spirituality, idealization too.

but isnt the SN suposed to be what we are attached to?but that we must look forward for our NN?Like,we must walk the path of our NN placement and "forget" the SN?

or am i viewing it wrong?

I was first exposed to this idea with Gary Goldschneider's book The Secret Language of Destiny (which I highly recommend!) It's the only Goldschneider book that my library carries, and I'm an informal student of his brand of astrology ("Personology," divides the zodiac into 48 signs), so I kept picking this up.

Even though it made NO sense to me at first.

After about three years of looking at this book about the nodes and what he calls the "karmic paths," and thinking it was just well-written baloney, I had this little epiphany where I realized it actually DOES seem to describe me and the people I know.

That was pretty wild, and I've never stopped paying close attention to the nodes ever since.

According to his system, my south node is Taurus III (late degrees of Taurus, before the cusp) characterized by a love of freedom and spontaneity to the point of rebelliousness.

North Node is Scorpio III, characterized by calm reserve and resourcefulness.

Lesson, in a nutshell: Learn how to compose yourself, stop acting like a little kid.

****

Beyond that, I want to say, the more I think about Taurus, the more I see my inner bull. Beyond what that book said.

For example I LOVE good food And a comfy home life and thick blankets. There is a candle by my bed with an Irish blessing on it, and I think it tells the story of my Taurus south node pretty well...so now I'm going to extend this one to you all:

May you always be blessed
With walls for the wind
A roof for the rain
A warm cup of tea by the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all that your heart might desire.

Cheers!

Sorry! Maybe I should've started a new thread or tried to find a more current one to bump.

Regardes,

I'm ambivalent about reincarnation (and other theories that I can't test experientially) but I'm "sold" on the nodes.

It's not always about past lives at all. It is the comfort zone in this life. All depeneds on what sign, which house and how it is *aspected* will show how it functions...

North Node and Lessons in this life are more important than south Node.

SaggiMC,

You and I both have Scorpio north node. Just curious...would you tell us how you feel you are achieving north node goals? I see your service here, providing links and education, as very resourceful and north nodal.

Anything else to add from your personal experience?

I feel like I am heading north when my house is clean (NN in the 4th house) and I'm organized. I'm wondering if Scorpio actually is "calling me" to more than this, unbeknownst to me. Insights?

P.S. My north node conjuncts Uranus, does this mean I was born to become crazy?

It squares Mercury and Saturn. Maybe I shouldn't even think about it?

It is so funny you ask about people who don't believe in past lives and the SN cuz I just wrote about it, as I have my moon on the SN of a beautiful man.

Do You Feel Very Familiar With Someone? Check your South Node
By amiann | Published: February 4, 2012
We, all, know the feeling of coming home that we have with a few select people. I bet it is their planet(s) hitting your South Node. You will know the feeling, if you pay attention, as it is very specific. The relationship may be platonic or romantic. Either way, you feel the sense of family with the person. It is very beautiful in this current climate of isolation. It is the proverbial warm fuzzy.

Oh, no, that's okay! I was just thinking of her, and then saw the thread.

I have believed in past lives. I'm interested in the draconic threads I saw here yesterday, but haven't read through them properly yet. I have Moon/Venus conjunct my South Node, Mars square, and some trines, sextiles, inconjuncts.

I do feel a strong connection to people with Capricorn south node (I'm a Cappy sun.) But for some reason, I've never been attracted to men whose sun conjuncts my south node in Taurus.

I get a little lost with synastry issues that will impact a whole generation or everyone who was in my class in school. So we all had the same south node- did it matter?

Maybe it did.

I DO believe that having my Venus conjunct my generation's Neptune was something like a curse!

My best friend has Venus conjunct South Node. She's been single a long time even though she is beautiful and perfect (yeah, if you ask me! )

Do you feel like it affects your love life? Moon conjunct South Node sounds tough, too.

I am talking about it in synastry i.e between two people.

Yes, her planets on SN may make it hard for you to go forward with them. I never thought of that.

I've wondered about that myself. That part of my life - what has existed of it - is just weird, and I'm fed up with it.

interesting. now, not trying to be sarcastic or anything but how would "past life patterns" meaning of SN apply to, say newborn babies? would it be an indicator of future patterns as they are yet to occur? again, not trying to be sarcastic, i am curious

my mum has sun + venus conjunct south node yo and she lives for and in the past, like the future means nothing until it becomes the past if you know what i mean lol
