I was just perusing Google books and looking up various combos of sun/moon. Came to Taurus/Taurus and it says, inter alia, that the person is an ardent lover but an imperious lover.

So, first of all, how can anybody be an imperious lover? How do you love disdainfully? I don't get it. But let's say it's true... what about this combination would make someone act that way towards a lover? Anybody with some insight?

1. What are the definitions of Ardent & imperious?

2. Where is the conflict?

3. What is your interpretation of the two?

All I remember of this Sun/Moon combination is 'double trouble and strong struggles for control in the relationship sphere' With a lot of stubborness and a marked lazy streak. The birth # (eg. 7th) with flavor the personality somewhat.

It's not "ardent" I'm curious about. To me, ardent means doing something with passion/energy/verve. The word "imperious" tripped me up, because the definition of that in some dictionaries is "disdainful". So what are they saying, this person is passionate but looks down on their partner? That's what I want to know. C'est tout.

Imperious - domineering in a haughty manner; dictatorial; overbearing: an imperious manner; an imperious person.

Maybe the overwhelm their partner with passion. All consuming fiery passion.

My interpretation of the passage is that the Taurus will be a judgmental lover, making sure the person is appropriate for their commitment. Or, can attempt to mold the person who may not be quite right, to their mind, into the perfect mate.

I think the reasoning is that, removing other influences, Taurus wants a lifelong relationship, but wants it to meet certain standards.

And I cosign with Lara.

I know someone with that combo.

He's generally calm and easy going, but when it comes to girlfriends he's picky and obsessive.

He's really, really, ridiculously good looking and gets hit on often. He's never interested back though. He's in his early 20s, and as far as I know has been interested in only 2 girls. He was/is obsessed with them.

Perhaps what bores him with other women is that because they don't feel like a perfect fit for him, he's unable to become obsessed with them. He wants them to be or have the potential to be his dream girl.

hmmmmm, controlling maybe? Judgmental maybe? I wonder if that's what the author meant. Guess we'll never know, but thanks for the input, all who answered.
