I'm a performing musician and I'm confident in my music and talent but things have been slow because I haven't found a break to catapult me to the level of success that I find satisfactory. With my income(nothing fabulous), I thought that I'd use it to further my career but I suddenly wondered if I should go back to University and study music instead. I'm 27 yrs old, and it's late to be an undergrad again, but it feels like the right thing to do. Maybe I'm just panicking about my future, and this "going back to school" thing could just be a silly whim.

I studied management (didn't complete) and then later got put through school by the firm I worked for before I quit finance to be a full time musician. Yeah, That's how much faith I had in myself.

Can someone look at my transits to see what's going on to make me want to go back to school, and to see whether this is a good idea or what, considering that I'm so old now.

I can't post a chart from my cell phone, so here is my data. (*ask for data if you need it)

Thank You

Unmoved,

You're not going backwards. Everything happens for a reason.

I looked at your transits, solar arcs, and secondary progressions.

Transiting Jupiter is trining Jupiter, and this indicates a time of significant expansion. It's a perfect time for getting involved in education, philosophy. It can be a time for optimism, luck.

Transiting Jupiter is paralleling your Mercury which indicates the time of mental expansion, and this could fit with education, philosophy

Transiting Pluto is sextiling your Ascendant which indicates the time to have an opportunity to transform your outlook on life. a time for transform, being empowered.

Transiting Uranus is trining your Mars which indicates the time for sudden, enterprising action, planning. It can fit changes in your actions, plans.

Transiting North Lunar Node is trining your Sun which could indicate a time of making connections with others that could benefit you.

Solar Arc Node is squaring your Jupiter which can indicate connections involving expansion,optimism....this can be connections through education.

Solar Arc Neptune is squaring your Saturn which can indicate a time that your ambitions are being dissolved which affects your security. It is a potential depressive, anxious, fearful type of Solar Arc. It could be used for spiritual, compassionate endeavors though.

Your Progressed Midheaven is sextile Saturn which indicates a time that you can realize what you want to do for a career which might involve being practical, realistic.

I looked at planets in your houses

your 5th house is packed with transiting Sun,Venus,Jupiter, and Neptune in 5th. There is strong emphasis on creativity, self expression. I think that would be good for your music career.

Transiting retrograde Saturn is in your 12th, and it could indicate a time for anxiety, fears. It doesn't have to be. It could be a time for significant introspection, meditation, and spiritual growth.

Transiting retrograde Mars is in your 10th, and that could indicate taking introspective on how to assert yourself in regards to your career. A time to think about things before acting.

Your Moon is progressed in Cancer indicates an emphasis on domestic, family stuff. It's in your 10th house, and so emotional focus on career.

so definitely stuff on career concerns.

Going back to school seems like a good thing to do right now. It can be a time to just expand your mind in all kinds of ways.

with the packed 5th house transit-wise, there is a lot of of emphasis on creativity, self expression which fits with your music career. To me, that means that maybe you should keep going at it and not give up. The Jupiter transits can be good for optimism, luck. There can be good things in store. Maybe you will have that big break.

I will look at transits, secondary progressions, and solar arcs to your midpoints too.

Thank you Raymond. That was more thorough than what I expected. I'm going to read your response again and make some metal notes on where I can maximize my opportunity.

studying again seemed a strange idea and I just couldn't see why I haven't thought of it before if it's really a good idea. I was very suprised when I started to see myself going back to school and wondered if it might be a passing feeling.

I will never give up. I was planning on studying by day and performing by night.

Thanks again Raymond.

Thank you Raymond. From perusing the previous post, what stood out was the Jupiter opp Saturn/MC which represents the doing of things right, the way they should have been done... I relate with that so much because I feel that I should have studied music a long time ago, but the financial restraints I had made things difficult. When I did make money I concentrated on other things, not furthering my studies. So, since then I felt that if the opportunity arises for studies, I'd take it. But, as you can see, I'm uncertain.

The feedback you gave me gives me better food for thought. Thank you. I really appreciate getting so much info. And, as your feedback says, Raymond, there are definitely dark moments of depression about career. The uncertainty is excessively uncomfortable, yet remaining in a secure job I hated would have been worse.

Thanks and much love to you Raymond.

My personal feeling (and it has nothing to do with astrology)is that you should stick with your first aim.
I feel the urge to maybe go back to study is just a way of putting off the reality of the career path you have chosen.
It's the hardest one but you chose it because you love it.
So don't lose faith in yourself now. Keep pushing and keep pushing until you get what it is you really want.
You know what that is deep down.
You may just be one final shove away from it.
Don't give up xx

Leapinglemur- I live in South Africa. Thank you for your wise words. Backwards could be forward.

Bunnies- It's great to hear from you. It's been a while. Now, regarding your response, it is exactly why I posted because I'm not sure if this urge to study is genuine or whether it is some type of avoidance tactic. I wondered also if I was just giving up in a clever way. So, with all considered, I'll have to think about it further and hope for a sign.

Thank you

Unmoved,

it's NEVER too late for school! My dad went back to Univ at the ripe old age of 57 to get a 2nd doctorate. He was working f/t too while schooling f/t...he was suuuuper stressed, but finished everything in 3yrs!

I'm just curious. You've been a musician all along, so why go back to study music? How would that further your career?

I know a musician who never went to university until 25, and when she did she was a bit popular, not too popular but music was her job.

She is 29 and still studying at uni as well as making music.

I think she is studying musicology and something else- her aim is to be able to learn about better recording techniques and also improve her singing. Her new recordings are much better.

I think it's a great idea Unmoved !

I know quite a lot of people who had dropped out of uni and started all over again at 26 or 28.. it's really not that late considering that you want to study music so you will be able to improve your skills and it will impress people AND you could give lessons if you want later on.

I really think you should try this !!

ps.- plus, you could make new contacts, collaborations and there is nothing like being surrounded by people who love music that would boost your enthusiasm !

Hi Agent 009. Thank you for your response. I appreciate it because your dad's story gives me confidence. swirl-kitt answered your question for me. I'm self trained in all I do. To have some external training would increase my skills and abilities to a greater level, whilst also giving me "accreditation" to teach music if I wish to do so in the future.

Also, the facilities which would be freely available, plus the advice I'd receive from constructive criticism of studying in a University would not make me just a soul musician which I am, but I could also expand my repertoire and be able to write even film scores. There is great benefit in studying something for which I have natural talent. I love music that I'd like to do and learn everything I can about it.

But, as I mentioned, I've never felt this way because I am as competent as many who studied music and have never felt the need to study something I felt I already knew. but, if my ego steps aside, I think it clear that to train would make me even better.

swirl-kitt- hey doll. You pretty much hit the mark there with your response. As for my age worry, I suppose it doesn't have to be a problem seeing as there are many older people furthering their studies. Thank you. Your response was encouraging.

Unmoved,

I was very glad to help in any way that I possibly can. I know what it's like to be uncertain about career paths.

I believe in purusing one's dreams with as much tenacity in general and not giving up even if there are

That's what separates the successful people from people are constantly struggling.

It is said that t-squares are very common in successful people too.

any ways....I wish you all the best.
Let me know what goes on with you in regards to the Jupiter transits.

also feel free to ask me any questions.

peace

Raymond,

I'm nowhere near my computer and I can only make phone calls on the cell so I just tried to add you but couldn't. So, you can wait for a few days or just add me. Here's my myspace:

I think it will automatically make us friends when you send a request.

Thank you for making yourself available to me. I'll most definitely give you feedback on the Jupiter transits.

Unmoved -

I was just thinking about you the other day! I remembered that in your Solar Return this year, your NN is emphasized. And I know those years are tough. (They have been for me, anyway). So I was wondering how you were doing.

Lemur's comment about going backward in order to go forward makes a lot of sense to me, particularly since this is a Nodal year for you.

I see in your natal that you have your SN in Cap in your 3rd house. No wonder you're considering going back to school! Cap wants that formal, structured education.

Why does your Cap SN want that? What's it going to do with it? It's going to communicate in your watery 9th house.

I think of the 9th house as our communication with the world, and its communication with us. It's that cultural dialogue all artists enter into. You have your NN in that house in Cancer, perfect for an artist! The dialogue is watery - emotional, you get under the listener's skin.

The 9th house is also the house of higher education, so by going back and studying formally (Cap SN) you'll be satisfying your 9th house NN at the same time.

So really, you couldn't live the year your Solar Return shows (Node emphasis) and NOT want to go back to school. That formal learning will serve your artistic communication. Damn I'm good.

Hey jane.

Thank you for thinking of me. It's very sweet of you. yes, my 2009/2010 Solar return did have that NN emphasis. I think it was conjunct Mars or something in the Natal/Solar Return comparison. I think...

Yes, jane. You're good! With SN/NN in 3rd /9th, I can definitely see why the higher education to communicate my "destiny" is important. But the way you put it had more finesse than I possibly could have put it.

As for your name asteroid on my chart being conjunct karma in your chart, it means you're all over my karmic @ss

I was thinking about 3 Virgos (as I do) who have been MIA here - you, Writesomething, and MVM. I wondered what you were all up to & worried that your Solar Return may have you feeling beaten up.

Lol, the "good" comment was a joke. I was playing up my Leo-ness for your Virgo-ness. Looks like you did something similar for me with your "finesse" comment, because we both know that wasn't the literal truth!

Where are you on the college issue? Leaning one way or the other?

hey, unmoved!! going to school is not exclusive of performing as you have already said. you might even meet some people at school who can further your career/ open doors not noticeable before!

my dad was an "educated" musician. he had lost of jazzer friends who had learned as they went and couldn't read music but did just fine professionally. but they envied him his writing skills and education and many of them learned to write music and read it later in life.

there is no set schedule for success and sometimes the stalling you seem to be feeling is just giving you time to accumulate knowledge (and chops) you didn't have before...so you can break through even better when you do.

and MANY people do n ot "crack it" until their saturn return, which is looming for you...

jane- honestly, my desires say that to study would be great fun. I'm always leaning toward self improvement. I like the idea of being a better musician. It excites me. yes, jane. You heard me. It excites me.

hey kat- valid points all round. Also, to study would give me more confidence to tackle bigger projects like writing an epic piece of music with better ease, Chopin style. Thank you, kat.
