It is very interesting and inspiring to see so many of you who are so good at Astrology. I was thinking it would be a good idea if you can share your thoughts on how you ended up becoming experts in this field. It will be very facinating and inspiring for rest of us to be like you (IQ and DD in particular). I am not sure who else is equally good at this, since I am fairly new to this website (joined only 3-4 days back). Cheers guys!! IP: Logged |

The best way to learn Astrology is honest self-introspection. Recall the most momentous events in life. Note down your observations, then check the transits. See which transit descriptions explain that event clearly.Same way, introspect and note down all your personal strengths and weaknesses. Then check the natal chart descriptions for a planet in a sign or house to see which ones fit and which ones dont. Last but not the least, read 1. "The Astrology of Inner Space" by Carl Payne Tobey 2. Sun Signs, Love Signs and Relationship Signs by Linda Goodman for the most clear understanding of astrological principles. And this free correspondence course: http://mysite.verizon.net/bonniehill/pages.aux/astrology/tobey/index.html These wont teach Asteroids or esoteric astrology but will strengthen your basic understanding for applying astrology principles. I learnt everything I know from www.astro.com initially and then I bought hundreds of books. I have over 300 - 400 astrology books in English Turkish and German... and of course i observed my own transits and everyones elses. I was looking up astrology transits and progressions for hours everyday. I've been doing it for 10 years now. My aunty was a famous astrologer in Turkey before she passed away last year.

LindaGreg,Have you thought about maybe doing one thread and listing your questions on it as they arise? We have no search function on LL and i already find it hard to keep up with new threads that get shunted down before i've had a chance to look at them Nothing personal; i'm just lazy hehe IP: Logged |

Fabulous! Now that is what I call, some positive contributions. Thanks guys!! Please keep adding your thoughts. There is always more room for this.Hey Lara, I understand where you are coming from. No offense taken. But you see, my questions are different from each other. Therefore I think it is better to seperate my questions. Otherwise, I will be confusing the reader. For example, in one thread I was asking questions on Vertex; in another one it was about my transit reading; whereas this one is more generic. If I club them into one message blob, I am not sure it will be easy for people to grasp. After all, isn't this the reason why we have these messageboards? so as to seperate our ideas and thoughts into different threads and people can pitch in based on the concept that was brought up? By the way, I am only sending postive vibes to you; please do not take this in a negative way.I am just giving you reasons. All of you, you are doing a great service with your contributions. Keep up the good work. IP: Logged |

I've always had some interest in astrology in the past, but then I've started to boost my astrological knowledge a few years ago, specially when I arrived here in LindaLand. X3 I was first interested in self discovery through my own chart, and then when I've started dating, I've been learning a lot about relational astrology too. But well, I guess that I've always been kinda interested in psychology/feelings and symbolism, so that it made things a bit easier (intuitive understanding), and then I've also been attentive to different methods/theories/questions of the other members here that I've started to learn a lot too (where can we find iQ's precious knowledge about asteroids, DD's interesting experimental researches and Glaucus' vast knowledge on the internet?? X3 ).But well, I can still remember how back then I've asked noobish questions such as "what's the meaning of Part of Fortune in someone's 7th house in synastry" lol~ (yeah this is embarrassing XP ) IP: Logged |

I have been into astrology since 1994 - oh that will be 16 years this year! (March 1994) Scary! I have read a lot of books and perused many websites on astrology. I have even learned astrology from my peers here. I was in a local Astrology club here back in the 90s and they would introduce advanced topics in astrology. A lot of self reflection and introspection is good too - so I agree with the above poster about that! I have also looked at friends and family's transits and charts. I will actually do in depth readings for friends - using various charts - natal, solar return, progressions, relocation charts etc... So read and practice astrology is a very good way to do it. I wouldn't say I'm an expert (I do lack knowledge in certain astrological fields), but I just apply everything I've learned to situations presented here (or anywhere else)It started when I was 14, really. The local library had a few books and a few computer programs on astrology and because one of those books sparked my interest in in-depth astrology (because most books only mention the sun signs). Once I got an astrology program and saw my chart, that is what really sparked my interest. So I kept on buying books about in-depth astrology, but after a while I went into a chat room on astrology. There is probably where I learned most of what I now know about astrology. And astro.com helped me a lot for checking charts quickly and easily, making it even easier to learn about astrology. And there were a few other websites too, but since I learn better hands-on than through a book, I learned most of what I know from the astrologers who were in that chat room. I sometimes miss that chat room, if there's anything that will teach you to think quick on your feet when it comes to astrology, it would be that ------------------ Official Conor's Feeding Machine! I wonder how many of you got attracted to this because of love/lack of love from someone. I fall into this category. I never realized that I would give so much importance to a guy that I have to look for answers all over the place.Love sucks!!IP: Logged |

LG - I've always had astrology books around growing up (my mum had a few, although she is not very interested in it).lol I became more interested in the books than she was. One of them was "Sun Signs" by Linda Goodman Later, in high school I realized the entire chart is significant so I did the same thing belgz did.. and I looked it up online at astro.com (& other sites) and read more about the different aspects. At that stage I was uncertain of astrology even though I liked it, but I liked it in the way you'd like a fairytale (something you know to be surreal.. that you still look at just for fun). After I drew my chart - I decided to investigate this further and I looked into everyone I knew, all my friends, family etc.. By the end of the year I knew everyone's birthdays off by heart LOL So in time I realized it DOES actually work, and it isn't just a "story". I'm still a little in awe of that fact ^ IP: Logged |

My passion in Astrology caught fire since around Dec 26 2009 - 3rd/4th Jan 2010. Somehow all my important events/milestones are tied up to this date range. I am speechless!IP: Logged |

I have been into astrology since 1988 / 1989, and I have been reading TONS of books. Mainly on natals and synastry. And somewhen down the road my brain started to put things together in its own way I guess, of course influenced by some of the authors I read. And I am learning a lot from being on here. IP: Logged |

lindaGreg - believe it or not, I actually became interested in astrology while trying to debunk it. Once I got into it, it actually started to make sense. Had nothing to do with love because when I was 14, I wasn't interested in love. Just in studying.I know, sad, isn't it? ------------------ Official Conor's Feeding Machine! IP: Logged |

i got into it back when linda was just popularizing it with "sun signs"...everybody was into sun signs for awhile there and a book fell my way which told how to cast your chart and a good deal more than sun signs. unfortunately it did not allow for daylight savings time!! which meant originally my asc came up as capricorn, and the fact that that did NOT make sense to me is what really got me interested... alan okens "complete astrology" is a great book to start with...but you have to like to read, he is not shallow!! and "sun signs" is excellent too, that's why it sold millions...
