I have looked into them for my chart and the charts of other people, and I just don't find them accurate at all. I read them and they sound like mindless pronouncements from senile sages. I have never, EVER, found them helpful in understanding a chart.

I don't get the hype.

They're ok.

Fixed degrees and stars are much more accurate, imo.

I find them amusing.
Kind of like an old, eccentric uncle. Occasional, accidental wisdom escapes.

Sabian Symbols are an astrological word salad.

I don't resonate with them at all, but then again it took a very long time for me to resonate with astrology. I absolutely hated astrology and thought it was insane. Unfortunately there is still a part of my aura that is stuck in that attitude even though I've been an astrologer for for years.

I also don't resonate with a lot of astrological techniques that other astrologers have great success with. I think Sabian Symbols work the same way. I'm not going out of my way to work with them and see how they work but I can understand and accept that they resonate for other practitioners.

I created my own set of Tarot Cards based on my knowledge of certain musicians ranging from early jazz musicians to contemporary rock musicians and the deck absolutely works for me in some mysterious way when I give readings to others. However, I don't expect those same meanings to work for other Tarot readers. I channelled the meanings of my cards just like Elsie Wheeler and Marc Edmund Jones channelled the Sabian Symbols. I just don't resonate with their symbols.

I think I can resonate with them in my chart. It's important to grasp the FEELING instead of getting bogged in the words.

GeoCosmic, may I ask how you created your own tarot? I am really curious!!!

"Unfortunately there is still a part of my aura that is stuck in that attitude even though I've been an astrologer for for years."

This sounds a lot like me, except about the tarot. LOL.

I`m suprised, cause I can really relate to them (Surprised cause I think the way they have been created to be a bit, mm, "questionable").
but it`s important to see them as a metaphor.

Sabian Symbols need plenty of practice.
They rarely work literally, and their duty is to inspire like a Cryptic Zen Koan.
I would not have started to study the Sabian Symbols had it not been for the Astrology Colossus Dane Rudhyar, who was able to see a 360 degree Spiritual Mandala in them. Rudhyar even used them to give a stunning analysis of Jiddu Krishnamurti's chart. I was sold, because I had keenly studied Krishnamurti's life story, it is very difficult for such analysis without the symbols. Later on, Robert Blaschke hit bull's eye using Sabians for the Dalai Lama.

I am able to fid out about past lifelines using Sabian Symbols.

I guess like Geocosmic's Tarot, every Astrology tool will work well for different Astrologers.

The weaver has no use for a Scimitar,
Nor does a blacksmith use a Scythe;
Sabian Symbols may work for a Raja or Czar,
But for the Sultan they may just be tripe.

" Later on, Robert Blaschke hit bull's eye using Sabians for the Dalai Lama."

his book on Sabian Aspect Orbs is awesome.
It not only helped me understand sabian symbols, but it helped me understand harmonics too.

he correlates every aspect angular separation to a degree of the zodiac.

Hello iQ,

Even your explaining that they work like a Zen Koan helps a little bit more so I get to take one more step toward them.

Raymond, I must enviously add that you beat me to the correct application of Asteroids and Sabian Symbols.

Geocosmic,
I can try to list a non-linear interpretation of the Sabian of your Ascendant, Sun, Saturn and North Node.
Lets see if any of the possible interps can ring a Zen Temple's bell

IQ - I like Dane Rudhyar's interpretations too. I recently stumbled upon his works. His analysis of the symbols resonates rather clearly for me. So, I am delighted with my finds.

Raymond,

it`s an interesting thought to look at the Sabians of midpoints. It never crossed my mind before!

The Sabian of my Sun/Moon-mp is on 21°31^Capricorn
By Accepting Defeat Gracefully, A General Reveals Nobility Of Character

(Maybe I am not meant to have a "soul-relationship" or find a balance within my own soul)

The Sabian of my Venus/Mars-mp is on 20°39 Sagittarius
A Child And A Dog Wearing Borrowed Eyeglasses

Hmm, I can`t really relate to that one. I `have no clue what that means.

Hi

i got curious now...is there any free e-book avaiable on the internet about the Dane Rudhyar´s interpretations of the SAbians?

i feel very very identified with my asc sabyan:

"LIBRA 5-6
A MAN WATCHES HIS IDEALS TAKING A CONCRETE FORM BEFORE HIS INNER VISION
Ideals are not only bought into the light of reality but they are being put to the test. This is a good time to visualize your thoughts and feelings. Doing this will make it possible to project your creative ideas out into the real world. What you thought would happen can happen. Watching your 'Ideals' unfolding, you'll see them coming into physical reality.
A vivid confrontation with one's objectives. Meditations and affirmations. The need to be careful to know what's wanted. Writing and getting published. Designs and plans coming to fruition.
The Caution: Being dissatisfied with the manifestation of what was thought to be the true ideal. Being careful what you ask for"

I think that the midpoint has to be aspect by

like in my case, my Saturn/Neptune midpoint is opposed by my Moon due to my Moon,Saturn,Neptune being in t-square.

Raymond,

you are right. I thought about that after I had posted my reply.

My Sun-Moon-mp is opposing my Vertex and Eros, but no planet.
My Venus-Mars-mp is pretty alone.

OMG

i never looked at my Sun/Mid. Sabian:

"A VERY OLD MAN FACING A VAST DARK SPACE TO THE NORTHEAST.

KEYNOTE: Fulfillment in transcending and changeless wisdom."

Dane Rudhyar says about it:

" (...) The Wise Old Man faces the Changeless Reality, the true North —- which for us is located in a northeast direction. He faces the great Void, that apparent Darkness which is an intense Light invisible to our senses.

As this is a fourth stage symbol in the five-fold sequence, there is as usual a hint of technique. Implied is that by consistently and for a long time meditating on the changeless and spiritual reality at the very core of all experiences one can attain the supreme and age-old wisdom. We see in the symbol a way beyond appearances and toward PERMANENCE IN TRUTH."
