What does it mean, apart from the obvious please?
I have
venus 21' aries
mars 21' taurus
Venus cj AC (23' aries) and so technically venus is in 1st house and mars also in 1st house. IP: Logged |

Hi Lara,It's like tapping into the natural energies of the sign that it rules.
Your Mars in Taurus can tap into the Aries energy and be direct and straight to the point instead of the more stubborn/passive role of a Mars/Taurus,
on the other hand your Venus in Aries knows when to slow down and follow her slower, more "take your sensual time" Taurus instincts. It's a terrific trade-off. IP: Logged |

My mercury is in cancer

Well there are certain conditions for mutual receptions to work:1) They have to be in ptolemaic aspect, otherwise it's not as strong 2) The planets can't be in detriment or fall. 3) They can't be "impaired" such as combust, under the beams, in the 12th, retrograde, etc. Really a Mutual Reception just means that the planets help each other out. Hmmmm, my Mercury in Cancer sextiles my Moon in Virgo. I see how they work when I'm doing math, analyzing data, reading, or using my strong intuition. Plus, the moon kind of softens the opposition between my mercury and neptune (it trines neptune and sextiles mercury). IP: Logged |

lol Lara - I had a mutual reception in synastry (also with detriment planets) and read that an astrologer..---- Ok ---- I looked it up, his name is Tom Callanan. He said two detriment planets in mutual reception are like "two drunks driving each other home" LOL IP: Logged |

well i tend to disagree...the mutual reception helps make the best of the "detriment" and the conjunction even more so...from what i have seen! and tho TRADITIONALLY venus is in detriment in scorpio that has not been my experience either!IP: Logged |

katatonic - I don't agree with that either. I just found it funny For me detriment planets are *strange*, *different*, *odd*, *special*.. A detriment planet is not negative or afflicted.. Rather, it acts in an entirely different manner from the energy that is expected of it. For instance - with Venus we expect the social butterfly (Libran energy).. or the sensual pleasure-loving Taurean energy. Scorpio is intense, dark, penetrating.. So when Venus is in Scorpio it acts in a manner very *unlike* what people would expect. The person has a captivating, sometimes shocking love-nature. Aries is independent, masculine, confident, self-centered. Venus is the planet of "us".. so again the energy seems entirely different from what people expect. An Aries Venus is much more forward or sexual in their manner of socializing and in their manner of seduction - than is the *social norm*.. of the era when this person is alive.. There's an Aries Venus man who's been interested in me for a year now. He's Sun and Mercury in Aries, too. So shy, and gets so nervous around me. Mars in Taurus is the dispositor of his Aries energy and only recently have I learned his birthday. I always thought he was either Virgo or Taurus. Not what you'd expect from Venus in Aries. So he has the mutual reception too, PLUS I have Mars in Libra so thats also mutual reception with his Venus. And they're opposed. Your description on planets in detriment describes my Mars in Cancer very well.
My power is not direct as power SHOULD be. A person should feel emotion(moon) and express it (mars).
Expressing strong emotions like anger ls like walking through mud.
Accessing my own power and being comfortable with it feels like I am under many blankets and trying to fight my way to the top where I can express my anger/power directly--not in a sideways way like the crab.

Mutual Receptions through what I have noticed takes the Energies and yes it Carries them to each other in some way or another but, aren't necessarily good or bad as everything is relative.Mutual Receptions between any given planet would allow both planets to bring their "Stuff" to each other for better or worse in such a manner that it benefits or hinders the other. For instance I have the Moon in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer.Jupiter relates to the manner in which one Expands one's self but, without the house placement we can't see where one does this but, we can see how one would go about doing so. So with Jupiter in Cancer one may gravitate towards being caring and sensitive to domestic situations and the energies of people within their families. This Jupiter would gravitate towards gaining a sense of comfort where ever one goes(Hence my generations connection to being "too comfortable"as my mother always says). The Moon in Pisces would show just what this person is comfortable with and how this person expresses comfortability as well as what is natural for this person's soul. The Moon being in Pisces would show that this person is comfortable with connecting to something higher than the self but, gravitates towards imaginative,creative,and spiritual things. This person's intuition would be heightened or they can be simply delusional and these things would all show crafts that the person gets themselves into in the future as well because of Jupiter's placement.The manner in which one's intuition and spiritual endeavors would show up though would be seen through Jupiter and with Jupiter in Cancer this person would do things that are once again comfortable,things that deal with the emotions,and more or less personal things such as connecting to the self.This person would be on a constant need to take what they feel inside of them and express them in the world.How they would do this would be through the Moon in Pisces which would be through maybe music,art,psychic practices,nurturing and caring for others,connecting to a vision and a dream and Jupiter would show how this person goes about these things. It is a never ending Loop and will always seem to help in some way or another. There are ways it could be bad especially if they are in bad aspects or if there are aspects to the planet that have to be taken into consideration. I worded it in another point of view so that I didn't say my name over and over again as well!The Rulers of each planet help to take Astrology into an even further depth. It helps you to really see just how deep astrology really is. Mutual Receptions though seemingly good can bring baggage with each planet. They can also make for wonderful talents and abilities depending on the planets involved. They feel rather intense to me and are similar in some sense to conjunctions but, without the force as the planets can work subtly as well.Well I hope that helps you understand them a bit better IP: Logged |

Dionysus - wow. Fantastic, thank you Vapor, yes. My venus is Aries makes me very sexually-action orientated. It's not that i am promiscuous. I guess it's more like a venus/pluto conjunct exact.

ami ann - i have cancer mars too! and while i know what you mean i wonder if you have noticed that your energy comes in waves? when i grasped this concept i stopped pushing myself to achieve on the "ebb" tide and not to let the strong forward periods go by...life got a lot easier to deal with then. of course in a world where "mars" is equated with "arien" head-first full-on push, it can be hard to silence the critical voices in your head (and outside it too!) but when you learn to enjoy the low-energy times you can make a great deal more use of your martian energy...IP: Logged |

I have Taurus Mars and Aries Venus. I see the ruler of the sign in which a planet is in often influences the planet's manifestation, so that if my Aries side/Venus isn't happy, then I might not really manifest my Mars side much, and if my Mars isn't happy, then my Aries side would be less active.IP: Logged |
