Maybe others think differently, But for me mutual receptions lessen the effects if the planets are square. And they tend to indicate talents, too. Yours could be something like you assert yourself with honest direct communication and you don't lose sight of higher matters and like to feel a spiritual bond with others because it affirms your optimistic faith in life.

Glass half full/empty and all that right?

I don't think mutual receptions lessen the aspect between the planets, if they are in aspect. What it does is heighten the dignity of both planets to the same level as an exaltation. Even in dignity or exaltation, planets have a "dark" side that can be brought to the surface via tension, either directly from the other mutually received planet or by affliction from other planets in the chart, or a de-emphasis of their better energies, like the planet is placed in a house that might suppress its more positive side.

So I would see a mutual reception has having more energy to work with, and, if in a difficult aspect, a difficult house or afflicted by other chart aspects, the native has a greater responsibility to work with that energy in a positive way.
