well, if you're familiar or have your chart up in front of you, any line in the middle of your chart that touches one and the other (kind of like connect the dots) is an aspect. it's basically any contact between them.. some, you may not see a line for you may just see a circle or even a circle with a little line coming out of it.. not unlike the symbol for mars except that it won't have the arrow at the end. those would be conjunctions.but basically, everything else that touches, is an aspect.. they can aspect your significant axis' as well like your ascendant, midheave, ic and descendant. automatically though, if it aspects one of the axis' mentioned, it does so the other as well. the vertex is something else that is considered an axis as well as the nodes.
tricky thing with the ascendant, descendant, midheave and ic is that not always will they all aspect each other.. traditionally, yes it would but not every chart is like that but it remains for the ascendant/descendant and the midheave/ic.. not always does the ascendant aspect the ic nor does the midheaven to the descendant.
the nodes, same thing. they're always opposite one another.. same with the vertex and the anti vertex though not much is wrtitten about those points, some still find them significant if a planet touches them in synastry, transit or natally and the closer the aspect (the orb; the closer to the same degree) the better and more significant it'll prove to be.
