It's said that:
- hard Uranus aspects can show exciting electrical attraction, but also instability or independence problems in the long run;
- hard Neptune aspects can show a dreamy, spiritual connection, but it can be confusion and even deceptions too;
- and hard Pluto aspects can show intensity and deep passion, yet it can show manipulation, sex at the expense of emotional bond and selfishness.

(The hard aspects would be conjunction, square and opposition, with the conjunction being too intense and taking over, while the square being the most conflicting)

I wonder if anyone has any experience with these aspects in the composite? Are they problematic? If so, how does the couple try to tackle the problems?
Also, what was the nature of the relationship? This can be relevant, since not all the composite aspects would fully manifest 'till the relationship is deeper.

I had a tight Venus square Uranus in a composite with the first person I ever fell in love with. We could never really "get it together" and DATE like a nice, normal couple. Something always seemed to get in the way or disrupt the potential for that...sometimes even our own actions. The thought of that seemed to even sit well with either of us but I don't think we were mature enough to accept that and ended up just settling on not being together at all. In retrospect I think the relationship would have worked out if we could have accepted that we were never going to be a "typical" couple that does daily/routine things together. I have a super tight Venus/Uranus conjunction in my chart and I've learned Uranus is about spontaneous pleasure and just going along with those waves and never pushing for them because just when you try to go after it is when it will appear so elusive and strange.
I also had a tight Moon conjunct Pluto with someone in a composite and that was really exhausting. I've read that it being the Moon, the woman will experience such an aspect more difficultly (I'm still on the fence about fully identifying the Moon/Venus with the woman and Sun/Mars with the man in a male/female chart but can attest to it in this case!) Very intimate and intense but hard to deal with that energy in more casual setting and when we were not around each other. I would get possessive and obsessive which is very unlike me in relationships. I would think about him ALL the time, my actions were totally based around him. In retrospect, it was awful. I feel like he caged me but I couldn't nor did I want to, be "free" from him. Ultimately letting go of the relationship brought the most growth I've ever experienced from a relationship, but I don't think I could have experienced that while staying in the relationship.
Have to say both these aspects ultimately ended the relationships....but again, I have a Venus/Uranus exact conjunction and "holding on" to relationships never really works for me, so I guess again, natal pictures are very important in how you deal with those aspects. The Venus/Uranus square was very familiar to me and the fact that we couldn't stay together almost seemed natural/okay to me (not so much for him though) while that Moon/Pluto conjunction was really too much for me. I actually have a Venus/Uranus conjunction with someone now, but we both have this aspect natally so it's working out nicely actually... seems very natural and accepted by both of us.
But I would definitely agree with your assessment of the particular hard aspects-- the square being a CONFLICT, the conjunction taking over...I think oppositions have the potential to be great or conflicting, but the oscillation is definitely there.

popcorn, if you don't mind me asking, did the sex leave no room to emotional bond (like it's always about making sex rather than making love)? Also, was there any selfishness from his side, as well as power struggles?

staborgi, yeah Uranus hard aspects might show that a relationship is unconventional, and hard to follow the tradition. In fact, these aspects are often present in brief relationships, since these relationships are often exciting but hard to stabilize like normal relationships. But it's possible to work out, if the couple is already familiar with Uranus energies and are fine with the unconventional.

Moon and Venus can often represent the woman while Saturn and Mars can often represent the man coz the woman tends to reflect the feminine energies of the relationship, while the man tend to reflect the masculine energies of the relationship. For example, in an emotional relationship, the woman tends to reflect the emotions more than the man. But this is not always certain, as it depends on the nature of each person (some women can be more masculine, while some men can be more sensitive).
By the way, I've stated Saturn instead of Sun, coz the Sun would rather represent the chore of the relationship (also, a very skilled astrologer in composites uses Saturn instead).

Interesting comica.

So i am guessing that Saturn sextile venus and moon exact square mars would be quite balanced, seeing as the yin/yang of both are aspecting the yin/yang of the other?

Yeah, part of my apprehension in assigning sex to planets in composites is that I couldn't wrap my head around the Sun being just the male's energy, so that's certainly interesting and clarifying to know Saturn is the other male energy.
Also, I wish I could remember where, but I once read that outer planets in composites often have to do with energies that confront the couple from "outside" their relationship. For example, the one that comes to mind that I remember reading was that Pluto squares might indicate other people getting in the way of the relationship or causing conflicts.

Lara, I'd think that Saturn sextile Venus is good for stability of affections (yeah maybe yin yang harmony), while the Moon/Mars square can create an intense attraction, but can also create heated emotional conflicts.

Saturn and Moon in harmony can generally mean good affinity and devotion between the couple (but Sun and Moon in harmony also seems to show affinity), while Venus and Mars in harmony can show good physical/emotional attraction.
I've heard that Saturn and Moon conjunction is one of the strongest glue in the composite, for better or worse.

staborgi, I've heard that hard aspects between Jupiter and Pluto can mean outside influences on the relationship, mainly career or other relationships. Their midpoint in hard aspects can also show this in some cases.

Just a beginners question----Is Synastry more accurate than composite?
It seems like synastry is more "real" than composite which is a man made system.
Am I right/wrong?

Thanks Ami

I also wonder about Pluto's fellow transneptunians in hard aspects in composite charts. They would have the same effect as Pluto in regards to evolutionary intensified lessons/experiences that can be hard to deal with.

My mother and I have a strong transneptunian composite chart. I am just talking about the big transneptunian objects

Transneptunian dwarf planet,Makemake conjunct Ascendant - 1'01

Transneptunian dwarf planet,Eris square Moon - '31
Transneptunian dwarf planet candidate/Plutino,Orcus oppose Moon - '25
(The Moon,Orcus,Eris T-square)

Transneptunian dwarf planet candidate/Plutino, Ixion oppose/conjunct Midheaven/Imum Coeli - 1'33

my mother and I have a history of a love n' hate relationship that was quite volatile, abusive (her abusing me), and involved life and death experience (her being shot, and I was with her at the time when I was almost 3 and she was 20). She and I also dealt with racial prejudice with the interracial parent-child connection.
As a parent, she had to take care of a special education needs child. As an adult son,I have obligation to support a disabled mother with health problems. We also share things in common like neurodivergence which factors into both of us being very hypersensitive and overreacting to environment leading to volatile emotional meltdowns Both She and I grew up knowing one parent. My mom never knew her mother, and I never knew my father. Therefore,we know very little of our roots.

Transneptunians have to do with "the unknown",the "other side" and the subtle because they orbit beyond Neptune which symbolizes the boundaries being dissolved.

Our parent-child relationship is highly evolutionary intensified relationship like the very strong transneptunian composite suggests.

21st Century Astrology with the transneptunian dwarf planets, dwarf planet candidates seem to reflect the relationship better. The transneptunians fill in the blanks. It's the same in our natal charts too.

Ami Ann, the accuracy of each method depends on the skills of an astrologer. While synastry works better for some, composite works better for others. But in any cases, they show different but complementary things of a relationship (synastry shows where a couple is compatible/incompatible, and composite shows how these compatibilities/incompatibilities manifests).

Also, the composite might not be an imaginary system, but then again even thought the whole astrology system is based on real positions of the celestial objects, it is also based on an imaginary system of symbolism and mathematics, without any scientific proof that it works.
But well, as long as it works and it helps us to reach a better understanding, then why not? X3

This is very interesting. And I've seen these objects being used in composite interpretations before, although I still need to understand each of their symbolism better.

I will start a new thread on Transneptunian Composites later.

In my composite with my exgf,Meghann.
I had Neptune oppose/conjunct Ascendant/Descendant axis and square Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis. The relationship was hard to pin down. She and I were in a long distance relationship and uncertain when she and I would actually physically get together. She had to worry about getting better employment and relocating to wherever. Therefore, we didn't know where we were going to live. Well..she was really about being there for her mother. I already told you about that issue.

She and I had Venus-Saturn opposition with Uranus squaring that. That could indicate unexpected barriers in the relationship. I also thought that indicate also our interracial relationship that involved an age difference of 12 years.
I was very concerned about that t-square.
The Neptune square Midheaven seemed to echo her Neptune conjunct Midheaven in regards to not having a clue about her career.

She and I had transneptunian dwarf planet Haumea oppose/conjunct the Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis and square the Ascendant/Descendant axis which indicate evolutionary intensified lessons, experiences overall in our relationship.

Of course it ended with her breaking my heart too, letting fear overcome love. That's what Venus oppose Saturn came down to.

Our composite Venus oppose Saturn was even in opposition to her Mom's Lunar Nodal axis!

That will be cool, I'll be waiting for that thread. I'm specially interested in Sedna and Orcus, and they seem to be related to oaths and revelation of truth, but I still don't know very much about them.

That t-square you have in the composite with your ex seems to be hard to deal with, since Uranus square Saturn can show a hard time in reaching a stable relationship. Venus opposed to Saturn can show some distance, and with Uranus squaring this opposition, the instability would just aggravate this issue.

By the way, were there any hard aspect between Jupiter and Pluto, or between their midpoint to other planet/midpoint? This can also show that other people has an influence in a relationship.
