Second of all, I am not a big believer in either aspect being a big deal unless those planets are important in both natal charts. Meaning, if they relate to angles or angle rulers.

My ex husband and I had an exact Venus/Pluto square (I was Pluto). BUT. He has that in his own chart also. So it's generational.
However, since I have Pluto as my 7th house ruler and Scorpio Venus, I am susceptible to that aspect. He also had Pluto in his 7th house, so yeah, he probably felt it.
It was extremely intense and lots of love and hate. Strngly sexual, but you know, again, I don't think you can look at that one aspect and be like, Oooh, that's why it was sexual. There's more going on which made it sexual. Like my Neptune on his Mars, his Mars in my 8th. That kind of thing. There's a theme going on, and you can see it repeating itself.

Venus is my chart ruler and Mars is the co ruler of his 7th house cusp and we have them in exact square.

I was thinking if someone has a Taurus ASC would Mars still be counted as their DSC ruler?

If so the aspect is vaild.

Oh boy not really sure how to describe all this. Well the first Venus opps Pluto in the synastry isn't us at all. The composite is more us. We go back and fourth with each other. Ones hot, the other is cold. Make and fourth. BLAK!!! Its a totally mess. Yes I am guilty of it also. LOL...
We are both extremely aloof with each other, then one day we can't stop looking at each other. We just have these deep stares, then I think both of us freak out and then get cold with each other (maybe our hard venus aspects). We both try to pull away but some how, something happens and boom the other has to get in contact with the other. Its extremely confusing. I wanna run, but I want to stay. I glad he's around, but Im ok when he's not. We can go a week or so w/o any contact, neither of us get mad or upset with the other, we just dont talk. We both I guess ok with it....

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Im trying to put it into words which is extremely difficult.

I like DW's because whatever I am going through the person seems to understand cause they are going through the same thing, a sort of mutual bonding and it's even more mutual when the person as the same aspect in their natal chart, so they are even more prepared for the aspect's energy in synastry.

I now like to compare natals seperatly and see if there are some similarities, for example:

If I was dating a person with Venus in Scorpio and I had Venus in the 8th, we'd have bit of mutuality going on but mines would be more Leonine then Scorpion.Even if our Venuses were squared and I feel a bit of a inkling to them.
