Hello Lindafolk.Anyone have any good tips on guessing someone's ascendant from their personality or appearance? I'm too embarassed to ask for the time haha. IP: Logged |

hmmm Leo ascendant...= great, sex appeal, hair/clothes/styleSagittarius ascendant, tanned, muscular, good looking Libra ascendants are usually very well mannered, polite, charming. Scorpio, magnetic eyes, personna, drawing you in. Virgo, distracted or concentrating on their inner analysing, neat yet indie appearance? also sensual Cancer... very sensual looking, full lips, healthy glowing eyes, round or full face. positive/masculine signs are outgoing and appear to be giving off lots of energy. negative/feminine signs are receptive, seemingly more introverted and taking a step back from things. Thank you Quinnie! That helps a bit!Basically I am thinking this guy is either Cancer or Taurus, maybe Virgo... except he has a Virgo Moon, Taurus Mercury and Cancer Venus and Mars... so it could be those planets making me think that! Any specific bit I should be looking at..?
As in, you can often see Moon sign in the eyes, Mars in the build...? I am tempted to post a photo. But I'd have to ask permission, in which case I might as well ask him his birth time! IP: Logged |

I can name several people who match these descriptions but they are not the ascendants described. Like for the Leo, my sexiest friend Selma would fit that description quite well, but she is Scorpio Rising. And I know 2 Sag Risings (1 is my father) and they are not tanned or muscular (they are, however both freckly and nerdy 1950s all American boy looking). My ex was Cancer rising and very tall and skinny and didn't have a "roundness" to his face at all. He had very sharp features. Ascendants are very difficult to guess particularly because you have to take into account the rulers of the ascendant and where they are in the chart and what aspects other planets make to the ASC. Also some astrologers use decans (example, third decan of Gemini is ruled by Uranus) My current boyfriend and I are both Gemini Rising and we don't look anything alike. He has light features, I have dark features. He is really tall and I am really short. He is also way more outgoing than me. IP: Logged |

If it's someone you know, you can look @ what subjects they focus on in conversation w/you, that will tell you where their mercury falls in your chart. Do this with enough people and you got it ~
Except you're asking for the other way around!
If you know the Sun you can tell the Moon easily since it's only 1 out of 2, then go to astrofaces and look up people with that sun/moon combo.IP: Logged |

This site is quite generic and not totally spot on BUT having said that, in almost everyone I know and whose descriptions I've checked they usually get one very distinct feature about the person and their ascendant correct. They make mentions of mannerisms, etc not just physical appearance which to me is so impossible to read. Movement to me is so much more descriptive and indicative of one's ascendant. So not entirely dependable, but if you happen to recognize something in any of the descriptions it might be a clue. http://www.elbertwade.com/page98.html IP: Logged |

Jeez don't be embarrassed just ask for the time  or say something like i have a theory about people born in morning noon night (then make up a theory) and ask him which one he is  ---------------------------------------- The Elbert Wade's site is cool but not really descriptive of me, my Asc decan which is Leo/Sun..I've been wondering lately if mine is 3rd Cancer (Cancer/Neptune) instead of 1st Leo. Thank you everyone for all the input!Have looked at both the sites too- thanks to Quinnie and staborgi! Lonake- nice suggestion about guessing via the Mercury! Would a guess as to which house their sun falls in help at all either? Because I started to think that this guy's sun must be in eighth, so... I tried it out and it gave me Scorpio Rising, which seems like a real contender given some descriptions, and a little of what I know. Seems to fit appearance wise too. Does this sound like a good way of guessing?

Aww well I asked him and found out!And it's not Scorpio, or Taurus... it's Aquarius! And his Sun is in 4th! I feel a tad disappointed how wrong I was haha.
I'm not sure he looks a lot like an Aqua rising... either that or the descriptions I keep reading of them are very wrong! Both him and the only other Aqua rising man I know are both quite short, and the descriptions keep saying they should be tall for one. Thanks everyone for the help though! Sag ASC is often the easiest: the chin. Once you've seen a few Sag ASC chins, you know what to look for. Not all of them have that tell-tale horsey chin that looks very full and broad underneath the lower lip, but many surprisingly do. Perhaps the world's two most famous Sag risings: http://www.librarising.com/astrology/celebs/elvispresley.html http://www.librarising.com/astrology/celebs/princewilliam.html Sag risings tend also to have a longish face too and may also have rather, er, "horsey" teeth. (I'm gonna to get some Sag ASC mad at me now! LOL!). Most Sag rising I've known have been quite pale for their ethnicity. Great question may I say lol. I've always been interested in this part of astrology but I've never really managed to come up with a way to really get an accurate overview. There's too many variables....for instance, a libra rising female is meant to be physically beautiful in a conventional superstar way but what if there were negative aspects from a masculine sign pluto to that ascendant or an inconjunct from jupiter? a hauntingly masculine face and a lifelong battle of the bulge probably lol a nice venusian aspect would enhance the appearance....its just so hard to say.IP: Logged |
