Hello!

I'm never sure exactly how to weigh out the astro.com interactive composite charts, because, as I'm sure you all know it simply describes each aspect one by one without really describing the chart as a whole.
And I know nothing about synastry!

So would anyone mind either having a look at some charts/birth data or giving me a few pointers about what to looking at?

If anyone replies I'll put the charts/ data up!

I can`t promise how quickly I can do it, but I would be interested to have a look.

Aww thank you DD! I owe you one (not sure how I can repay you over LL... maybe just commenting on some of your topics??)

Here's the synastry, cos I seem to remember you prefer those...?
But I will post the Composite too in just a second!

Hmm could you also post the two natals and the progressed charts, just in case I need to look at t hem?

Won`t be able to do so now, as it is almost midnight here, and I should get some sleep. I try to have a look at it tomorrow.

So far I can say what already stands out to me is:

A Venus-Moon-conjunction in the 7th houses, which in itself looks like a sweet, tender, affectionate placement, really positive for a relationship - but I have to check other aspects, too.

° NN conjunct ASC: I think that is a pretty strong one; it shows in the very least that the two people have "something to do with each other". He`s going to be significant for your lifepath.

BTW am I looking at a potential romantic relationship or something else?

you know I am not good at composites, but what stands out on a first tired glance are:

° Sun conjunct Venus in 7th house - also a very loving placement

° Moon conjunct Mars in 5th house - stormy and passionate and maybe very fertile

° I have to check the oppositions for orbs though. Could be a bit tough.

Ruler of the 1st in 12th house conjunct Neptune - is this a secret relationship? Confusing? Elusive? Or maybe also pretty spiritual.

Thanks so much DD!

For the same reason as you (have to go to bed now!) I will post the natal and progressed charts tomorrow.

But thank you so much for the stuff you've already said
Yes, it's a potential romantic relationship. He's a guy I've just started seeing but I thought I'd use good old astrology to gain some insight as to if it will carry on etc... He is great
Well, it feels a tiny bit secret at the moment purely because it's only us, our families and maybe two other people tops who know we have something going on. It could be a bit spiritual. We have some kind of a connection going on.

In this composite, there are Sun/Venus and Moon/Mars conjunctions. Sun/Venus conjunction is the classic love aspect, showing that you can have good emotional attraction with each other. Also, Moon/Mars conjunction can show a very hot emotional/physical attraction, while it might at some times show heated fights too.

Saturn oppose Chiron with Pluto sextile/trine them.. hmm tricky lol but maybe it can show a critical manner in a positive way, which can help healing wounds? (I'm just a noob at this, so please don't mind if I'm completely wrong lol)
Neptune oppose Jupiter.. cultural differences? And these might be involved in the previous configuration too, but I'm not sure what to think.

But Uranus is opposed to Mars/Jupiter midpoints. I'm not sure about this one, but these elements involved usually shows some independence problems. And the Moon/Chiron midpoint is also there, so emotional wounds might be here too?

But I've just noticed Saturn/Neptune conjunction is actually opposed to the Jupiter/Chiron conjunction.. Saturn/Neptune can sometimes shows that something is hidden/unclear. Not necessarily deception thought. But it might be related to him.
Lastly, Moon/Venus and Sun/Mars midpoints are also around Chiron. Arrg I wish that my composite skills were better, I'm curious of how this relationship is. Please forgive my lack of skills.

Here's both of our charts and progressed charts

My chart

His chart

My progressed chart

His progressed chart

Haha oh and just for the record I've always been slightly dubious about having Venus in Virgo, because from other sources it's come up as Venus in Leo which does seem more fitting, especially according to my trusty big astrology book.

comica- thanks for the input! You don't sound like a noob at all, you know more than me! You are actually saying some similar stuff to astro.com. I'm generally picking up that this is a relationship with some really good aspects but counterbalanced with some not so great ones! If I knew exactly how the relationship was I would tell you! All I can tell you for the moment is that we enjoy talking, have a similar sense of humour and also can't keep our hands off each other... but I kind of feel like there is a sweetness to it. It's all very sensual, which is nice

Thanks once again for your input, and to DD for agreeing to help too!

The feeling of having a Leo Venus could also be from:

ruler of 2nd house (Venus) in Leo.

or maybe even Sun sextile DESC (Venus).

the progressions hold the most clues though:

And even a more strong hint your progressed DESC is in Leo!

ruler of 5th house (Sun/Leo-symbolism) in 7th house (Venus-symbolism).

I've just noticed that you have Moon/Venus, Sun/Mars and Mercury/Jupiter midpoints all conjunct. This is really great, with all the personal planets together and Jupiter as well, and can show joy and support and having fun in communication (Mercury/Jupiter midpoint) in the middle of all the attraction (other midpoints). How this will go in the long run depends on the overall and how these midpoints will be affected (specially by the Saturn/Chiron/Pluto configuration, which can be affected by Neptune and Jupiter), but it's still a nice conjunction of midpoints with the basic elements of the relationship combined in a good way.

Thank you guys!

DD- cheers, I've wondered about that one for a long while...! Still don't feel particularly Venus Virgo but maybe the other parts of my chart just overpower that a bit. I was going to comment on one of your topics but am embarrassed to say my astrological knowlegde is not good enough to put anything constructive in reply! Thank you though.

comica- that all sounds very professional! You seem to know quite a bit. Thank you for the extra insight

Just comment!

Actually when I saw your 2nd house ruler in Leo, this made me think a bit. Sometimes I just need that kind of push.

The 2nd house of course is much more individual than the planet Venus, because of its quick movement. (the houses moving quicker than all the planets, including the Moon).

Why did I look at 2nd house and not 7th house?
That was what I was wondering myself - sometimes I do things without knowing why.
But now it makes sense to me.
2nd house is in the "personal" half of the chart, below horizon, and we tend to "own" our placements there (what an appropriate word for describing the 2nd house!), and along with Sun, Moon and ASC it is least likely that we project them onto others (there may be cases when we do that nevertheless, of course, there are ALWAYS exceptions).

The houses on the other sides are always dealing with some "other" being present, the YOU. So 7th house could be VERY prone to projection!

Anyway, so for the "individual factors" regarding the houses, I look mainly at 1st and 2nd house, planets in there, and the rulers of these houses. They are located in the 1st quadrant, the most instinctive of all.

I also look at the 5th house, but this one is some kind of "double agent". It is below the horizon, therfore part of our personal houses; it is about our SELFEXPRESSION, so we probably live it out ourselves, too. On the other hand it also shows what we really do enjoy personally, and therefor is something we might be attracted to and seek in the outside, too.

Anyway, so I did a quick check of the rulers of 1st, 2nd and 5th house in the signs to see if they seem to be descriptive of people I know.

In my own case (Sun conjunct Mercury in Sag, Moon in Aquarius in 2, ASC in Sag conjunct Mars and Neptune), they definitely modify the picture:

Ruler of my 1st house is in Pisces
Ruler of my 2nd house is in Cancer
Ruler of my 5th house is in Capricorn

That makes so much sense! It`s unbelievable. I am flabbergasted. I never really understood why there are periods when I actually start acting a bit Cancerian (Pisces could be explained by Neptune conjunct ASC, and my Venus is in Cap, but the Cancer traits have always been a mystery to me!).

So I was checking my best friend`s chart for this (Sun in Virgo, ASC in Cancer, Venus-Mars-Pluto-Mercury in Libra, Moon in Aries).

Ruler of 1s and 2nd house both in Aries
Ruler of 5th house in Libra
And yes, yes, she has much of that axis inside her (of course you could have seen that in Moon in Aries opposing LIbra-stellium).

Her 7th and 8th house are ruled by Saturn, which lands in Leo - and she married a guy with ASC conjunct Sun (leo) in Capricorn (Saturn). Isn`t that amazing?

My mum has her ruler of 1st and 2nd house in Virgo.
Her 7th and 8th house ruler are in Libra.
Her 5th house ruler is in Virgo.
My Dad`s Mars is in Libra EXACT conjunct her 7th and 8th house ruler!
His ASC is in Virgo EXACT conjunct her 5th house ruler!
Saturn rules her 7th and 8th house - he has Saturn on the ASC.

my Dad`s 1st house ruler is in Capricorn.
his 2nd house ruler is in Aquarius.
his 7th house ruler is in Aquarius (I am using old rulers) - my Mum has Uranus on her ASC!
His 8th house ruler is in Libra.
His 5th house ruler is in Virgo, matching my Mum`s Virgo Moon and being conjunct her VEnus and Mars in Virgo.

That is really amazing!

I wonder if others can identify with the signs of their 1st and 2nd house ruler, too (of course along with the usual personal planets). And if there are similiar connections between 7th, 8th, 5th houserulers and the personal planets or 1st and 2nd house rulers.

Sorry I got distracted here.

So I already know you identify with the sign of your 2nd houseruler (Leo).
What about the 1st houseruler?

Do you identify with the SAturnian / Capricornian qualities or some of them? It is actually a triple whammy for you, as you have ruler of 1st in Capricorn, Cappy ASC and Saturn on ASC!

Is it difficult to balance out the Capricornian side with the Arian side (your Moon) and the Leonian side (ruler of your 2nd house)?
Of course Virgo would come into play here, too, but since it is in the 8th house - do you sometimes project Sun-Mercury in Virgo?
Have you met other virgos and either loved them compeltely or hated their guts at first sight?

(Jupiter in 7th house would imply that you probably would get along better with a firesign, preferably Leo or Sagittarius, but then again Moon is your DESC-ruler, and is in Aries. So what is your pick?

I see Gemini is in your 5th house, so it probably would be easy for you to fall in love with, if not Geminis, then some typical Geminical qualities, like nonstop communication?

Did you ever consider a Gemini with Sun conjunct Jupiter?

--------------------------

Sais I and only then I see your Beau is a Gemini with Sun conjunct Jupiter. lol

Ruler of his 1st house is in Capricorn, ruler of his 2nd house is in Cancer - this is your ASC-DESC-line!!!!
Is that an astrological way of saying he would complement you potentially in really great ways, provideing you caring and responsibility, that you need?
But wouldn`t suffocate you, as he needs just as much freedom and space as you do? Maybe even more than you with his ASC in Aquarius and Sun-Jupiter in Gemini.
And then on the other hand he also needs emotional security, a haven to always return to, a place to rest, with his Mars and Venus in Cancer. Ruler of his 5th house is in Taurus and Moon in Virgo, so that would emphasise that, too.

Freedom and a place to belong. That seems to be what he needs. And it is the same you need.

You do have some similiarities there. And that could be a good start for basic compatibility.

How important do you think they are, compared to planetary aspects?

I have been looking at challenging aspects in the natal.

You have Moon in Aries in 2nd house square Saturn in Cappy in 1st house.

He has Venus in Cancer in 5th house opposing Uranus in Cappy in 11th house.

So if things get tough, that could be a problematic area. Moon/Saturn is very Different from Venus/Uranus. On the one hand some emotional insecurities and sincerity, the need for a very stable, mature relationship, something reliable and trustworthy, and also the feelings of being "not enough", perfectionistic (Moon/Saturn).
On the other hand maybe some difficulties to commit, a very great nead for freedom, so much that it can come across as detachment and disinterest at times, evne though it may not be intended.
The question is can he give you the stability you need? Can you give him the stimulation he wants?

I`d say from the rest of your charts, yes (see my last post), BUT these points (18 cardinal for you and about 5 cardinal for him) could turn out being "sore spots".

You also have a Venus-Mars-square from 7th to 4th house, which can make you passionate, but is in your case pretty mental, too (both signs are ruled by Mercury) and there might be a conflict between relationships with a significant other and home / family or maybe even own inner emotions. So probably you have to watch out for the 0-3 mutable, too, as transiting or synastric planets on these degrees would set your natal square off.

the strongest, most visible and most attentionseeking aspects are conjunction, opposition and square imo. So looking just for these in your natals:

Your natal:

Sun conjunct Mercury in Virgo in 8th house (rulers of 7th, 8th and 5th house) - about 15 degree mutable
- this one is not difficult in itself, but pretty significant in relationships, as it is connected to purely relationship oriented houses. I think harmonious aspects (conjunction, trine, sextile) to this conjunction would fare very well in a relationship.

Moon on 18 Aries in 2nd house square Saturn/ ASC on 18 Capricorn in 1st house (ruler of DESC and ASC)-
this one is of ULTIMATE significance. As you can see, it is completely tied to your DESC-ASC-axis, the main relationship axis. It must be a very sensitive area for you. I`d say synastric planets on 18 Libra or Cancer may prove a bit difficult, as the tension could easily get too much. On the other hand 18 degrees of Earth or Fire signs would at least stabilize one part of this square, which could be comforting, but maybe also create some sort of disbalance, as the other leg might be left dangling in the air. So probably someone with something on 18 Earth AND 18 Fire would be a good bet. Of course 18 Water and 18 Air would prove pretty well, too. Then you would have sextiles.

Venus on 0 Virgo in 7th squares Mars in 3 Gemini in 4th house (ruler of 9, 4 and 3): 0-3 mutable
Interestingly this one seems to have the least significance for close relationships, in a pure partner-kind of way, even though Venus in 7th creates a connection here, too.
But the theme that comes into play strongly is the one of communication (ruler of 9th and 3rd house, Venus and Mars in Mercury signs) - I guess you really really NEED mental sparks for an attraction to take place at all! Do you enjoy some kind of verbal sparring with a potential romantic partner?

Anyway, I think synastric planets on 0-3 mutable would really really set this off. I don`t think it would be a bad thing though. Moon-Saturn square is definitely more difficult along with synastric squares and oppositions; that is because the emotional nature of Moon is too vulnerable to deal well with the harsh energy of squares, and Moon often feels depressed and suppressed by Saturn anyway. So any square could be very painful here.

With Venus-Mars it is a bit different, especially in Fire or Air signs. There is a real erotic zing associated with these. Especially if the other`s Venus, Mars or Pluto makes strong aspects to these degrees. That erotic energy would probably be channelled in very verbal ways (as your square is in intellectual signs). Some discussions can be pure aphrodisiac!

So far in your case I would look out for, approximately:

15 degrees mutable (Virgo)
18 degrees cardinal (Capricorn-Aries)
0-3 degrees mutable (Virgo-Gemini)

His natal:

Sun conjunct Jupiter in Gemini in 4th house (ruler of 7th, 10th, 11th house): 19 mutable
this is relevant for relationships, too, as the ruler of DESC is conjunct Jupiter, but it also has to do with family, career and friendship.
Interestingly you have Sun conjunct Mercury. And Mercury (Gemini) and Jupiter (Sagittarius) are naturally complimentary. And it shows here that he is a pretty cerebral, communicative guy (Gemini), which fits well to your Sun-Mercury in Virgo and the Venus-Mars-square in Mercury signs.

Venus in Cancer in 5th house opposing Uranus in Capricorn in 11th house (ruler of (ruler of 1st, 3rd and 8th): 3-6 degree cardinal
This is definitely significant for romances as Venus is in 5th house, and rules the sexual transformative 8th house; it is really personal with his ASC-ruler involved.
And with Uranus in 11th house it is clear that friendship (and intellectual stimulation) is very important to him.
He needs to watch out for 3-6 cardinal though, as planets on these degrees can make his Venus-Uranus-opposition explode.

Maybe we could include Neptune here, too, so he would have a Venus-Neptune-opposition, too, but from 6-11 cardinal; this would make it important to be realistic in relationships and romance and not get deluded by a magical dream of romance. (even though personally I like some magic,t oo; he just has to watch out that the relationship is really built on strong foundations and not a castle in the clouds).

Moon in Virgo in 7th house squares MC-IC-axis on 6 Sag-Gemini (Moon rules 6th house).
Are there some difficulties to balance out his duties towards his partner on the one hand and his family / career on the other hand? This affects 4-6 mutable.

So he has to look out for:

19 mutable
4-6 mutable
3-11 cardinal

How important do you think they are, compared to planetary aspects?

Midpoints are like where the energy of two elements meets, so I see them as a kind of conjunction of these two elements. And they can be affected by either other elements or midpoints, or transits too.

Composite is a chart made of midpoints between two people's elements. So the midpoints in this chart are actually midpoints of midpoints. This might seem weird, but if midpoints actually works, why not midpoints of midpoints (further mathematical abstraction)? But well, putting all the theories aside, this method of reading composite is actually from another astrologer, and I've just learned a bit from his methods/readings, yet so far it seemed to work, so if something works, then why not use it (just like astrology itself, it seems to work even if we don't have scientific proofs, so why not)?

The key is to see a midpoint in the composite chart as a combination of the energies of the elements involved. Like how Sun/Venus midpoint represent the love feelings and attraction, Venus/Mars midpoint represents the basic physical/emotional attraction, Sun/Moon midpoint represents the main course of the relationship, Moon/Saturn represents what stands between the couple (since Moon usually represents the woman and Saturn usually represents the man) and emotional devotion, etc.. Also, for example, if Sun, which represents the chore of the relationship falls in the Venus/Mars mp, then it can represent that this relationship is mainly about emotional/physical attraction.
Another example would be Jupiter/Uranus midpoint square Mars. Jupiter/Uranus has to do with commitment/freedom, and Mars squaring this can show problems/fights about commitment/freedom.

Usually, I use 2 degrees max. for midpoint aspects. I mainly use conjunction, square and opposition, thought other aspects should work too. But I'm not familiar enough even with the basics yet lol and I'm only better at analyzing relationships that I'm familiar with.

Comica,

"But well, putting all the theories aside, this method of reading composite is actually from another astrologer, and I've just learned a bit from his methods/readings"
I have always strongly doubted; composites and especially midpoints from midpoint.
Until I saw William doing some interpretations, including two of my charts. And I was just blown away.

" Like how Sun/Venus midpoint represent the love feelings and attraction, Venus/Mars midpoint represents the basic physical/emotional attraction, Sun/Moon midpoint represents the main course of the relationship, Moon/Saturn represents what stands between the couple (since Moon usually represents the woman and Saturn usually represents the man) and emotional devotion, etc.."
You know that I am going to apply that to my composites now, donīt you?

"Usually, I use 2 degrees max. for midpoint aspects. I mainly use conjunction, square and opposition, thought other aspects should work too."
While I agree on conj, opp and square, I didn`t see that they work on other aspects. Even semisquare and sesisquare did not convince me yet.

From time to time I like to look at synastries from a purely midpoint-approach. It is interesting, how clear the differences in experiencing the same relationship suddenly become. I hope that is a valid way to do it though.

For example:
Isn`t it telling if partner A`s Sun triggers mainly Venus and Mars midpoints in B, while B`s Sun triggers only such nice midpoints like Saturn/Uranus, Uranus/Pluto or Saturn/Neptune?

Maybe that would even be a way to access unrequited feelings, but I am not sure about that approach yet.

WOW wow wow!

Blimey DD I'm slightly blown away, that's some pretty in-depth stuff, all very interesting, accurate, informative and at times haha very confusing! I was testing my understanding of chart reading quite a bit to get my head round all that. Thank you very much!

But before I try and address the motherload of info you've given .....
is my 2nd house ruler actually Leo??
Let me know if I'm getting confused, but I kind of picked up your house ruler was the sign of the planet that corresponds to that house... so for me, my 2nd house falls in Pisces, and my Neptune is in Capricorn, so isn't my 2nd house ruler Capricorn? Just checking, cos like I said I get pretty easily confused by the deatiled stuff anyway!

But anyway, wow. I'm liking your theory about 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th houses and the self and partners... I am now looking through the astro data of everyone I know for patterns!
In answer to the questions...
Yes! I feel very Cappy I have to say. And I tend to identify with Capricorn qualities quite a lot. I like tradition and being approved of socially haha (not even joking). But I've also got a pretty serious side... and I'm not that good at taking jokes where the joke is on me!
This would be emphasised if I am right and my 2nd house ruler is in Capricorn too right?
I kind of feel my Arian side works with my Capricornian side, although perhaps not always in the most agreeable way. The good part is that the Aries Moon counterbalances all the serious worrysome Cappy Virgo influences and make me a bit more passionate and carefree about things... I think the Cappy influences combined with the Aries Moon makes me both thick-skinned and sensitive at once... in that, I don't often realise if someone is being a jerk to me, or if a situation is bad, but when I do I feel pretty hurt. I don't know if this makes any sense?
It's TRUE I do always either love or hate other Virgos.
Many of my crushes in the past have been Fire signs, and my only long-term relationship was with a Sagittarian.
I do love Geminis and Geminian qualities! This is also true. The vast majority of all my friends over the years have been Geminis, and my best friend has a Gemini Moon (and strong influences). Communication is a BIG thing for me (as you address later). I have to be able to have witty, stimulating conversations with people to be able to really feel a connection or affinity.

.... (continuing to re-read all your points )

DD, yeah it was actually William's methods lol. X3 It would be great if you're also interesting in composite and midpoint analysis.

About the other minor aspects, I haven't checked their effects yet, since it's hard to mentally calculate them, and it's better to keep it simple with the basics first lol. Besides, these aspects would be much more subtle than the main ones anyways.

About midpoints in synastry, I would think that they have effect too, and in that example, it would make a difference indeed. But well, maybe the composite elements can have some effect on our natal charts' midpoints too.

Nighty (your nickname is a bit long, but if you donīt like the shortened form, just let me know),

I`m very glad you could relate to my interpretation.
That makes me happy.

"is my 2nd house ruler actually Leo??"
I was using the old (and faster) ruler of Pisces, Jupiter. I think both are valid.

"and my Neptune is in Capricorn, so isn't my 2nd house ruler Capricorn?"
Yes, that would be the new ruler, and I was using the old one. Actually I am using both.

"But anyway, wow. I'm liking your theory about 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th houses and the self and partners..."
Thank you.

" have to be able to have witty, stimulating conversations with people to be able to really feel a connection or affinity."
I am the same in this regard. personally I feel often there is something very erotic about a witty conversation.
Well, my DESC is in Gemini, my ASC-ruler in 3rd house, and DESCruler conjunct Sun in Sag in 1st house. So it makes some sense.

Comica,

I agree with everything you said. Actually I am only looking at conjunction, opposition and squares with midpoints.
I am also considering putting some celebrity synastries "midpointwise" up here and letting people guess which midpointlist belongs to which couple, but maybe people are getting tired of these kind of games. Even though personally I love them.

I just checked my closest midpointpictures:

Moon=Mercury/Pluto

Moon=Sun/Pluto
Sun=Jupiter/Pluto
Mercury=Jupiter/Pluto

What shall I think of that? lol

DD, lol I'm still bad at guessing how relationships are based on charts only, I guess that I need to do more homework. XP
quote:
Moon=Mercury/Pluto

Moon=Sun/Pluto
Sun=Jupiter/Pluto
Mercury=Jupiter/Pluto

Hmm I'm not good with midpoints interpretations for natal charts yet, but with the first two mps, I would wonder if you're a very mental and logical person (Sun/Mercury conjunction), and then your Moon right on those midpoints involving Sun, Mercury and Pluto, you're emotionally focused on deep matters of life and transformation (a bit cookbook lol I know XP I'm better to feel the symbolism than putting it on words). You analyze, think and search for the things deep in the chore, you want to understand relationships and how emotions and psychology works, and these all (Plutonian matters) affects your feelings and emotions deeply. Basically, personal evolution and transformation and changes affect you deeply and emotionally.
This is actually like seeing all the elements as a conjunction together, yet I see the elements of the midpoint as a "team", while the element that affects the midpoint as the other "team" (I feel that for example, Sun/Pluto mp = Moon is slightly different from Moon/Pluto mp = Sun).

About the Jupiter/Pluto mp, I'm no sure what to think of it lol but these two elements together gives me a feeling of something about power and success/money.

Comica,

do not underestimate yourself. The interpretation of the first set of midpoints was absolutely spot on. Perfect description of how I tick.

I found it interesting, that most parts of my chart suggest I am a more outgoing, airy, idealistic, dreamy person (which is a part of me of course), and then my closest midpoints connect Sun and Moon with Pluto. That was VERY interesting to see.

I read that Jupiter/Pluto relates to major success, most successful mp configuration of all. And my Sun-Mercury conjunction is actually CONJUNCT that midpoint on the GC.

Well, so far I haven`t reached "gold" status though. lol

DD, there was a thread around here some time ago, which was about the aspects that shows wealth potential, and aspects between Jupiter and Pluto seems to be prominent in some famous wealthy people (like Bill Gates and etc.). X3 It might not always indicate wealth, yet it can indicate the ability of gaining it, or it coming to the person in some way, but I'd wonder if it can show potentially powerful or famous career/job.

But well, maybe I should also take a look at my own natal chart's mps. I've been into self reevaluation lately, and maybe I can make new discoveries from my own chart.
