Rules are following:I show you 5 synastries "midpointwise" and you tell me which synastry belongs to which "relationship". Who is going to play with me? These are the "couples".
° Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward as an example for a long lasting love relationship and marriage
° Richard Burton and Liz Taylor as an example for an unbalanced, passionate relationship that failed in the end ° Jude Law and me ( I couldn`t resist that one ) ° Bertrand Cantat and Marie Trintigant as an example for a passionate affair that ended deadly, as he beat her up so badly, that she died ° Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine as an example for an unbalanced relationship; as it becomes clear in the biographies, he loved her far more than she loved him; so it is an example for a bit of an onesided love, too (of course there was "some" attraction from her side, too). Aspects with * are under 1 degree orb.
My theory is, that the midpoint person feels the strongest. Example: His Sun = her Venus/Mars His Self (Sun) makes her sexually (Mars) attracted (Venus); in other words she is sexually attracted to his Self (but we do not know if he returns the feelings). First synastry
her SUN = his Venus (not a midpoint, but an aspect, either conjunction, square or opposition; square in this case; the orb is a bit wider than with midpoints; with midpoints I look at 2 degrees; with other aspects at under 4 degrees) her ASC= his Saturn (square) his Moon (opposition) his Jupiter/NOde* her MC= his Venus (square) her MOON= his Venus/Neptune his Mercurfy/Node his Uranus/Node* his Mars/NOde * his Venus/MC* his Pluto/Node her MERCURY= his Neptune (square) his Mars/ASC * his Pluto/ASC* hisNeptune/MC* his Sun/asc his MC (square)
her VENUS= his ASC (conjunction) his Venus (square)
her MARS= his Jupiter (square)* his Moon/Mercury his Moon/PLuto* his Moon/Uranus his MOon/Mars* his Sun/Moon
her NN= his Neptune (square)* his Mercury/ASC* his Uranus/ASC* his Mars/ASC his Pluto/ASC his Neptune / MC ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
his SUN= ------- his MOON= her ASC (opposition) her Uranus (square) her Pluto/NN her Mercury/Pluto
his MERCURY= her Pluto (opposition)
his VENUS= her Venus (square) her Venus/Mars her Mars/MC her Sun/Mars her Mars/Saturn*

his ASC= her Venus/Mars her Mars/MC her Sun/Mars her Mars/Saturn* his MC= her Saturn/Pluto her Moon/Pluto her Neptune/ASC her Jupiter7Uranus* her Uranus/Neptune IP: Logged |

MVM,I only considered conjunction, opposition and square within 2 degrees (even though personally I think 1 degree mp`s will be really relevant). midpoints are just a blending of two energies (planets), almost like a (synastric) aspect ONLY in relation to one chart. Come on, guys, play with me! Just look at the symbolism!
What do you expect to show up in each of these synastries? Which energy blends? IP: Logged |

Thank you, Lara and MVM.So you think 5th synastry is Newman / Woodward. I will make a mental note of it. (I hope some others will contribute, too, so I am going to wait until I tell you what synastry belongs to what relationship). BTW Lara, in the 5th synastry, who would you think feels / felt more? Him or her or balanced?

quite balanced. The NN/saturn DW and the venus to pluto in both charts, even though one is a moon/pluto MP is interesting. Both have quite a lot of MOON interaction going on which i imagine would be lasting, especially with that saturn driving them both!!

Sorry, DD. I think it might be the 2nd one for Newman/Woodward. I think the Sun and Jupiter/MC + the Moon stuff might do it. But I really have a hard time without like whole charts to look at and just lists (my brain likes forms and shapes lol), so I could totally be off IP: Logged |

Interesting observations, Lara. And thank you, MVM; for your guess, and yes I agree, it is hard to look at these lists, and pretty tedious to make them. But I wanted to focus on midpoints and see if we can tell anything coming from them. And had I posted the charts, well, everyone would have known the solution, and we wouldn`t be focusing on midpoints (and challenging aspects) alone anymore. Just one more question, MVM, why didnīt you think the 5th chart was the Newman / Woodward one? So for Newman / Woodward: 5th synastry 2nd synastry

I don't know why, DD. I think either of them are a go because of the 5th one's Sun and Venus stuff, but the Jupiter in the 2nd one stands out to me. I wish I could explain, but I can't IP: Logged |

Imma beginner, but to hell with it I'm chiming in anyway.° Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward as an example for a long lasting love relationship and marriage ---------------4th synastry Notes, from his side: "there's obsession here and union. my ego is hyped to the max. i have a huge influence here. she criticizes me, sometimes i feel that she blocks my career. i really have intense feelings here." from her side: " i feel limitations here, i'm in awe, there's urgency here, and my dreams come up front and center. i want to build dreams together with him, we have high aims together. but i feel my insecurities strongly." mutual: idealistic pair, gives each other much energy, stuck on all the words all the actions all the nuances. ° Richard Burton and Liz Taylor as an example for an unbalanced, passionate relationship that failed in the end -----------------3rd synastry. Notes, from his side: "she doesn't understand what i'm talking about. she says things that hurt me. her fears/limitations are in my way. i can't move she always blocks my path. i feel magnetized by her." from her side: "hello let's get married. his career is taking me away from my path. there's frustration here along with my aspirations. i lie to him." mutual: admiration of artistic ability. can't understand what the hell the other one is talking about. arguments about world views. many arguments. ° Jude Law and me ( I couldn`t resist that one ) ---------------------5th synastry Notes, from his side: "her affections are sidetracking my carrer, it's hard to focus on both. i'm in control, i'm part of a beautiful dream, my ego is hyped. i feel limited here through no fault of hers, but i can tell she's trying to teach me something except i'm moving in a different direction. she throws me off balance. she's sexy. she's magnetized to me and i like being in control here, it's sexy. i'm teaching her about love. wow, she sure goes overboard in showing me affection." from her side: " his career is getting in our way. he's gorgeous. i want to have some of his power, he's so influential to me. there's obsession here, something keeps propelling me towards him. there's something that sticks with me about this attachment, i feel glued but do i want to stick around? i'm in the midst of a dream. i feel so seduced it's out of this world." mutual: many similar views. easy to talk about how they feel. heated discussions. limitations. sudden feeling/attraction. blocked dialogue. a mix of a lot of close energy with something significant standing in the way. ° Bertrand Cantat and Marie Trintigant as an example for a passionate affair that ended deadly, as he beat her up so badly, that she died -------------------2nd synastry Notes, from his side: "she is hot stuff and makes me feel noticed. she's just like home, talking to her is like picking up where we left off. hmm but there's aggression here too from the past. she amps me up. overall i am hyped to the maximum here. how could she not feel the same way? i feel really shut out by her when we talk" from her side: "he's a nice diversion but he's taking me off my path. he is the obsessive sort, what have i got myself into here? ultimately i think he doesn't know his own mind, so i have to say things to set him straight. he always jumps to conclusions." mutual: basic attraction but delusion here. sexual attraction is strong, so is potential for hurt feelings. ° Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine as an example for an unbalanced relationship; as it becomes clear in the biographies, he loved her far more than she loved him; so it is an example for a bit of an onesided love, too (of course there was "some" attraction from her side, too). -----------------1st synastry Notes, from his side: "she's gorgeous and great for my ego. she's trying to toy with me. it's all about me and what i love, my illuion my fate. i am caught up in a wonderful dream." from her side: "he's someone who i could make a home with. he's a burden too. he led me on. he's lying to me and taking me off my path. there's lust here and a lot of sexual energy, im really attracted to him, cant explain it." mutual: friends, encouragement, laughs, bringing something new and fresh to each other. There may be something "off" about the notes, because part of them i wrote based on the mp person reacting to their points being set off, like you say your theory is, which is what I think the traditional view is on them, if it's different then i need to tinker with them a bit. But part of me thinks it might be the planet person who's more sensitive to them. I have to wait and see if my matches were right IP: Logged |

thanks for your input, Lonake. That was a very interesting way to put it. I have to reread it tomorrow. MVM,
yes, from biographical notes I also have the feeling that she was having more stable relationship (as stable as it can get for someone with Venus-Uranus conjunction ) with other men. But these two were already in my list at astro.com. Call me a lazy bone. IP: Logged |

"Do you think there's any evidence to show it's the other way around?" No, I have no evidence of that yet (which doesn`t mean there is none though). But to me it is very plausible that the midpoint person feels the most. First of all they bring two energies into the equation, therefore are more engaged (depending on the quality of the blend of course). Secondly all the midpoints are already there in every horoscope, but they are dormant, and you donīt have access to them (you donīt feel them), unless another person`s planet (or transit) triggers them. So it is only through the other person that you are feeling your midpoint energy, especially if you donīt have a planet there yourself. In the case of that musical actor I have been talking about now and then (and dreamed of him last night, and God knows why I was seeing the dates 7th june and 28th june in this dream!):
His Venus = my Sun/Jupiter his Mars= my Venus/Mars= my Venus/ASC Well, he activates Sun/Jupiter in me. In a creative environment (usually when I see him on stage or somewhere associated with social joyful events like this) - Venus-, I feel very good myself. It`s like he is giving me all that positive energy, but I know that it`s something inside of me, and he just becomes a conductor to lure it out. Actually I once wrote to a friend about this feeling: It is as if he makes me feel like a better (Jupiter) Self (Sun). The other midpoints clearly show my attraction to him and probably also the fact that it was through him that I started to develop my own creativity. But of course that is jus my side of the equation, and it`s not mutual - unless he would have similiar midpoints triggered. I think this is the purest with Sun and ASC as they represent a state of "being" or presence. Just by their presence and being like they are the Sun and ASC person activates something in the other person; it`s not something they do, it is just the way they are.
In the case of the Moon and Venus it may be a bit different, as both planets are pretty emotional and are feeling. So if these planets are triggered, the people may be very sensitive to what they trigger in the other person and may feel some emotional responsibility/ attachment (Moon) or affection (Venus) for the midpoint person. Maybe they love (Venus) the fact that they are able to trigger strong (Mars) emotions (Moon) in the other person. (just an example like Venus=Moon/Mars could feel). Venus and Mars of course also represent the masculine / feminine Self in sexual relationships. BTW in Uranian astrology (which started the whole midpoint thing I think. But maybe the cosmobiologist were earlier, I am not sure) the Node is only seen as "connection", and is not differentiated into past life and future. The reason may also be, that we consider conjunction as well as opposition as square. So if there is a midpoint triggering the SN, it will automatically activate the NN as well. The opposition is just as much a midpoint as the conjunction, just it is the one further apart. Let`s say: Sun is on 10 Aries and Moon is on 10 Gemini The nearer midpoint would be on 10 Taurus (that is the one we usually use), but on 10 Scorpio is just as much a midpoint, just on the farther end; it is due to the fact that on a circle there are always 2 midpoints. They also consider the MC as a strong point of identity, as "I". For me it is true, all angles represent some parts of identity or "I", just the MC does it in a broader social context, while the "I" of the ASC is a more reactive, insticnctive, physical one. The Sun of course also is a point of identity, but connected with a certain behavioural pattern; the Sun is more active.
