so i'm reading about all of the latest news in the US: police given carte blanche to racially profile anyone they suspect is an illegal immigrant, a proposition by Illinois lawmakers to bring the National Guard to help curb the recent surge in gun violence.

This led me to do a bit of research. The last time the National Guard came to Chicago was in 1968 to control demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention. This was also the year that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, as well as Senator Bobby Kennedy. Definitely a turning point in the history of the civil rights movement and a overall cultural shift.

Now for the astrology part. This was the same year as the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction at 0/1 Libra.

This is why I love astrology. Its so interesting to study the patterns in history.

I am watching closely the build up surrounding the exact conjunctions of Jupiter and Uranus

Now we have the Tea Party protesting and organizing. I feel like they definitely represent the Saturn element of the Cardinal Grand Cross: they want to stop change at all costs. I think the Obama administration represents Jupiter. Overly optimistic and being, so far, kept in check by Saturn. Uranus is the wild card. Don't know how that will manifest but it will be aggressive, relentless and unstoppable. And with Jupiter conjuncting Uranus, I wonder how that will express itself.

I'd love to hear what is going on other countries and how the astrological energies are expressing themselves socially, politically and culturally.

electricmind: I have to disagree with your interpretation of the Tea Party. The Tea Party does not want change. What they want is to be in control--or rather have someone they like as a "Father Figure" in control of them and everyone else, like Bush/Cheney was. These aren't libertarians, but hyper-authoritarians. And it's all about ideology, not actual results. These were people who spent 8 years during Bush being quiet about the trillions of dollars spent on two unjust wars, about the curtailing of civil liberties and the deconstruction of the Constitution by the Bush administration and about economic abuses by corporations here at home, while our infrastructure, public schools, health care system and job and house markets went to pot. But get a Democratic president in office who actually wants government to serve the people and not pander to the warhawks and the big corporations? Oh no, it's the gawddam Apocalypse!!!

Seriously, how many of these Tea Baggers went to public schools, or had kids who went to public schools? How many of them are on Medicare (and how many of them go to rallies with signs saying "Government Hands Off My Medicare!!!")? How many of these rallies are held on public land, like parks and sidewalks and streets? Do you really think they would give all these things and the like up? These are not people who really want change. They are small, minded, narrow-sighted, fearful, anxiety-ridden people who want to spread their fear and anxiety, because they are scared s***less when there is someone they don't like--or rather, doesn't look like them--in the White House.

If you want to see the Tea Party as Saturnine, I have insist they are a manifestation of Saturn's shadow, the worst part of Saturn, where Saturn demands unquestioning acquiescence of others in order to feel in control during a time of anxiety. This is when Saturn is a bully, driven by fear and uncertainty and a lack of faith. And that's very, very bad.
