Meet George Frederick Dyer:

Id'nt he handsome?

This is my paternal Great-Great Grandfather. Thanks to ancestry.com i've been able to track down some of my ancestors/ancestry.

Here's his natal. I don't have a birthtime for him, and was hoping someone could aid me in guessing. He was married twice- first to someone else when he was 26 (his wife died in 1920), second to my Great-Great Grandmother when he was 42. He died October 15, 1943.

I think it would also be cool to take a look at other user's ancestor's charts! Perhaps even the synastry between you and he/she? I just think that your roots, your biological evolution, explains a great deal about who you are now- whether or not you realize it.

Man it must be nice to use a site to find ancestors on. I can't because all of mine are Egyptian, Turkish, and Persian. Sigh.

Why does that hinder your heritage-finding-process? You can't trace immigration-emigration records? Those countries don't keep records?

I found my biological father in 2003,my mom's maternal uncle and grandmother last year in Calfornia social security death record index on ancestry.com.
I also got my mitochondria DNA test from there too.

I have been trying to dig more information through ancestry.com to find information on my biological father and my mom's maternal side of the family , but I find it too difficult.

It's not that easy, especially when you don't know a big part of your family.

The Black African part of the family which is my father's side is very hard to trace too because of the history of slavery which often involve splitting up families and giving them names of the slave masters. I never knew my father nor his side of the family. My father was from Louisiana (born in New Orleans, raised in Lake Charles). He was a Black Creole with the mixture of Black,French,Native American. Most Blacks in USA are part white any way. I wouldn't be surprised if my Y DNA (patrilineal line) shows a haplogroup connected to Europeans and not one connected to Africans.

besides Africa (no clue what countries in Africa..had to be Western Africa), my ancestral roots are in Portugal,England,France,Italy,Germany, Puerto Rico, and here in USA (Native American, Cherokee).

From my mitochondria DNA testing, I found that I have connections to Eastern European Jews. I am of J mitochondria haplogroup (matrilineal) which is 2nd most common in Europe and is the most common in the Middle East. I joined a yahoo group for people with mitochondria Haplogroup J. A fellow member told me that I was his match, and he told me most of his matches were people with Jewish surnames living in Eastern Europe. He is J1c subclade, and so I am too.

Jupiter and Neptune in Sagittarius in 4th house in my Whole Sign House chart fits the confusion and lack of clarity about my heritage as well not knowing my paternal side nor my mom's maternal side. My mother has Neptune in Libra in 4th house in Whole Sign House chart which fits with not knowing her mother nor any of her maternal relatives.

my father had Moon in Pisces, and so I am 2nd generation Pisces Moon. He also had Sun in Capricorn which is my dwad Sun placement. My maternal grandmother had Sun in Aries, and I have Moon in Aries in my dwad chart. She was also born on the 29th day of the month like me. That's one of the 4 core numbers in Numerology. It's like I inherited 29 traits from her. My father was born on the 2nd day of the month, and my birthday 29 reduces to 11 which reduces to 2, and so I could have inherited 2 traits from him too.

Because I'm getting shanghaied as one of the characters in my play, my mom let me know that that is essentially how one of my ancestors arrived here. He was drugged, and put on a ship as slave labor. That's from the British side, last name Young.

Glaucus,

That's so interesting. Did you have any idea about your heritage before you dug into it? Like, did you feel any connection to that culture, or country?

AcousticGod,

Your ancestor was a slave? And was British? Hmm... i haven't heard of too many of those... normally the Brits were the ones doing the enslaving! Lol!

"That's so interesting. Did you have any idea about your heritage before you dug into it? Like, did you feel any connection to that culture, or country?"

when I was a kid, my mother told me about my heritage. When people would ask me, I would just tell them. They would look at me "wide-eyed" and say "WOW". Of course, I've been called "confused" by some jerks.

She even told me that my paternal grandfather was from Jamaica, but I am not sure about that. I looked at my father's birth certificate, and it said he was from Louisiana like my paternal grandmother.
Maybe my paternal grandfather's parents or just his father was from Jamaica.

The Jewish ancestry wasn't something that I suspected until 1994 when I got my maternal grandmother's birth certificate and found that my mom's maternal grandmother's name was Ruth Rosenthal. People were telling me that it was a Jewish name.

It wasn't until around the end of last year, I got the mitonchondria DNA test, and I found out my haplogroup being J. I joined a haplogroup site, and I was told that I was J1c subclade. I joined mitochondria haplogroup J yahoo group, and I was confirmed to be of J1c subclade. I was told by a member that I have the same mutations, and so I am his match. He told me that he matched with mostly people with Jewish surnames in Eastern Europe. Therefore, he said that is very likely that we're the descendants of Jews that mixed with Eastern Europeans. I don't know which European countries though.

Being of Jew ancestry would also mean that I have roots in Mesopotamia and possibly Sumer.

I happened to have the asteroids Mesopotamia and DNA in the same degree as my Imum Coeli.
Draconic Sumeria is in opposition to my Tropical Moon within 1 degree.

I am not sure if I felt a significant connection to any culture, I was always confused and mixed up about my identity and where I belong because of my very mixed heritage and not knowing my father's side and maternal grandmother's side. That can easily be seen from the Neptune in Sagittarius in 4th in t-square to Saturn in 10th squaring the Moon in Pisces in 7th in my whole sign chart.

I only knew my maternal grandfather's side of the family, and that was mainly Portuguese and some Puerto Rican. He had a lot of Portuguese pride. My last name,Andrews is my mother's maiden name. It was changed from the Portuguese surname,Andrade by my maternal grandfather's paternal family.

My maternal stepgrandmother is the daughter of a Spanish man and a Puerto Rican woman.
The latter was much darker than me. Some in the family suspect that she might have had Fijian in her. She was born in Hawaii.
3 of my mother's 4 paternal half siblings are as dark as I am.

I was very drawn to England. I was really into Arthurian Legends, knights. I even watched the televised wedding of Diana and Charles. I always wanted to go to England. I also like France,French culture. I took a French class in 8th grade, and I received the award in French at my jr. high graduation.

that's about it

Well, for a time yes. Perhaps only the length of the cruise to the destination. I haven't looked into the practice to know the ins and outs, but I guess that might have been the way of the sea captain back in those days: trap young men, make them work, when they jump ship find new people.

Yeah, it wouldn't work for me either since record keeping has never been a high priority in country of origin. :P Luckily my relatives can trace back about 200 years by word of mouth. The family name from my mother's side indicates that their common ancestor was foreign....mosty likely a Middle Eastern trader.

I heard of young men being knocked out and waking up at sea.

Glaucus - I'm so glad that you had the DNA test. It's very exciting to know that you're a part of an amazing cycle of human migration. It really does make us think about the world in a different way. So many people act like the world belongs to them and yet so many people have come and gone and lived full lives without us knowing.

Meta - that's a great pic!!! No wonder you have English roots!!!
