I was wondering if there is any particular placement in the natal that may tell of a person accumulating many physical scars or being prone to scarring easily?

Could it be anything to do with mars in the first square venus?

Mars...not sure about Venus. Mars definitely.
I would look at the first house.

About being PRONE to scars feels like a Neptune thing.

Hey MVM, I have mars trine neptune. I guess its not that I have heaps and heaps of scars, I do have a few, but I think it is also that they always seem to be in positions that make me feel self conscious because I can't really hide them, not all of them but most of them. But I guess to get them in the first place I am prone to scarring. Anyway I thought I'd post my chart incase there is something else in there that is relevant.

I was going to ask if you have Mars in the 1st...I do too
I have some light scars on my face which I got at a very young age, and yet I feel like they are more than the 'normal' amount. I have Mars conj asc in Taurus. I remember reading somewhere that Mars in the 1st is like a boxer's or warrior's position...lol...which makes us prone to seeming subtly like warriors who've been in a battle. Of course it's not that bad, but I think it's mere alluding to that is enough. I also had read that there's sometimes some birth trauma for Mars 1st house which MIGHT be seen in the face or head (since this is what Mars rules). For me it's not true tho I have a subtle dent in my skull which only my critical Virgo fingers can sense lol. But it's definitely there. And I am very self-conscious of the light scars on my face as the older I get, the more noticeable they are.

When you said prone to scarring, I thought you meant your skin was like super-senstive which made me automatically think of Neptune. But I think in this case it's a little different:

Your Mars is disposited by the Sun (Leo) and your sun is in the 2nd, the house of the physical body and self-worth. Since it's also in Libra and conj Saturn, it's extra self-conscious since Libra (Venus) is going to be conscious of how she appears esp when she is in the 2nd house of physical self-worth.

Your moon in Virgo is probably not doing you any favors either...you're extra self-critical probably.

My first thought was Chiron, and I see you have it on your MC. That illustrates how your wounds are out in public view.

I agree that Mars in your first house (can show appearance) and square your Venus (can also indicate appearance) speak to the type of wound that is visible - physical scars. Since Venus is being squared, you may feel like those scars impair your physical beauty, when actually they're a part of your beauty.

MVM pointed out a lot. I'll add that SN in your 6th house could be at play too, since that house is connected with physical health.

Whoa, that's interesting about the Chiron, Jane. I never considered that. My mother has Chiron conj her MC (Scorpio) and it's the same issues for her as well...she was always self-conscious about scarring on her face.

I'm sure the attitude alone can be hereditary as well.

MVM - That's gotta be tough. Interesting that your mom has this cnj in Scorpio while Amphitrite has it in Taurus, and you have a Taurus Asc. Same "resources" axis.

Oh! I wonder if your mom having it on her Sco Asc makes her connect her own feeling of woundedness with other people's pain! I remember you said she can't stop giving. Maybe that's partly because she feels intimately connected with the wounds of others (Sco).

Mars in the first, and especially if close to the ASC is associated with scarring, and facial scars in particular in classical astrology.

It ties in to the whole Warrior archtype.

Thanks so much for your insight MVM. I thought it may have had something to do with mars in the 1st, but I didn't think of it being deposited by the sun and in libra. And yes, the scars make me feel very self conscious, the second house connection is interesting. The question of physical self worth is something I have trouble with. And yes, my virgo moon doesn't help me to make me feel better about myself.

Jane, I never even thought about looking at chiron, but yeah, there it is on my MC square mars and opposite venus. It's interesting that you mention SN in 6th could play apart too. Could you explain in a bit more detail how you think specifically SN in 6th could perhaps be involved in the whole scarring thing?

Thanks redstar. How close to the ASC do you think mars has to be to be associated with facial scars?

Hi Amphitrite -

I don't think a 6th house SN is directly connected with your scars. (That's due more to the other aspects.) I think the scars function as a vehicle for you to feel your Nodal axis.

edit: Gotta run, but I'll be back with more detail.

I never saw Chiron on the asc show scarring. Mars, yes. But who knows for certain. My ex had Chiron in the 1st and he had perfect skin tho.

I think the 6th house SN may show not the scarring per se, but the self-criticism associated with it since the 6th house is associated with Virgo.

Jane, my mom's MC is Scorpio but her asc is Aqua as is her sun and her 1st house sun squares that Chiron from the 10th....seems like quite the impact, no?

I sometimes kinda feel the MC is even more in plain view somehow than the asc....I don't know why. Sometimes I feel people display their MC characteristics almost more strongly than their ascendants. Maybe it becomes moreso if there are singletons on that angle, and her Chiron is the only thing hanging out there.
But yeah, it's tough for her. She's VERY self-critical in general and always has been.

I agree with everyone else about Mars in the 1st. Initially I was going to say Aries in the first or a prominent placement in Aries, because Aries has to do with facial scars, but Mars in the first would work in a similar way.

Also... A lot of Scorpios tend to have visible scars, as though they've "done battle." In fact, that's part of how I figured out a guy I knew was a Scorpio. Because your Scorpio Venus squares your Mars in the 1st, it might add an aspect to that as well.

I can relate about scarring. I have a light but still prominent scar on my eyebrow because of a childhood injury where I fell and the screw from my glasses cut through it and also a very prominent scar on my right arm from surgery when I slipped on some ice and a fragment of bone broke off of my elbow and needed a screw (ironically).

I have an Aries (head scars) Moon trine Uranus in the 1st (accidents; falls) also trining Mars in the 9th. Saturn (bones) was actually trining my Uranus in the 1st and Aries Moon when I broke my arm. Plus I have a Scorpio Ascendant.

I know this probably sounds weird, but after I got the scar on my arm from surgery, instead of being self-conscious about it, I decided that I wanted a different kind of scar... One that I could control and something that I would enjoy as a scar of beauty (so to speak). So I got a tattoo that was representative of my own strength and transformation as a person. I always wanted one, but was chicken to get one since I wasn't sure how much they hurt, but I learned that I have a pretty high pain tolerance through my whole ordeal with my arm.

I'm sorry that you feel very self-conscious about your scars Amphitrite, but I hope that you can come to accept them as part of yourself. Personally, I feel like they add character. It shows that you aren't just floating through life, but that you are facing it head on. (In my case, literally. )

Hi Jane, I think I understand what you mean now about how the SN might be important

Hi angel100, I guess I don't have chiron in harsh aspecto to asc, but I do have chiron square mars and opposite venus.

MVM, I think I can definitely feel the self criticism, quite strongly. I was also wondering about how you mentioned before that neptune might have something to do with scarring or sensitive skin. I do have chiron inconjunct neptune, I wonder if that may play apart at all, as far as maybe being prone to skin things in publicly visible areas on the body.

Hey enchantress299, I guess I wasn't thinking that much about sign more house placement and aspect, but it is interesting with what you say about scorpios and scarring. I guess I do have scorpio venus square mars in the first and opposite chiron on MC.
One of the scars I have on my face is a childhood eyebrow injury too. I think I fell down an escalator that time Breaking a fragment of bone off of your elbow sounds really nasty Thank you for your words, you are right, your mindset surrounding certain themes in your life is individually created by the perspective in which you choose to adopt.

It is interesting though, even though I have had quite a few scarring incidents in my near 30 years, I haven't yet actually broken a bone. Could that be saturn conjunct Jupiter playing a part there?

MVM -

Oops, sorry. That was a typo. I was thinking "Sco MC" but typed "Sco Asc." Must've been out of habit from the bajillions of times I've listed my astro stats here.

I agree, MC can be very strong. A major body cnj it probably exaggerates its expression as well.
