Summer Solstice 2010 - What's Coming in July, August, and September
The Summer Solstice occurs June 21, 4:30 am PDT, 12:30 pm Greenwich. It's the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, said to be the time at which "free will" acts more powerfully than any other time. It is a point of decision, and kicks off Summer, the season of work, play, productivity, and lots of sunshine for those of us up north. If you're "down under," remember to have a little compassion for us up here when December 21, the Winter Solstice, rolls around and we're freezing while you're enjoying the beach! What follows explores elements we all can expect to experience over the next 3 months, regardless of where we live.
The Summer Solstice finds 12 Gemini rising in Santa Monica, 20 Gemini in Vancouver, 22 Cancer in Washington DC, 28 Cancer in Rio, 25 Virgo in London, 28 Virgo in Amsterdam, 4 Libra in Berlin, 11 Libra in Tallinn, 12 Libra in Sofia, 28 Libra in Johannesburg, and 17 Libra in Istanbul.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 30 Scorpio in New Delhi, 8 Sagittarius in Trivandrum, 27 Sagittarius in Bangkok, 6 Capricorn in Hong Kong, 24 Capricorn in Tokyo, 30 Capricorn in Perth, 26 Aquarius in Melbourne, 30 Aquarius in Brisbane, 20 Pisces in Wellington, and 21 Aries rising on Maui.
The charts for the Summer and Winter Solstices provide guideposts for what will follow in the 90 days after those points in time, just as charts for the Vernal and Autumnal Equinox each show what will follow in the period after those points in time. This Summer Solstice chart shows all planets in the first or third decan of their signs. This indicates a three month period of activity involving the material, intellectual, and spiritual sectors of the signs, with not much on the social and cultural levels.
As noted in yesterday's article, Mercury is the Final Dispositor for all the other planets in this chart. That makes it the most important "backdrop" influence for whatever is indicated for the next three months. It's on the same degree as the recent New Moon in Gemini, so if you want to know more about what that means, please check out the link.
The planets fall in a See Saw Jones pattern, defined by the Capricorn, Aquarius, and Aries energies on one side opposing the span of inner planets occupying Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, and Libra. As noted in other articles where this pattern is present, stay focused and balanced at the center while taking note of the periphery of things, and don't get off on a tangent or limb. This offers a need to be able to see both sides of any given thing, as well as the triangulation view that allows for progress and understanding.
We also had a See Saw at the Spring Equinox that indicated what we've been dealing with the past 90 days. I wrote a bit about the Cardinal squares and oppositions to Pluto in It's the Vernal (Spring) Equinox 2010 - What's Coming in April, May, and June. You can also find more by re-visiting The Coming Cardinal Squares and Crosses of Saturn in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013 which also has internal links to articles about each of the squares and oppositions and what they mean.
This is the second Summer Solstice with Pluto in Capricorn, thus creating a powerful opposition between the Sun at the beginning of Cancer and Pluto. This challenges us to find confidence in the midst of chaotic conditions, and use self-discipline and deep insights to pioneer in new directions. It is said the Solstice and Equinox charts show the weather patterns to come, so this chart would seemingly indicate some extremes on the way!
This opposition also is the first one with Jupiter and Uranus in early Aries, forming a powerful Cardinal T-square throwing the void into the first 5 degrees of Libra. As Saturn occupied the first 5 degrees of Libra from November 2009 through early April 2010, whatever lessons Saturn gave us are the keys to successfully using the integrative power of the Solstice Cardinal T.
Time for all of us, in a structured and responsible way, to do whatever actions that help us: 1) embrace a new archetype and graduate into a new way of living, 2) see the larger 7-fold process of creation that helps us to renewed encouragement, 3) find the illumination and "touch with the Cosmic process" showing a new day has dawned, 4) find kindred Spirits who share our heart fire, and 5) allow our "greatness" to come forth in ways that demonstrate our Truths effectively.
This is a time of decision, using our "free will" to demonstrate our wisdom and training as they have gestated over the long haul. It is a time when we can find a renewed sense of purpose and ways of creatively expressing that purpose as well as the higher genius of Self.
Search for what motivates you in a higher sense, stop making excuses for not acting, and work toward your best interests, eschewing secret arrangements that could blow up. Be clear and definite in what you want and how to get it using the most effective and balanced methods that are fair for all.
The building forces on the Sun opposition Pluto are Mars trine Pluto sextile Mars, and Chiron sextile Pluto trine the Sun. This is a "Mystic Rectangle," and shows ways of blending worldly and spiritual energies so that despite opposing forces progress can be made easily leading to more stable conditions.
Mars in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn is especially good for effective action, for getting to the heart of any matter and doing exactly what must be done to stabilize the process. So is Sun sextile Mars. Sun trine Chiron shows an ease in understanding what we must do to heal self or external circumstances, and of course Chiron sextile Pluto is a long term influence that must be considered in relationship to the Neptune septile Pluto anchoring what I have termed "the Grand Irrationality." Links to articles explaining the Grand Irrationality are at the bottom of this article.
Another major factor in the Solstice chart is Jupiter conjunct Uranus both in close opposition to Saturn, discussed in numerous articles the past several months. Please consult the archives to know more about this long term opposition that will pervade the atmosphere for two months to come, since we're still in the heart of the centrifuge effect flinging us all away from some people and situations and toward others.
Other forming aspects of note in the chart (showing conditions to come) are Mercury semisquare Venus, quintile Mars, binovile Jupiter, square Saturn and trine Neptune, Venus novile Sun, quadranovile Neptune, and biquintile Pluto, Mars quadranovile Uranus, and Saturn square Pluto.
You can bet that when Saturn returns to Libra and squares or opposes all the hot points of the Cardinal T-square in this chart that things will begin to shake loose very quickly. That makes August a hot time in more ways than one! I've discussed the Saturn square Pluto in numerous articles, so please site google the archives to refresh your understanding of this most important aspect helping us all get oriented and become pathfinders.
The Moon rules Cancer, so it's the ruler of the Sun. We find a First Quarter Moon at the last degree of Libra at the Solstice, indicating the next 90 days are completely action oriented, where we can build those structures that serve us in fulfilling our objectives and purposes. There will be a need for direct action and strength of will to build what we need to in order to come to a philosophical completion. Pay attention to emergent new types of understanding and the ability to read meaning in symbols and objects.
Of note is the out-of-sign Grand Trine made by Sun exactly trine Chiron at 1 Pisces and Moon in very close trine to both Sun and Chiron but from late Libra rather than early Scorpio. This is an "anticipatory" pair of trines since they are not made from the same element. This one blends the associative idealistic energy of Libra with the sense of immediacy of Cancer and the vast compassion of Pisces. Should be some important decisions made from our philosophical completions that stabilize our healing into our Higher Self, however we conceive that to be.
Due to the influence of the Moon in Libra with Mercury as final dispositor of the chart, expect the next 90 days to be very Gemini and Libra oriented. Lots of ideas, short journeys, information exchanges, contacts with those who are literally or metaphorically brothers and sisters, with paradox everywhere as well as things going everywhere and seemingly nowhere. There will also be adjustments toward more fair or ideal conditions, since this shows a time of finishing paying old dues coupled with emergent ideas and understandings.
The North Node shows us the line of greatest development is to explore the natural laws underlying manifestations, pierce through appearances, and find the universals at the core of things. This can sharpen our vision and discipline. The South Node indicates these growth patterns will demonstrate as personality integration, illumination, and new Truths taking birth in their personality arising from Soul realizations. The Moon in an almost exact quintile to its North Node shows the growth pull will be toward unique disciplines that will bring great happiness if we know how to focus our potency and find social contentedness through the events of the next 90 days.
So overall, expect dramatic releases wherever the Cardinal T-square occupies and/or triggers sensitive points in your chart. There will be a wide spread of activities since so many signs have one or more planets occupying them. The next 90 days are the beginning of new types of training while finishing up old ones.
Most of the dramatic decisions have already been made, shown by the separating Moon septile Mars and separating triseptile Jupiter and Uranus, along with the separating Mars triseptile Jupiter and Uranus. New beginnings are already occurring, life for many is now in dynamic (and perhaps frictional!) motion, and this point in time initiates 90 days of building inner and outer structures to fulfill our ambitions.
This is the beginning of the beginning, the threshold of an entirely new era. It may not be easy, but our training can serve us well as we come to a completeness of understanding and move into new disciplines and duties where we live our emergent Archetype of Being for years to come. Again, keep finding those who share your heart fire and bring your greatness to the forefront, however you believe you have cultivated that "greatness" up to now.
Finish what need finishing, pay attention to details, leave the past behind and open to whatever life renewal presents itself. This is a time when we can understand how to use skill to anticipate what is to come and build what we will need in the future. See it all as a science experiment, and demonstrate your revelations after you have explored the mysteries.
Get ready to live your new Dharma, your new ideal Self, beginning August. By September you'll know what needs to be finalized before the new adventure of 2011 begins to flame on. Until then, Happy Summer Solstice!
