I did a very small sample of synastry comparisions, specifically looking for aspects of the houserulers (conjunction, opposition, trine and square within 3 degrees). The results are, well, not very telling. Checking 10 synastry charts (for a start), the results were: 4-7 (with that I mean aspects between: DESC - IC, DESC-4th house ruler, 7th houseruler - IC, 7th house ruler - 4th house ruler):
70% had these aspects 4th-1st 60%
10th-7th 70% 10th - 1st 70% 1st- 7th 60%
4th - 10th 70% Well, one thing I noticed though the IC or 4th house ruler was aspecting at least one angle / angle-ruler in all 10 cases (100%). But then again the same goes for MC/ 10th houseruler, ASC / 1st houseruler and DESC / 7th house ruler, too. So possibly it is coincidental. All we can see from that, is that an interconnection between angles and angle-ruler seems to be pretty frequent, probably more than it would be likely, but ther eis not one sticking out. Of course I would have to investigate a lot more charts to come to a final conclusion.

Well, I think it definitely emphasises / confirms the importance of these angle-aspects, but it seems like it doesn`t really matter WHICH angle is being aspected. Evne though it probably makes a qualitative difference.IP: Logged |

For me personally, the MC is always a hotspot. I think because creative expression is a must for me and l work and play best with creatives. My sun is on both their MC's!I suppose IC aspects give a more soulful feel to the relationship whereas AC aspects are the 'look' of the couple to everyone else, and their interaction? MC must be combining career and love IP: Logged |

I agree on the IC as being very much tied to the soul. The MC is the outward expression of the Soul, or just outward expression. And since the IC sais where we are coming from, the MC is telling us where we are going to, in that sense there is a strong sense of purpose attached to MC, which probably is the reason it is tied to the carerr / calling. But the ASC is definitely more than the look, even though it is part of it. It is your instinctive (and physical) Self with its needs and urges. The DESC brings the partner into play then. Interstingly my Sun and MErcury both fall onto the MC (and Sun and Moon) on that very intriguing guy.

DD, have you tried using the sidereal zodiac/old house rulers? I have a sneaking suspicion that the sidereal zodiac would be more accurate.IP: Logged |

Amowls, well, there are very different opinions on sidereal zodiac or tropical one. For me the tropical one has always been absolutely accurate. That is not to say that sidereal wouldn`t be effective. I think the old houserulers would make sense, too. Even though for now I haven`t considered them. Maybe I will do another check including these. BTW I do think that probably all zodiacs make sense in a certain system. But I have the suspicion that each zodiac has a slightly different interpretation.

I was actually using celebrity couples, and of course all of this only holds if their birthtimes are correct, but I was having faith that they are. Anyway I was checking:1) Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward 2) Ronald and Nancy REagan 3) Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning 4) William Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies 5) John Lennon and Yoko Ono (who kinda had the poorest ruler synastry, EXCEPT for a strong emphasis on his nodal axis) 6)Paul Mc Cartney and Linda Eastman 7) Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall 8) Richard Burton and Liz Taylor (while all other couples had much more conjunctions and trines with houserulers, these two had a very high number of squares) 9) Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn 10) Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson IP: Logged |

Well, I definitely would love this. Especially if Leo is your ASC, Sun rules your ASC. For me MErcury is pretty important as it rules my 7th house, interestingly Moon rules his 5th house and Mercury rules his 7th and 4th house (his Mercury is conjunct my Mars-Neptune-NN-ASC-conjunction). Yeah, well it is a blessing, but sometimes one in disguise. Angel, Atlantis, Wisdom and Lust (and Poseidon) are also part of this. I was thinking about the MC - maybe this would make a connection somehow "solid", like manifesting in a visible way?
