Usually we talk about close orb major aspects being the most obvious and the most significant. I do agree that for the most part - these aspects will be evident.

However - I think it's important to remember that absolutely every planet and every point is in *some* kind of aspect to every other point - whether it is a minor aspect or a major one - or simply a number of degrees away (the planets still interact in whichever form).

All of these points are constantly interacting..

Now - when it comes to comparing the charts of two people, many agree that it's significant to look at the natal aspects first (for each individual) to find similar patterns for similar styles of relating and interacting.

What I noticed is that sometimes the degrees of separation between two planets are significant in natal.. even if the planets are not in a major aspect (or if they are in a "large" orb major aspect).

For example.. if a person has 10 deg Taurus Jupiter.. and 1 deg Scorpio Mars - technically that is a very large opposition and not really all that felt.

But what do you say when this person meets their SO.. and you look at the SO's chart.. and you find:

22 deg Virgo Jupiter and 13 deg Virgo Mars.

The exact same 9 degree difference (same planets - major aspect)

I've checked the people on my astro list - only the ones in long term relationships.. and they have patterns like this. It's kind of interesting.

If you like -- have a look at your significant relationships and let me know whether you find aspects like these. (where you have the same two planets separated by exact same degree -- regardless of aspects)

actually

Classical Astrology and Vedic uses whole sign aspects, but the thing is that they don't use objects that orbit beyond Saturn. They would see the 9 degree orb as a significant because it's a much tighter orb aspect compared to a whole sign aspect which can be up to 30 degree orb.

Modern Western Astrology is more geometrically oriented

I'd also be interested in seeing what else is going on in the chart.

furthermore,

There is a Sabian Aspect orb concept that Robert Blaschke came up with. I have his book. A Sabian Symbol is assigned to every angular degree separation.
