I've noticed that sometimes in my synastries with people - easy aspects can have a strange, annoying, almost tense feel to them - purely due to the nature of the planets involved and the signs these planets rule.

For instance - the Sun and Neptune are very different planets and the signs they rule are quincux. I have a man's Sun trine my Neptune and the energy is kind of edgy. We can both be critical of the other, for things that seem very related to these planets.. I am critical of his self-centered behaviour and he is critical of my 'head in the cloud' moments.

Another example is Moon trine Mars or Moon sextile Mars -- Again the planets are very different and they rule squaring signs.
I find these aspects a little tense.. Not what I would normally expect from traditionally 'easy' aspects.

Usually this is only mentioned when it comes to conjunctions. They say conjunctions can go either way and be 'positive' or 'negative' depending on the planets involved.

But sometimes this happens with easy aspects also, imo.

Building on what you said... it makes sense because they say that same signs friends can annoy us because they mirror our qualities, good and bad, and if we are unaware we might not see those behaviors/issues in ourselves. We all know the saying that what bugs us most about others are things we see in them that mirror behaviors that we have that we repress and/or deny. It makes sense that this would work with trines too since we would be working with same element behaviors. So a person with Sun trine Neptune, like you said, in perhaps Earth... the sun person ... well what WOULD the sun person do?? In your example you mentioned self-centered sun, Sun being Fire/Leo by nature and head in the clouds watery Neptune bugging each other. Maybe because when we are trine we expect the other person to behave just like us... sense the similarity even (since we are the same element)... but then when they aren't EXACTLY like us we become more critical of the moments we all have. We ALL have self-centered Sun moments and Neptune moments.... but we have different flavors to our moments.

I don't know... late night babbling.
Hopefully it stirs up your train of thought so you can expand.

Dyna. Check out your Draconic chart. I've in many year wonder why I feel so strong connection to my on and off love. I also wonder why I have so good contact to many friends in the end of virgo. All of this people are in strong square to my 'N venus/NN/mars.

To my on and off ex love I've my Draconic/venus/N.N/mars in conj to his N Sun/eros/mars. That's for me explain much.

To all my friends in the end of Virgo I've my Draconic amor conj wertex.

Maybe you have something in the draconic who can explain why you feel as you do or maybe you have hard progression to each other.

PR sun square his pluto or something like that.

Compatibility doesn't necessarily mean positive interaction, it just simply mean compatible interaction. So if for example, if a couple has Mercury trine Mercury, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be easy, it just means that their communication ways are compatible, for better or worse.
Also, for example, you have two individuals of compatible signs manifesting the negative sides of their own signs. Being in compatible signs makes it easier for them to understand each other's traits/problems, but it doesn't make their interaction positive, if they are both manifesting negative traits.

Compatible aspects shows easier flow between energies, whether the energies themselves are positive or negative.

I do agree, though, that it makes a difference what kind of set of planets are in interaction, regardless of aspect.

But being "critical" reminds me more of Saturn or even Pluto than of either Sun or Neptune.
