i don't know any real guidelines that clinch this question, but families do tend to have a lot of similarities and often conjunctions in their charts, this is what convinced me about astrology way back when! certain points will repeat over and over again, or shapes like t-squares involving some of the same planets, etc, so it doesn't surprise me that you would have this connection to your dad's chart. someone i know is just about to have a baby whose nodes will conj/oppose hers unless the birthdate is way off...i certainly hope this does not indicate the baby incarnating on her death!!!!!!!
here's a really synchronistic example. my grandson is a late scorp with aries rising, my mother was an aries with late scorp rising. both with taurus moons, their uranuses conj each other (born 84 years apart!), both born in the year of the horse . his moon also conjuncts my IC and my father's sun!
then there is my daughter and i, she has a 12th house leo moon which is just inside my 7th house. i have a 1st house pisces moon just inside HER 7th house. her chiron conj my IC and her son's moon.
also she, her father and her son were all born at the same time (within 5 minutes) of day.
so while i suspect my grandson may be the reincarnation of my mother, i'm not sure if it's not just family patterns.
just wanted to give some anecdotal evidence that reincarnation or not, those patterns will crop up...and i agree with the theory that most of us do not turn around and come back RIGHT away, though some may be quicker than others!!
i think IQ, DD, Lara and a few others might have a more definite hunch on this one...but don't forget that in a way we are all the reincarnation of our parents...
