I am dealing with retro Mars in Cancer on IC

Would love to hear your stories and experiences with this placement, or just retro Mars, or Mars in Cancer or Mars in the 4th

peri i am mars in cancer. it sucks if you try to hold yourself to the kind of action plans that seem to be considered "normal" by the mainstream. but if you realize your energy has tides and waves, it works really well. it's a self starting position, but there are times when there is just NO POINT in pushing yourself because you are on "EBBtide". it suits my pisces moon to a T. my leo sun/pluto doesn't always appreciate it though!!

i would expect a RETRO mars in cancer to need a lot of self=nurturing. nothing wrong with that, right?

Mars in Cancer

I don't like it lol
It is one of those things I must overcome.
Mars is drive, aggression, forward movement, passion.
Cancer is inward oriented, sideways moving and hiding lol
It is just a poor place for the planet of drive.

I am glad I am a woman , though, cuz I think it would be killer bad in a guy

I will try to describe how it feels. When you get angry, you worry and think about it rather than just ACT.
Then, you fret that you hurt someone or someone will be mad at you. Then, you obsess about that LOL
Anger goes in to the stomach when it is not expressed directly. The stomach is the sensitive place for Cancer.
I feel emotions in my stomach rather than in my head.
If I am upset, I can't eat.It is my major place of physical distress from emotional things.

The aspects to it would be a factor. I have Mars trine Saturn. This gives me good discipline and a focused drive.

the only guy i know with mars in cancer has cap rising. in general he is very powerful because he does not show off his temper at every opportunity. when he does get mad he "takes no prisoners" or that is his intent. unfortunately for him he has no fear of authority. this has cost him many jobs because he tells his boss sooner or later exactly what he thinks of him!

this is a conj leo/moon semisextile mars in cancer AND venus in virgo, all within 2* of exact. mars is in 6th.

i don't consider hesitation before anger a negative quality! and the thing about cancer is once moving in a direction it does not let go....and it finds much pleasure in nurturing too, another kind of drive.

Yes, Kat, his Mars in Cancer is supported by strength from Cap and a strong sextile.
That would help, for sure.

I love some Cancer in a man. It brings a warmth and nurturing sense which is very beautiful.
I was thinking of IQ, also. He has an Aries ASC which is strong and fiery but you feel that Cancer warmth.

Pdf has the Cancer ASC with the warmth, also.

I read so many nice things about Retro-Mars that I think in a way it's an absolute GIFT!
That stored energy can be used for so many nice 'artistic' things..
I remember Virgina Woolf having a Retro Mars in Gemini for example.

Retro Mars-Aqua here

It's funny that YOU ask me this Ami.
Because.. I've never forgotten these words about your Cancer-Mars and a sort of stored energy as its effect (and more). I always compared that to my Retro-Mars and now I see them packed in one thread

Mars Retrograde
* reconsiders before expressing anger
* finds competitive situations hard to handle
* tends to repress and so ....
* can become depressed

Mars represents direct energy, physical expression, individual action and assertiveness, as well as anger, desire, sexuality, competitiveness and motivation for self interest. Mars energies tend to burst forward exerted in short duration. Every two years Mars goes retrograde for two to two-and-a-half months. What often results are upsets and frustrations in daily life as emotions which should be externalized become internalized; a kind of chewing up one’s self. When you finally explode, it is as likely as not that in doing so you will be acting out aggressively against your own self interest.

If you have Mars in retrograde in your natal chart, you may find that you are waging an internal battle causing you difficulty in asserting yourself because you are afraid of the consequences of releasing your anger. You may tend to over think before you act. You may find that you have a tendency to hold back. In karmic terms, you are likely to be attempting to make up for some vaguely recollected but deeply influential past misdeeds you now regret. Whatever the cause, you are holding yourself back instead of standing up directly for your own interests. This works directly against the life lesson that you are here to accomplish. You are learning about yourself, defining who you are by what actions you take. You will need to let go of timidity or a lack of direction in order work out how you can initiate actions without creating the chaos of needless destruction.

You know, Mir, I wonder if Retrograde planets are like planets in their Fall.
It seems that way with Cancer Mars and Retro Mars.

to you, Mir

i don't see the connection there...retro planets tend to look inward, which is really where we should all be looking isn't it? they afford a better self-knowledge UNLESS one tries to disown them...

I don't like my Retro Mercury too much but I really can't complain.
To me, it operates like this. If I am learning something new, under pressure, and usually in front of someone else , I will have brain freezes.

I have them when I am learning things on the guitar. I shut down and cannot think or learn simple things, even.

Now, I just respect them and go with it.

It takes me forever to learn body things like how to use the Nautilus machine, for example

Yikes? A direct Cancer Mars in a guy is bad enough.

Getting them to tell you what's bothering them is like pulling teeth, but then they take it out on you in the most covert way an hour later....even after you tried to figure out what was wrong earlier. The guy I'm thinking of in particular also has a Cancer Sun so its compounded. But I don't usually have this problem with regular Cancer Suns or Cancer Mars Females. I wonder if Mars in a very feminine sign has the opposite effect on a woman?
