well I was told and it was supported by research that....the composition is a CHART of the relationship dynamic....it doesn't indicate an individual person, but the energy of the relationship...it is the midpoint of each others planets... the davidson is the midpoint in time and location (like here on earth), like if a person who was born on the day, location and time that is exactly half way between the two pple in question...and the energy that person would have..but it is the relationship really...as a being. one relates to midpoint in the heavens and time..one relates to the midpoint between the time/date/and location on the earth... i hope that makes sense. Composites, since the ones I've studied point to the dynamics in a more concrete way, esp. considering house placement vs.Davison. I also compare natals to the composite. I don't use Davison.IP: Logged |

I like composites because they've been more acurate reflections of my relationships than Davison.Ami, thats not necessarily bad. A bad composite to me would be a lack of definition in the chart, with scattered planets, unaspected planets (depending on the house position) and hard aspects to thd Moon and Saturn/Uranus. I like both but davison seems to make more sense to me. No idea why that is! IP: Logged |

Generally I just look at the Composite. When I do look at the Davison, my aim is to find the common ground with the Comp. You'll often find patterns. Fun to find, and really revealing about the couple. So I pay far more attention to finding those themes than I do to the Davison as an independent chart. Back in the day when I first started looking at them, I preferred the Davison primarily bc my SO and I have a Comp that's really hard on the eyes. Lots of red. But that's bc I didn't know how to read it yet. Once I better understood how all the red translated into experience, the Comp did a swell job describing us. Also, I've found the Comp forms far more cnj's with the people's natals than the Davison does. Plus, I've seen transits to the Comp describe events with eerie accuracy. I think there's something to the Davison, I'm just not sure what. seeleah - Do you use them for different purposes? When I try to distinguish between the two, I think of the Davison as the couple's "personality" - the vibe they create when they're in the same room. I think of the Comp as the relationship's identity. It's the script the two people must read from when together. But I see enough exceptions to that categorization to frustrate me. Basically, I'm a Comp Girl. If you told me I could never view another Davison, I wouldn't shed a tear. IP: Logged |

I use both. Usually Composite first, then Davison. I prefer the davison because it gives a more "tangible" reflection of the relationship. It doesn't just show the energy but the relationship born when two individuals are physically with each other. You can progress it, do SR's for it, look at transits to it, even make Marks Charts or other Davisons with it. The Composite, for me, is limited in how in depth you can research. When I do a relationship analysis I usually use the Bob Marks method: 1. individual charts to see how each individual handles relatioship in general 2. synastry to see how the individuals effect one another 3. composite to view the energy that exists between the two individuals in general 4. davison to view the relationship born of the two individuals being in physical proximity 5. so on...
Davisons are typically only in effect when individuals are together. That's why I still use the composite, as a preview I suppose, and then use the Davison afterwards. My boyfriend and I met online and talked for almost 6 years before we actually met in person. I've used this method ^ on our charts and have found it to be pretty accurate. ------------------ Knowledge is power. Jupiter Jaws http://www.quincunxd.wordpress.com IP: Logged |
