Hi all,
Some of you know about my situation with a pending custody battle.

I was phoned today by my potential lawyer and asked to come to his office to sign a contract and pay part of the retainer (the smaller part will be paid next week-Wednesday)
I tried to postpone the signing date however I need to do it today

Because
1. I was already served with a paper from the father of my baby on Oct-30-2010 (She is due next week)
2. Then he expedited the hearing date and I was served with amended paper on 6-NOV-2010
3. The hearing scheduled for Nov-18-2010
It is a date I will be POSSIBLY induced to go into labor. (The exact date will be determine next Monday)

Therefore I need legal representation in court.
I am somewhat worried:
1. I am still pregnant and uncomfortable (have high-risk pregnancy)
2. My hormonal level through the roof which is expected
3. The Venus and Jupiter still in RX and it is not advisable to sign any paper during this time (BTW: The father of the baby files petition for paternity test and sign a paper around Oct 22 2010-- I am not sure about exact date)

I have no other choice but to sign the contract. which I am ok with The fool (father of my baby) costs me lots of money.

Even though I am sure I will win this case and I have faith in my laywer ability (more than 30 yeasr of experience) the whole situation is darn unpleasant. Instead of concentration on arrival of my first child I had to deal with this crap.
I will post my natal chart and transits for today
What other chart should I post?

Thank you for all ur inputs

well, I work at a law firm. You should contact the Court and tell them about this problem I'm sure they can help you.

Thank you
I already talked to a laywer and I know my future steps
But I am concerned about signing the contact at such a unfavorable time

The contract is most likely a retainer agreement, which establishes an attorney-client relationship between you and this attorney, without which he cannot do work on your behalf.

The only thing I can think of if you don't want to make him your attorney yet is that you call the court, acting "pro se" (on your own behalf) and ask for an adjournment (postponement) of whatever proceeding is scheduled or an adjournment to put in responsive papers if such papers are due soon. Explain that you have x,y,z going on in your life and you still haven't found an attorney - maybe that'll work.

Courts grant adjournments all the time, depending on the judge's personality.

Good luck.

Guys, I appologize for misunderstanding
I already choose a laywer (I hope I made a right decision). So far I am happy with him.
That's why I will be seeing him today.
My question was if I sign contact today (because I do want him to represent me in court) will it be ok (with all these retrogrades).
The ideal goal is to win my custody case.

In my previous posting I tried to explain why I can not postpone signing a contract on a later date.

CrabbyPatty you are right it is client-attorney contact and I will have to pay part of the retainer today.
