I've always been of the school that the Solar Return chart should always be cast for the birth place.

However, on my next birthday, I will be quite far away from my birthplace.

What is your experience with this? Which chart was more accurate, birth location or the relocation?

Electricmind, I allways use my relocation chart, I was born I Argentina South America and I live in California for many many years, so far it has allways worked.

so you live in a different city than you were born. what about if you are just traveling? do you think it works for that too?

It worked for me, I read a lot about solar return relocation - you're supposed to be there at least one day before and one day after (I had almost all my planets in the 12th in the solar return, I traveled to Lisbon which put some of them in the 1st, and nothing really bad happened...)

my relocated solar return is quite different than my natal location. i like the relocated one better

According to my astrologer, if you have a lots of dificult aspects in your solar return chart, at least you can change the houses, that the problems will manifest in.

A return chart is the natal chart of a moment, the here and now moment, or rather there and then by the time you've read this. When the Sun returns, at that moment, you take wherever you are at that moment. Just like your natal chart is done for the place you were born (in that moment).

Look to the house which the planet returning rules, rather than looking at it from a general predictive tool.
