are there any signs, planets, or aspects that could indicate musical affinity?? I've all of my friends who are great musicians are cancers. I've always had an intense love of music but hardly any talent or discipline to learn to play myself. I can sing well though! I took trumpet lessons in middle school, then switched to violin...then tried to learn guitar but could never get myself to practice. and wish I could learn piano But, I listen to/research music almost everyday and am the music guru amongst my group!!

I play multiple instruments. Astrologically, for me, I'd tribute:

Three planets in the 7th (the 7th is ruled by Libra, which loves the arts)
Connected water rulers in creative houses: Moon conjunct Pluto in the 5th; Pluto sextile Neptune in the 7th (Neptune is also conjunct Venus another creative planet)

I don't know that there is a magical astrological key here, though. I think multiple configurations could cause a musician.

i have neptune conjunct ascendent.
my venus is sextile mars and quintile pluto. i also have sun conjunct pallas exact. squares to my moon from jupiter neptune and ascendant.

don't know that there is a magical key. (hahaha no pun intended

my 5th house is unoccupied and ruled by venus. i have a libra midheavem.

my partner is a musician and he can literally make ANY genre of music in a snap of finger. he is a genius drummer too.

his 5th house is ruled by Mercury, and he has a Virgo Stellium. at the end of the Stellium is his Mercury at 0 degree Libra.

If you go in to the "next dimension" either through psychic phenomena or through something creative,you are going in to the realms of Neptune.
If you listen to music and go in to that "space", that space is ruled by Neptune.
I think strong Neptune in the chart allows you to go there easier.

Check for a Yod that involves Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto..or at least the generational Neptune sextile Pluto both in Yod formation to an inner planet.

I agree with stelliums, especially those involving the Sun, because they're very focused on themselves and what they're going after, which will be shown by the energies otherwise involved.

As far as singing, Taurus rules the throat. Look for personal planets/ASC in Taurus.

My significant other (gosh, is he that already? ) has Taurus rising and has the most incredible singing voice.

I have a Taurus Moon and can carry a nice tune.

In fact one the things I revere the most in someone I admire is their creativity and any Leo placements tend to indicate creative ability, but I know many with Leo placements who have repressed their creativity and it is very sad....

But I come from a very mercurian/musical family, they all play guitars, and I play the drums and paint, draw and do lots of crafty things in general... But academically my family are underachievers except me! Leave it to a Sag. ASC, to be overly educated!

I've got a yod in my chart, Sun/Mercury (in 8th) Quincunx Neptune (1st) -Moon (3rd) (Moon sextile Neptune).

Also my 5th house cusp is in Taurus, and Venus (in Gemini) is opposite Saturn/ Uranus. My favorite artists tend to be Taureans and aesthetically I love all things Taurean - lush and beautiful. But Taurus is a very creative and fruitful sign besides Cancer in regards to creativity.

I like to check out charts of writers/musicians/film directors and have found certain planets to be predominate in certain charts ...

Aquarius-music,writing, anything inventive
sagittarius-film by a large margin
aries-musical ability, like singing.

Also stelliums are found in charts of MANY well known people so that is a huge plus!

Yes, I agree! My mother has the most amazing voice, she has Taurus Mercury and she is a Virgo ASC. with Gemini Sun and Virgo Moon is conjunct ASC. so heavily Mercurian in general, so Taurus Mercury is her chart ruler for sure! Also Mercury is conjunct her MC. She has been in many bands/ musicals definitely a very popular women in general...

I am an amazing writer and have been told by many many women that I have a very sexy, unique and powerful voice. My creativity is off the chain.I go into the "music of spheres" and capture the creative sound. I do not make the drawn out boring sound of anything that you hear on the radio, like rob thomas or three doors down. If I knew the right people I'd be touring the world with groupies all over me. The only problem I have is that my metronome timing is off when playing drums so I have to focus to get it right (I need a drummer). I would say it is my neptune in the 5th and my pluto n mars in the house of communication n Libra. Plus I am a double leo. I know how to work a crowd and direct them the way that I want. I am also extremely attractive and my entire being oozes sex. Everywhere I go I catch the attention of women of all ages. Hell, gay men are into me as well. If I didn't know any better I would think that animals want me too. haha.

My bf is an extremely talented pianist/keyboardist/organist?...not much of a singing voice...Libra/Sun, Aquarius/Moon and Scorp/Rising. Our good friend, and lead singer of their band/keyboardist...Sag/Sun, Libra/Moon...not sure of his birth time...I would have to check the other members of the band..two Virgos, and one Cancer...my oldest son is a Aries/Leo/Cancer rising, and was deemed gifted and talented as a child, with perfect pitch...a pretty good guitar player. I have Taurus moon, and ummm..my voice sucks! lol I am Libra/Taurus/Cap rising, and have been a music fanatic my entire life...too bad I can't play, all I would have to do is walk a few feet into a full recording studio!

Many different aspects could give someone musical talent or affinity.

In my case it's a combination of Pisces rising, with Neptune in the 10th. Mars on the Ascendant giving me some drive to get out and be heard/meet others, and venus in tight stellium with sun, moon, and mercury on the IC, helping me relate on a very personal subjective level with what I hear.

Taurus moon here as well, and I can sing pretty good, that's probably my only talent...also, I have 0 degree conjunction of Mercury & MC & Aphrodite (in Capricorn), and a strong Neptune...

I was a professional musician... (until a surgery ended it). I taught myself how to play every brass, wind, spring and percussion instrument by the age of 12. I started taking piano lessons when I was 5.

Now I'm a commercial artist and making a living composing music, and various type of art- graphic design, drawings, photography. But, my business has been slow since I moved across the country and haven't been able to promote myself b/c of my back injury)

I have degrees in Music Performance and Education, Architecture, and Graphic Design/Illustration with minors in Photography and Art History. Start working on my Masters in Music Composition.

I have Venus, Pluto and Uranus in the 5th house, with the ruler of the 5th in the 5th- Venus.

I have Neptune conj my Sun and inconj my Moon.

Moon in Taurus, Venus in Scorpio.

my MC is in Pisces, which neptune is conj my Sun and Jupiter is in Leo/2nd house- which is squared by Venus, trine by the ruler of my chart- mercury and trine by my Sun and Neptune.

Also, my MC is highly aspected by Sun/Moon midpoint, Venus/Mars midpoint, mercury (ruler 1st/4th), Venus (5th/12th), Jupiter (7th/10th)

I also have a Yod with Pluto, Sun, Neptune and the Moon- Moon being the apex and Uranus playing as the boomerang.

Buddy- it depends a whole lot more on the Sun sign. My Sun is in Sag and Sag's aren't known for creativity... I would definitely look more at Venus, the moon and MC and maybe aspects with the 5th house, the 5th house rulers and maybe Neptune...

George Strait, he has the world record for more #1 songs than any artist, ever. So in many ways he's bigger than the Beatles and Elvis. He's Taurus Sun, and may I add a strong Taurus/h2 signature, Pisces Moon/Asc. Yod with its apex being his Pisces Moon in the 1st.
