Synastry is each natal(birth ) chart looked at next to each other. Composite is when these two are combined in to one chart using midpoints, I think. This is the chart of the "relationship" I trust synastry more but I am new to Astrology so maybe more advanced people could weigh in ------------------ The most beautiful things in the world can't be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller IP: Logged |

Ami, I agree, I trust synastry more... for the following reason: every party should have their own entity in a rel. Composite IMHO means integrating every aspect of ur life in a rel. for some reason I do not like this notion.

There is a good article somewhere, I'll try and find it for you. Basically, you should first look at individual charts, to see what the other person is like, their needs, etc. Then, do a synastry, to see how those energies interact. Maybe even a first encounter chart, as many astrologers take that into consideration also. Only after a real relationship is formed, you should look at the composite, as a chart that describes the relationship itself. I prefer to look at the Davidson, it's a gut feeling that I have, and it proved more accurate when I was studying. Bob Marks invented the Marks charts, a synastry between the Davidson and the natal, if I remember correctly, to see how the relationship affects the people involved. Can you tell I have a major stellium in the 7th? IP: Logged |

Synastry is how they affect each other Composite is energies using midpoints which shows the relationships energies felt together the Davison is used by dates which shows how the relaionship manifests by transits. IP: Logged |

Synastry is how you relate 1 to 1 as separate individuals. It pits one person against another, each acting out their own placement.Composites are how you act when you combine your energies, in matters of partnership, marriage, business associates, you know that time in relationships when you start thinking that you 2 are a "unit", that is the composite. It shows what your unit is made of, its goals, its sensitivities, how its viewed by others. If your boundaries aren't very strong you're likely to notice composites earlier, let's say if you're a sensitive or intuitive person. Composites say why someone who was timid would all of a sudden be out seeking adventures, they change as a direct result of the partnership, it's not because of the other person exactly, it's because of the new energies that come out when you bond with another. Compare that to synastry which is more detailed: how my neptune affects your mars, etc, it goes point by point. The composite could have absolutely no relation to the synastry, it could look crazy with Saturn square to Venus, which could indicate that even though the synastry *maybe Venus trine Pluto* indicates that there are deep feelings and desire to relate, that there may be a feeling of being rejected on some level, with venus sq. saturn in composites the fear of rejection that each feels can become almost unbearable and actually prevent a relationship from forming. I'd say just look over past composites and synastries and see how things play out for you? (since we all have different ways of looking at the charts) IP: Logged |
