hellos!

i find that there is so little info on the net about the nodes, thats why it makes me wonder how come people label south node always as karmic and not the thing to focus on while i experienced many times that people come into my live whos sun/mercury/mars are directly on my south node...whats this all about?i am thankful for any clues on this

Hello Holland!
What i know is that the North is about the future, the lessons in this life and the south is about your previous lives and what you carry. You may feel familiar with aspects of South Node and comfortable with the person is involved but you have a feeling that it doesn't let you move on. The North Node is more attractive, cause it has something to give you. My favourite article about Nodes was that: http://theinnerwheel.com/2009/11/10/synastry-studies-the-nodes-an-introduction/

Fascinating topic, for me as well. Especially since I've been dealing with significant North-Node-conjunctions in the latest two Synastries that are interesting to me ...

... AND, natally, I've got my own VENUS sitting right on my SOUTH NODE (exact) - complicated!

tight orbs 0-2 dg only!:

Last boyfriend so far
We had a remarkable Synastry, filled with loads of exact Dynamite-conjunctions, such as his ASC cj. my MC, his Venus cj. my Pluto, etc. - it ended miserably - "karmic" does not necessarily mean "lovely"
NODE-Stuff we had:
- His VERTEX cj. my NORTH NODE
- His NORTH NODE sextile my CHIRON
- His NORTH NODE square my VESTA

My current crush/flirt/delicate, light far-away-lover:
it's all developing very slowly since summer, I'm pretty cautious, lovewise, these days... But, who knows...):
- His NORTH NODE cj. his own JUNO >conjunct my own SUN/MOON-Midpoint and opposing my CHIRON .../b].
- My NORTH NODE sextile his SATURN
- My NORTH NODE trine his NEPTUNE
- My NORTH NODE oppos. his PLUTO

My 1st boyfriend ever:
His MERCURY cj. my SOUTH NODE and VENUS
His SATURN square my MOTH NODE

My 1st real love:
- His NORTH NODE opposing my JUPITER - and vice versa ("double whammy")
- His NORTH NODE square my SUN
- His NORTH NODE trine my MOON
- My NORTH NODE sextile his SUN

My greatest love of longest standing (9.5 years
- His NORTH NODE conjunct my CHIRON (exact)
- His MERCURY conjunct my SOUTH NODE (like with my first boyfriend ever!)

hi alva

it must be this way for you with love your venus conjunct the SN!i dont have any conjunctions near my south node but for some reason planets keep on sticking to it

in my case my nodes are involved with a t-square SN 19aqua,NN 19leo conjunct venus15leo my north node is conjucnt venus, just the other way around compared to yours, then my mars 15 scorpio and chiron 17taurus.and often i feel just best with aqua people or people who have anything near my south node,my current bf has mercury conjunct my SN,not exact but its close.
today i thought maybe i choose the SN for comfortzone cause my MC in cancer is conjunct ceres, which is less fortunate

How old are you? They say that in the earlier part of your life you tend to prefer being with those that have planets conjunct your SN & later in life you prefer people that will bring you forward & have planets conjunct your NN. This was definitely true for me that when I was in school all my friends were pisces (my SN) and as I got older I started to get more and more repulsed by pisces types.

I was thinking the same thing.. When I was younger (looking at past relationships) I was the closest and felt the deepest connection with someone that hit my SN... My SN is in Cancer.. But now I cant really handle to many cancer placements... I also have a "cancerous" composite with gem, and IDK, I feel as if I out grew it, and its just not right for me...
Which sux since my 5th is ruled by cancer and my venus is in cancer... Ill never be happy... lol

!

this is interesting!i just had my first saturn return,i am 30 years and well i cant agree on this theory...but maybe thats cause i have my moon in aqua too, some 9 degrees ahead of my SN.my SN is cusp 5th house and moon is 5th house too...so its catchy for me and so it stays leos i do not feel so close with though should be the case with venus being at my NN...but truely its not

my partner's Juno is cj. my NN. and yea, we feel... married alright...

his Jupiter is on my SN. i actually have the same aspect with my mother. they both give me the visions of expansion and learning experience, but just the feeling... well it's more like the inner expansion. but it often restricts me from actually going outward.

my planets have no conjunction to his Nodes, just a wide cj. to his NN with my Vertex. and a square from my Pluto. don't know what effect these have on him.

lucie,
Namaste, I dont think we have spoken yet.
So welcome to LL.

To understand the NN importance in your chart you have to consider what the NN stands for, esoterically known as the dragon head and the dragons tail.
But consider that before you can approach the Synastry do you know what your NN is saying to you about you?

I particularly like his explanation by Rob Tillet one of Astrologers I learned from:

In astrology, the Moon's Nodes (the Dragon's Head and Tail) are not planets in the strict astronomical sense, but rather sensitive points on the ecliptic, where the pathway of the Moon crosses the course of the Sun. The ecliptic is the path of the Sun through the heavens as seen from the Earth and projected onto the Celestial Sphere. The pathway of the Moon around the Earth is not the same as the ecliptic, so the body of the "energy dragon" is the fourth-dimensional path of the Moon by declination, as she weaves her web around the earth.

The nodes are also known as the Dragon's Head (Caput Draconis), the North Node, and Dragon's Tail (Cauda Draconis), the South Node, and in Indian Astrology they are called Rahu and Ketu respectively. In mythology, the Dragon sought to devour the Sun, the life-force, and the Moon, the emotional being, thus explaining the eclipses. There is a good deal we can learn from a deep consideration of this myth.

The North Node, the Dragon's Head, is called the ascending node, because it marks the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from southern to northern celestial latitudes, and the South Node is called the descending node, marking the descent from northern to southern latitudes. The North and South Nodes are an axis, always in perfect opposition to each other, so the signs are affected in pairs (Aries/Libra; Pisces/Virgo; Aquarius/Leo etc). All the planets have nodes except the Sun and the Earth, but the Moon's Nodes are by far the most significant, in terms of human destiny. Their capacity to swallow the Sun and the Moon make them the most powerful influences in the Zodiac. The energy dragon represents Cosmic Law—which everyone, even the Sun and the Moon, have to obey.

The Dragon's Head (North Node):
The Dragon's Head represents your karmic objectives in this lifetime. It points the way towards soul growth and evolution. The sign holding your Dragon's Head reveals the flavour of your karma in this lifetime, while its house placement shows the area of life in which you need to develop, or become conscious of this karma. Aspects to the North Node concern or affect relationships to prevailing trends, attitudes and opportunities. Some modern astrologers hold that we should try to "actualise" the North Node at the expense of the South Node (!), but in reality the two nodes are like two sides of the same coin, just like the yin and yang of the Tao. The Dragon's Head does mark sets of circumstances that are in some way new or unfamiliar, an exploratory course that leads to the realisation of the desires and past-life commitments expressed by the placement of the Dragon's Tail.
Positive aspects to the Dragon's Head are generally favourable from the benefics (Venus and Jupiter), Sun, Moon and Mercury, whilst sextile or trine from Mars, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto also have beneficial effects. Square and opposition from the benefics and conjunction, square and opposition from the malefics (Mars and Saturn; Uranus) are unfortunate, according to the matters signified by the house and planet concerned.

Past life hangovers are represented by the position and aspects of the Dragon's Tail. This in a sense is a "comfort zone" but the growth patterns expressed through the Dragon's Head find their origins in a longing, or an urge for fulfilment in areas marked by the South Node's position in the chart. This is a very important position and often provides great insight into the urges that drive our lives.
Aspects to the Dragon's Tail display the results of innate unconscious tendencies and karmic patterns as they emerge in life. They tend to be separative and destructive. Any aspect to the South Node from any planet is unfortunate for matters to do with the house and planet activated thereby.
The position of the Dragon's Tail is generally indicative of past life connections or commitments in a relationship analysis. Relationships that seem somehow fated or inevitable usually have a strong South Node connection. Aspects thereto are also most interesting (especially if a pre-natal eclipse falls there), whether natally or in conjunction with a progression or major transit.

Hope this helps.
For me the NN is one of the most important parts of the chart. The sign of the NN is the Energy through which you display traits that let you know your on your path...the house is the Area in which these traits seem to have the most effect.

My NN is in Virgo and SN in Pisces.
There is a constant ying and yang balance I strike between being immersed in other dimensions while paying attention and staying grounded in the 3D.
Its conjunct Ascendant. And everyone sees me as a Spiritual person, its something I really cannot avoid. As its my natural presentation of myself. Its also conjunct my Angel and Valentine.
True Love and knowledge of my Starseed Heritage are also something Im known for...and lets not forget Saturn is there.
And it for sure has given me the discipline to stick to the narrow difficult path. I never expected this to be an easy task...this Earthly education.
And its in my first house...the house of I Am. And thats the way these Energies present in my life. They are something I project as the lst house is not a receptive house.
And I can say for my entire life I have always known that I AM a visitor here on a mission.
As a kid I was always searching for my purpose for being here....now I know.

Hope this helps lucie...

Hi Lucie,

I dated a guy with his venus exact conjunct my north node. Unlike what other may say, i dont find him to helping to find my purpose of life even if his sun trine mine.

I dumped him because of other issues relating to trust and even when i noticed that our eye contact was not good (not a deep connection when having eye contact) anyway, i did not see with this way how his venus touching my north node made any thing particular to me.

this is my first experience dating somebody conjunct my north node.

ciao!!!

@lechien

i see i see !juno conjunct NN is aha !as you describe what you feel with jupiter at SN makes sense could mean that the passive expansion within cant reach out.i also connect the SN more to a sense of *knowing* something is linking but its more something not to grasp while the NN feels very present!

@oneruledbymars

many thanks for the good explanation,it is always profound knowledge that can help us understand!i never really got to understand how all those stuff is coming into being,i mean the ecliptic and the rest must meditate on this awhile to get it completly!i know that SN and NN are no planets but what exacly they are was more a mystery to me...now i get a slight idea about its logistic.

@nordic
hehe!your point is what i find to be true as well...its not the NN for me that i feel attracted to in order to *get there*...

AAA and btw...i am very new with the asteroids and also dont know what vertex is lechien, since i got to know ceres, vesta phallas and juno since the past new moon.i am doing full-moon readings and my great online teacher B. hand clow pointed out at her new moon reading that the full moon constellation will be a grand square including juno and phallas so i got curious...i am into astrology for about 11/12 years always as an autopilot and following hand clows teachings, but just recently i get into the asteroid topic which is interesting but also alot new to learn and learning to be continued.if anyone is interested in full moon meditation with mayan flavour meeting*inspirit* at sacred sites,
here a little insight:

lucie, Vetex is what some astrologers call the destiny's point or axis or something like that. like the nodes, it is an axis, one end is Vertex and the other end anti-Vertex. some astrologers don't put much importance to it.

oneruledbymars, Rob Tillet was your *teacher* for real?? i read his articles often. by the way, i mentioned this like a year ago but i still read your user name as OVERruledbymars…

@ruledbymars

its wicked how you perceive the virgo/pisces NN/SN.i connect this to someone very dear whos NN is in virgo too,SN in pisces of course.his sun and mars are conjunct my SN and his mercury is conjunct my aqua moon.we lost contact due to lack of possibilities when young ...lately FB brought us together.back then it was like meeting someone i already knew from somewhere.then i was not into astrology at all,but was very empathic so i sensed that...and yes the connection was doomed to fail cause of big distance
