I have no problem staying single per se. But what I do not like is the idea of getting into a "relationship" for the sake of it. When it comes to matters of love, it's like I want all or nothing. For better or worse I find it excruciating to date someone on superficial level as I cannot compartmentalize my heart's emotions and my bodily instincts. If I am not mentally and emotionally connected to my partner, it is impossible for me to make any sexual contact. Prior to this I dated two guys and left them only because of this. Now I am in crossroads, scared and unsure of trying this all over from the start with a new guy, not knowing whether I should allow this guy into my heart or not. Even with this guy, I never went out of my way to attract him into my life. He just happened to suddenly appear in my life after nearly 12 months (BTW he used to be my colleague at work) and somehow the whole dynamics between us have changed within last 30 days or so.

Can someone throw some light on my current situation and the direction I need to be taking?
Please feel free to provide as many view points as possible.

On broader terms, is this guy compatible to me?
Does he have any genuine feelings towards me, or is it purely physical attraction?

I vaguely remember, IQ once mentioned that I would be getting into this brand new phase of life during this time wherein I would encounter a karmic relationship. So I was wondering whether this is the one, or if there is someone else.

PS: Here are some chronological events:

I've known him for more than 2 years now.

The last time I met him (as just friend) was more than 12 months back

This year, he first contacted me on Nov 24th via email asking me if I wanted to catch up

After postponing it once, I agreed to meet him the second time (9th Dec). I felt like we sort of telepathically exchanged some very strong vibes.

The second time we met (15th Dec), that was it; there were sparks all over.

The third time was on (23rd Dec), we just went for long walk and had a good conversation openly.

Also, I read somewhere that it is during the Mercury Retrograde we tend to revisit old friends and / or lovers. Is that true? Although in my case, at the time when he contacted me, I did not have any intention to pursue any love interests so to speak.
