Hello all, I am new here. I am also new to astrology. I came to learn because most people here seem very knowledgeable and friendly

I think I have a good understanding of basic astrology, but synastry and charts are what confuse me. The first thing I did when I read what "synastry chart" means was look up mine and my boyfriend's synastry. I got excited because I read that Oppositions are bad, and didn't have many of those. But I also read that you have to completely ignore some aspects because the "orb is too wide" or something. That's what I don't get. How do you know which aspects are important and which ones are meaningless?

I have the following with my guy:

Aspect + (Orb)

Moon Sextile Mars (1.12)
Moon Sextile Juno (3.83)
Mercury Opposite Moon (0.57)
Mercury Square Saturn (2.38)
Mercury Sextile Uranus (0.87)
Mercury Sextile Neptune (1.28)
Mercury Conjunct Pluto (5.85)
Venus Sextile Sun (2.17)
Venus Sextile Mercury (3.25)
Venus Sextile Neptune (5.4)
Venus Conjunct Pluto (0.83)
Mars Sextile Saturn (0.15)
Jupiter Trine Mars (0.97)
Saturn trine Venus (5.07)
Saturn Square Pluto (3.58)
Uranus Trine Sun (4.1)
Uranus Conjunct Uranus (5.62)
Uranus conjunct Neptune (3.47)
Uranus Sextile Pluto (1.1)
Pluto Sextile Sun (2)
Pluto Sextile Mercury (0.92)
Pluto Conjunct Pluto (5)

I was just wondering if someone could give me an example of how "orbs" work. I'd appreciate it SO much and sorry this is so long. I can be so long-winded sometimes :\

oppositions are actually more positive than squares, which are one of the worst.....unless the squares make up a grand cross.

oh, the orb thing is very subjective. in general the closer, applying aspects are strongest, and the farther separating aspects are weakest.

Moon Sextile Mars (1.12) = sextile is a weak aspect
Moon Sextile Juno (3.83)
Mercury Opposite Moon (0.57) = this is strong
Mercury Square Saturn (2.38) = strong
Mercury Sextile Uranus (0.87)
Mercury Sextile Neptune (1.28)
Mercury Conjunct Pluto (5.85) = moderate
Venus Sextile Sun (2.17)
Venus Sextile Mercury (3.25)
Venus Sextile Neptune (5.4)
Venus Conjunct Pluto (0.83) = strong
Mars Sextile Saturn (0.15)
Jupiter Trine Mars (0.97) = strong
Saturn trine Venus (5.07) = moderate
Saturn Square Pluto (3.58) = strong
Uranus Trine Sun (4.1) = moderate
Uranus Conjunct Uranus (5.62) = disregard
Uranus conjunct Neptune (3.47)
Uranus Sextile Pluto (1.1)
Pluto Sextile Sun (2)
Pluto Sextile Mercury (0.92)
Pluto Conjunct Pluto (5) = disregard

*pay attention to the aspects made to the sun/moon/asc
